I wanted to address something regarding the latest comic release.
I know a few of the fandom were disappointed by the conclusion. Alot of us had presumptions about how characters should have been written & how the comics tie into the lore.
It is valid to not agree & have criticism against the the recent comics, not everything was perfect.
But I cannot stress this enough, PLEASE KEEP IT CIVIL. Constructive criticism and flat out harrassing & being rude are two different concepts. I know the franchise is very special to some people and it deserves respect. But the people who take time and resources to produce content also do.
I am surprised that the franchise is still getting content especially at such rough time. I want to continue to support what I love in the most respectful way possible. My greatest fear is that the fandom becomes toxic and unwelcoming, and I don’t want the relationship between fans and writers to become strained (SU fandom ex.)
Likes: desserts, luxury, drinking, sword fighting, being praised, his parents, baking, early mornings.
Dislikes: Skekzok, Skekok, being confined to the castle, being challenged, losing in sport, academics, Gossip.
Role in the castle: Skekyum is the castles head pastry chef and had been mentored by his father skekayuk. Though he wants to please his parents as the castles pastry chef.
He secretly aspires to be a great swordsman.
Though skekyum had shown great skill with a sword he had been forbidden to practice by the emperor. Reason given that the emperor had been afraid skekyums youth and strength would allow him to overthrow him.
Skeksil on the over hand had seen this as a opportunity to use skekyum as a pawn. Secretly mentoring him away from The castle. To train him as one of his personal bodyguards.
Though because Skekyums naivety and vainess he is only been interested in impressing his fellow court members.
Skekyum is missing a few teeth due to his tendency to bite others. He had been punished by skekzok who pulled out his canines.
Skekyum looks up to skekung because of his strength and no-nonsense attitude.
Skekyum loves his parents but wishes they would be more assertive when it came to the castles social structure.
Skekyum has a tendency to be seduced & manipulated by pretty skeksis, specifically the Emperor’s offspring.
He has a extensive shoe collection he is fond of.
He takes after skekekt in appearance, but skekayuk in personality.

This was before I really figured out her outfit and hair, here I was deciding which eye color worked best for her and I went for orange for contrast and family history reasons, I also like the warmth it adds to her eyes making her seem a bit more gentle but still strong

Azra the Sifan Gelfling for my Best Friend @thanatasia (done as a Bday gift)! She is one of her many amazing Dark Crystal OC’s and I had a lot of fun with her, especially her centipede-like pets named Goldie and Sawtooth! Don’t you just wanna give them a pat?
A piece from this comic I’m TRYING to make, got through the first page, but am suffering with major writers block as well as subpar artistic skills, I think this looks bomb though❤️
For a little context: this is during the garthim wars, and I imagine that there will be a point where the remaining gelfling are hiding in some sort of safe zone, and every unum or so they have to send out a group of gelfling to leave the safe zone to get food, supplies etc. However, the garthim swarms are getting more and more frequent, and it gets more dangerous to leave the safe zone.
This comic takes place during their second or third exposition outside the safe zone, and after an incident Deet starts worrying for Rian’s safety. Rian promises to return to Deet and their future childling every time he leaves.

Tbh I have a lot of Thra animals that I like, but these are my top favorites. I loved fizzgigs since the first time I watched the movie so they will hold a special place in my heart.
Terberfrocs just looked so cute and I’m glad we got to look at one for a few seconds in the original film. Just look At THEM!!
And Lunarkins are just adorable to me, they’re little floating orbs and I would keep one if they didn’t die once captured.
I’m really excited for this week and to celebrate the beauty that is The Dark Crystal and Thra.
In honor of The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance’s Second Anniversary, we are working in a Great Conjunction (*wink*) with @thra-athon to sponsor a celebratory event for this wonderful fandom.
Starting Monday, August 30, and ending Sunday, September, 5, 2021, Create for Thra is designed to be a celebration and fun experience for fans to submit artwork, fanfiction, and all manner of creation related to the world of Thra and the week’s themes! You can focus on one character/ships, or you can use the full cast of characters. We are so excited to see what you create!
Here are the themes for the week:
August 30 — Day One: Creature Feature - Draw or write a story about your favorite Thra-creature, or post artwork of your own Thra-Creature Creation.
August 31 — Day Two: Original Characters - Introduce us to your original character within the world of Thra. Words, images, sculptures, dolls, puppets… the world of Thra is, as they say, your… gobble? Hm…
September 1 — Day Three: Where in the World? / Home Is Where the Heart Is - Show us your favorite locale on Thra with art or words, or create something about your favorite character in the little piece of Thra they call home.
September 2 — Day Four: Scene Work - Draw/write an interpretation of your favorite scene, or create your own deleted scene from the show. What occurred offscreen that you would have liked to see? What would your favorite scene have looked like from a different character’s eyes?
September 3 — Day Five: What Was Sundered and Undone - The Division of the UrSkeks… the splitting of the Seven Clans… the cracking of the Crystal of Truth. Many things on Thra have been torn apart. Create a piece about this topic.
September 4 — Day Six: “There are many paths laid before us, some good, most bad.” - Create a story or drawing about the differing paths Aughra sees. Brea tells her mother to imagine the possibilities - what can you imagine?
September 5 — Day Seven: A Great Conjunction - “Alright, together then!” From the reunification of the Skeksis and Mystics and the Gelfling fires of resistance, the alliance of the Arathim and the Gelfling, to our favorite Podling Paladin, unity is an important concept during the Age of Resistance. Make a creation about embracing unity instead of continuing division!
It isn’t required to participate for the entire week. If you’d just like to submit a piece of work for only one of the theme days, that’s completely fine! Please be sure that any work submitted is new content.

1) Tag your work properly so that any parties who are either a) too young for certain subject matter, or b) concerned about potentially unsavory subject matter, may make informed decisions about what works they do and do not want to engage with.

School just started a couple days ago, and getting back to in-person classes after a year of being remote stressfull as HELL.
So here are some modern au/high school au skeksis that I drew during a homework break!
I had a whole lot of fun drawing these guys, especially Ekt, Mal and Sa. I couldn’t add as much detail as I wanted since these were just head shots, but I did what I could lol. So obviously Skekso would be the principal, and skeksil would be the Vice Principal, and skektek is the science teacher. I tried to make Skekmal look athletic, threatening but still look like a Hall monitor??? (Ex-Hall monitor I mean).
I definelty had the most fun drawing Skekekt, they have such a flamboyant design an personality and I tried my best to make them look feminine while having some masculinity as well but I think it kinda backfired. I really love Skeksa, she’s one of my fav skeksis and aside from Skekekt I feel like I gave her the best design. I really love how the blue hair turned out. SkEkGrA i’M sO sOrRy!!!! I just kinda got lost on what to do with him so I settled with what I drew and I’m not that proud of it. Idk it might just be me…
I didn’t really want to cry today, but here we are Lol :’)
So we all know that Rian’s mom Shoni doesn’t make an appearance in the series and there is a possibility that she won’t make an appearance in the future.
I have seen a lot of head canons as to what might have happened to her and this is just my addition to those head canons. I think that it’s possible that Shoni might have died while giving birth Rian/ or she died shortly after he was born, this could explain her absence as well as the absence of Rian’s younger siblings. I’m probably not the only person who has thought of this but that’s okay.
I wrote the lyrics from “Dear Theodosia Reprise” to add more effect.
This one is kinda rushed and I’m not really proud of it but it’s fine.
So there are a lot of people who debate whether Brea or Kylan is the one to plant the first kiss and I kinda flip flop between the two. However I feel like Brea would definitely be most likely to do it and just imagining it and Kylan being thrown completely off guard by it just makes me so happy.
So I imagine that during Brea’s visit to Sami thicket that she and Kylan sneak off after everyone goes to bed and he takes her out to a field and there are just a bunch of stars out in the sky. Since Brea lived in the city all her life she had never seen this many stars before (and you BET that brought a book or her journal or something).
I got this idea from when my mom took me out to visit my grandparents further out in the country and there were a bunch of stars out since we were further away from the city and lights. I love stargazing scenes in movies since they are just so romantic and imagining these is just
