Finally to the last day of GraGoh week 2021, to the long awaited unity. Based on @mystics-and-chill’sheadcanon (Thanx for making me cry ugly tears) about Skekgra and Urgoh living out the last of their days with one another, and might have passed before Jen’s journey. While they may not have been able to achieve their goal of becoming one being, I would like to think they left the world in peace, knowing that in the life beyond the flesh, they will become one in spirit. Thanx again for the opportunity @mystics-and-chill, and hope you guys enjoyed this small Journey with me into nostalgia.
No dialogue this time, the hermits are trying to concentrate on the fourth day of GraGoh week “Arts and Crafts”. Four usable arms come in handy for doing multiple things at the same time, especially for attention to detail. Hope ya like!
I went to the Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance exhibit at the Atlanta Center for Puppetry Arts today!! I took WAY more photos than will fit into a single post, so I’ll be dividing them up throughout the week. First up is skekGra and urGoh’s puppet show because I am totally biased but also it’s amazing ❤
Fun little things:
-They’re way bigger than you’d think they are! I guess because we’re thinking of them in relation to our own hands rather than larger puppet hands
- You can see where the urSkek flips over into the castle
-The amount of detail even on just these little things is absurd- the Gra puppet in particular has so much more going on than you can see in the show (though curiously yep, no nail)
-SkekGra’s gloves are a textured fabric, not knitted. I refuse to accept this, they’re still knitted in my head
Every time I shake him he makes this small rattling sound like a teeny bead is rolling about in his head. My sister shook him and asked what the noise was, and without missing a beat I said “That’s his single braincell”.
School just started a couple days ago, and getting back to in-person classes after a year of being remote stressfull as HELL.
So here are some modern au/high school au skeksis that I drew during a homework break!
I had a whole lot of fun drawing these guys, especially Ekt, Mal and Sa. I couldn’t add as much detail as I wanted since these were just head shots, but I did what I could lol. So obviously Skekso would be the principal, and skeksil would be the Vice Principal, and skektek is the science teacher. I tried to make Skekmal look athletic, threatening but still look like a Hall monitor??? (Ex-Hall monitor I mean).
I definelty had the most fun drawing Skekekt, they have such a flamboyant design an personality and I tried my best to make them look feminine while having some masculinity as well but I think it kinda backfired. I really love Skeksa, she’s one of my fav skeksis and aside from Skekekt I feel like I gave her the best design. I really love how the blue hair turned out. SkEkGrA i’M sO sOrRy!!!! I just kinda got lost on what to do with him so I settled with what I drew and I’m not that proud of it. Idk it might just be me…
Headcanon: Skekgra and Urgoh go to stone in the woods to cheer with the gelflings and bring Hup back, Brea and Rian are happy to see them and Brea goes up and hugs Gra and Urgoh, to show that they are no threat.
