You wake up in the hospital and see Shikamaru in the chair in the corner. At first he looks asleep but when you move his eyes shoot open and he straightens up.
His frown is deeper than normal and he looks caught between worry and anger. Hard to figure out while your mind is still swimming through pain meds and playing over what had just happened.
The mission wasn’t even one you would have normally taken, but your immediate boss was out of the village and the team was desperately in need of a translator; the only reasons they let a chuunin on such a high-ranked mission.
You are both silent for a minute before he finally gets up and comes and hugs you, mindful of injuries. He will awkwardly lean over your hospital bed and keep hugging you so tight until he thinks the little lump in his throat has finally passed and he can talk again.
“They didn’t know who made it back when they told me the team had been attacked.” He’s looking down at his feet until you grab his hand and tug him to sit on the edge of the bed.
“I’ll be fine. I’m sorry for worrying you.”
“Do you want to tell me what happened?” He thinks he can feel his heart dropping when you look away and shake your head.
“Not yet, but maybe later.”
He won’t push you to talk about it until you’re ready, and will be helping you with anything and everything you could need u til you’re back to 100% again.
Will become 1,000x more protective of you going on missions again after this. Might come across as possessive but he has just lost people before and can’t stand the thought of losing you or seeing you in a hospital bed again.
Itachi. This man is patient af. Will not hesitate to wait it out while painfully hard just to hear you whine and tug his hair when he pulls away againwith that little smirk on his face. Will just laugh into kissing your thighs if you threaten to give him a taste of his own medicine.
Kakashi. Man is also patient. Edging takes some patience, ok? It’s worth it to him because the noises you make when you get really desperate just do things to him. Will absolutely think about them if he has to do a little solo action.
Shikamaru. Loves the way your body starts to seize up right before you finish. Will learn what it takes to get you there fast just to see it and feel it over and over again. He will learn your body like a map and know exactly which strings to pluck to have you on the edge of cloud 9 in 30 seconds flat.
Genma. Dude has an oral fixation like no one else. Will go down on you and edge you just so he can keep going. That tongue can do things that are just unfair.
Deidara. Has extra mouths and will use them however you want because your face when he has you so close is gorgeous. Won’t realize it’s a thing at first, just did it accidentally one time when you were close and uh-oh now he is hooked because he can get you to look like that over and over again? Sold.
BONUS: Top 5 Who Won’t!
Kiba. Man is impatient and when you really start to get into it with him there is no way he is stopping just to build it up again. Would rather just go extra rounds.
Yamato. If you ask he might try it, but he is 100% into giving you as much pleasure as possible and the whines when he pulls away just break his heart a little.
Naruto. Like I said before, edging takes some patience. I can’t see Naruto wanting to wait it out when you’re perfectly ready right now.
Iruka. My sweet vanilla boy. Maybe a bit like Yamato in that he’ll give it a really good try but it isn’t natural for him to stop you when things are obviously feeling so good.
Hidan. You think Hidan will stop? Even if it’s to build it up to something bigger this man doesn’t have an ounce of patience. Would prefer lots of extra rounds to stopping.
But if you catch him right after a shower or he’s been gone on a mission that took longer than he expected (and he ran out of cigarettes a few days ago), sometimes you can catch something else.
He smells a little like an old book, maybe a little dusty but comforting and warm. A little hint of fresh ink.
When he cooks the smells tend to linger on his skin and hair, especially something warm and spicy.
Shikamaru would totally be into shotgunning with you when he smokes. You cannot change my mind about this. Will grab your chin and blow the smoke into your mouth, might let his lips brush against yours if he wants to tease you a little more.

i think eventually yamato would realize shikamaru’s intellect, but at first, knowing shikamaru’s grades, his first thoughts would be “i think i am an idiot”
anyways if he ever tried the underlit “scary face” on inoshikacho they’d just laugh at him
