STAR TREK (2009) ALTERNATIVE ENDING
Captain Picard restores the prime timeline

The Temporal Integrity Commission was a 29th century Federation agency tasked with protecting the timeline from temporal incursions and maintaining the integrity of the Temporal Prime Directive

The Commission has (from time to time) enlisted the aide of Starfleet officers and personnel and in this video enlists the crew of the U.S.S. Enterprise NCC-1701-E to prevent the alterations brought by JJ Abrams and restore the prime timeline | STARFLEET INTELLIGENCE

Shatner & Nimoy scripted in mission to realign timeline on eve of Trek’s 50th Anniversary

STARFLEET INTELLIGENCE | Details on the yet-to-be-titled ‘Star Trek 3’, the thirteenth motion picture of the Trek franchise, have begun to stream out at full-impulse the past two weeks thanks to Zachary Quinto, William Shatner, the films’ co-writer J.D. Payne and Seoul Mayor Park Won-Soon.

Mayor Won-Soon, who traveled to Los Angeles last week as part of a delegation working to model Seoul’s Emergency Preparedness System after L.A., visited the Paramount Picture lot last Sunday as his final stop, signing a deal with Jeffrey Chernov to film Star Trek 3 in the South Korean capitol. The mayor has since confirmed on the news on Seoul’s Official Facebook page.

Records on file with the Seoul Film Commission confirm a number rumors and new details yet to be released by Paramount, listing Chernov and J.J. Abramsas the film’s co-producers and Roberto Orci as director. Oscar winning cinematographer Claudio Miranda will shoot the film digitally, the first for a Star Trek film. Listing Vancouver as its principal [film] location, Star Trek 3 is set to begin filming January 28th, 2015*.

Only days prior to Mayor Won-Soon’s revelation, actor Zachary Quinto, who played Spock in Star Trek (2009) and its sequel Into Darkness, stated that filming was at least six  months away during an appearance to promote his new documentary series The Chair on NBC’s Today Show.

=======

It was previously reported that Orci himself confirmed via a forum post that the first script to the third film in the Abrams-era had recently been completed by him and co-writers Patrick McKay and J.D. Payne.

Orci, who pinned the ‘soft-boot’ 2009 film and Into Darkness, is a self-described Trekkie and felt most familiar with Star Trek: The Next Generation.

In at least three separate interviews Orci has expressed his desire to incorporate familiar characters from other Trek series’ as while as exploring the possibility of including additional original cast members in future films, steering the franchise in a direction different than what Abrams had sought.

Speaking as a guest on the Humans From Earth podcast, Orci  explained:

Production for the yet-to-be-titled Star Trek 3 is moving forward, with filming expected to begin in the next six months according to Zachary Quinto.

The 37 year old actor, who played SpockinJ.J. AbramsStar Trek (2009) and its 2013 sequel, Star Trek Into Darkness, revealed the tidbit during an interview appearance Tuesday on NBC’sToday Show:

“I think [the next Star Trek movie] is on the horizon,” he said. “Things are rumbling, so I have a feeling that we will be back in production sometime in the next six months.”

No other details were revealed, though the film’s co-writer, J.D. Payne, recently spoke about the plot for Star Trek 3withMoviePilot.com:

“We’re trying to set up a kind of situation where you really could – and not in just an ‘everything’s relative’ sort of moral relativism. You could be a good person of any creed or philosophical background and come down on both sides of how you should respond to this opportunity that the crew has… that also has some pitfalls to it where you could argue very, very, very compellingly that ‘this’ is what you should do, and if you’re advocating ‘this’, then it’s actually evil.”

As previously reported, the U.S.S.Enterprise will head out on a mission in deep spaceinStar Trek 3 in what is said to be an original story. Fans will be quick to begin considering possible and [feasible] plot scenarios as it appears the challenge of deep space exploration will weigh heavily on the Enterprise crew and give the film the moral and philosophical undertones mentioned by Payne.

To date, almost no official information on the film has been released by Paramount Pictures,Bad Robot Productions or Skydance; but, Star Trek (2009) and Into Darknessco-writerRoberto Orci is said to have recently completed the film’s script with PayneandPatrick McKay and is expected to helm the director’s seat in what will be his directorial debut.

Abrams, who vacated the directors seat earlier this year in favor of directorial duties on the upcoming Star Wars Episode VII, remains the film’s producer.

Star Trek 3 will be the thirteenth (13) film in the franchise and is expected to be released in 2016 in time for Star Trek’s 50th Anniversary|STARFLEET INTELLIGENCE

Just weeks after the announcement of Robert Orci being chosen to replace JJ Abrams as director to the upcoming Star Trek 3, Orci opens up in an interview with Geoff Boucher of the Nerdist Podcast "Humans From Earth" and drops a few hints on the upcoming film.

“In Into Darkness they set out finally where the original series started. The first two films – especially the 2009 ‘Star Trek’ was an origin story. It was about them coming together. So they weren't the characters they were in the original series. They were growing into them and that continues on in the second movie,” explains Orci.

“So in this movie they are closer than they are to the original series characters that you have ever seen. They have set off on their five-year mission. So their adventure is going to be in deep space.”

NEW LIFE AND NEW CIVILIZATIONS

On the subject of aliens, when asked about the need to go back to the Klingons or Romulans for new fans, Orci countered “why do you have to go back to them?”

“Because this is an alternative universe I think we can choose,” he continued. “I don’t feel the pressure to revisit anyone or not. We are lucky that way, but we have the ability to cherry pick what has become before. It will depend on what serves the story best.”

As for new alien races, Orci revealed “We have discussed [the challenges of creature design]. The advantage we have is there is new technology available. Even though I am a fan and I know JJ is a fan of as much practical sets and creature design you can do, we can also augment it with the technology that exists today, CGI. So in a way we have a freedom that is a little bit unexplored. I hope to do that in the next Star Trek.”

REGAINING PROGRESSIVENESS WITH GAY CHARACTER

Along with the story taking place in deep space, Orci spoke the progressiveness of the franchise and his desire to see a gay character in Star Trek.

“It can be part of a character and not be the whole shebang. It doesn’t have to be like South Park, like ‘what have we learned today.’ It can be so normalized that it just exists. I agree it can’t be shoe-horned in. And it is not necessary for it to be the whole point of the thing. It is an ensemble and there is lots of people to represent so no one point of view should hog it.”

CAPTAIN JAMES KIRK HAS GROWN UP

As for Chris Pine’s Captain Kirk, he is now “an adult.”

“In the first film, Kirk is like a college guy might do (or a cadet) – finds himself in a dorm, lights come on and she’s green! In the second film he finds himself with humanoid felines. In the third film he is a little bit more of an adult.”

HE’S A FAN OF THE NEXT GENERATION

It was no secret that Abrams was “more of a Star Wars fan” but Orci has always professed of being a lifelong Star Trek fan and during the interview he touches on his introduction to 'Star Trek’ through The Next Generation and  finding favorite and the most familiarity with TNG characters.

Will we see other cast from past Star Trek in the new film?

“It’s possible,” Orci teases. “Whatever serves the story….that’s my version of ‘no comment’."

This is not the first time The Next Generation has been teased. During press tours for Into Darkness, the British entertainment site HeyUGuys.com interviewed both Orci and Alex Kurtzman who mentioned their desire to bring in two iconic adversaries characters from TNG into the new universe. And in December 2013, HeyUGuys.com caught up with co-screenwriter and producer Damon Lindelof who affirmed Abrams departure from Star Trek 3 would not derail plans for the next film.

"Very early on, I think the fundamental ‘this is what the plot is going to be’, ‘this is who the bad guy is’, ‘this is what they’re up against’, that came very, very early. Even while we were working on the first movie,” informed Lindelof. “You should always know where you've been, you should always know where you are, but most importantly, and I learned this from Lost, you should know where you’re going.”

“You can’t talk about Trek and not talk about the BORG, and certainly about Q,”he taunted.

“Very iconic adversaries from The Next Generation which is, outside of the original cast films, was my entry way into Star Trek, so I wouldn't mind getting – towards the end of our run on Star Trek, maybe baby Picard could be born. There has to be some sort of crossover we’re not thinking of.”]

NEW PRODUCERS TO SET ITS OWN COURSE

Since announcing Orci’s new role in the next movie, fans have been heavy in their criticism of Orci, his ability to direct the film and the assumption his film being much of the same of what Abrams delivered. However, one significant difference might come in the form of transparency and avoiding Abrams’ penchant for secrecy, which largely backfired with Into Darkness and the casting of Benedict Cumberbatch as Khan.

"I think it is going to be more of a mix. On the one hand you want the story to have surprises. Otherwise why even go to the movie? On the other hand you want to share enough of it to let people know what they are going to get and what they can expect and what the experience is going to feel like. In terms of behind the scenes, audiences are now so savvy, I think it is kind of fun to be more transparent. And let people into the process of how you are doing things and let them watch you do the movie. You can see behind the scenes without knowing what the context of the scene is or what the story is,” he lamented.

“The Horta is actually the villain in the next one,” Orci can be heard saying at one point.

Star Trek 3 is scheduled for a 2016 release, coinciding with Star Trek’s 50th anniversary.

The Crystalline Entity was a massive crystal-like life-form encountered by Starfleet and responsible for the destruction of at least thirteen Class-M planets including all  colonies and indigenous life.

FIRST CONTACT

Though evidence of its existence became evident through the study of ten prior attack sites, the first encounter with the Crystalline Entity in which a surviving Federation witness or recovery of uncorrupted and intact record instrumentation occurred on stardate 41242.4 in the  *Omicron Theta* System by the USS Enterprise NCC-1701-D under the command of Captain Jean-Luc Picard.

OBSERVABLE CHARACTERISTICS

Formidable in size, the creature was capable of warp speed velocities as it traveled through space in search of sources of material it could convert into energy- specifically, organic matter.

Functioning as a giant electromagnetic collector, a composite matter consisting of bitrious, hydrocarbon, lanthandies and nitrate were deposited in the Entity’s wake.

As it was discovered the Entity lacked the ability to penetrate rock comprising of both kelbonite and fistrium, the crew of the Enterprise was able to incorporate the refractive properties of these materials with the ship’s shields to create a defense from the creature’s absorption power.

DELIBERATE DESTRUCTION

This defense allowed Xenologist Doctor Kila Marr and Lt. Commander Data to devise a technique to communicate with the Entity by emitting graviton pulses at ten per second. However, In an act of vengeance, Marr intentionally increased the pulse rate with a continuous graviton emission which drove the Entity into resonance shattering the creature.

Little is known of the origins Crystalline Entity or whether others exist elsewhere. Based on trajectory extrapolated by the Enterprise, it is believed the Entity originated from outside the Milky Way Galaxy
