Quando o Mário me lançou este desafio, a grande dificuldade foi escolher um livro. Foram tantos os livros que marcaram a minha vida, cada livro chegou na hora certa e, alguns voltaram vezes sem conta com os seus sábios ensinamentos para me ajudarem a verificar se o coração e a cabeça ainda estão no lugar certo.
Nesta fase da minha vida fez-me todo o sentido escolher a Arte da Guerra, um manual de perolas de sabedoria repleto de palavras que ecoam dentro de mim.
Apesar de se pensar que foi escrito como “manual de estratégia militar” sobreviveu ao longo de séculos como um livro de ensinamentos que ultrapassaram as fileiras militares e hoje continuam a inspirar pessoas por toda a parte.
Para mim este livro é acima de tudo um livro que incita ao autoconhecimento e o autocontrolo, colocando como prioridade evitar a todo o custo entrar em batalhas.
“Toda a vitória militar é sempre uma derrota”, este é um ensinamento que guardo para a vida, por vezes a maior força está em evitar o conflito. No entanto, sempre que é necessário travar algum tipo de batalha, é importante ter um conta alguns critérios:
“Quem o inimigo conhece e a si mesmo se conhece,
nunca em cem batalhas estará em risco:
Quem o inimigo não conhece, e apenas a si mesmo
Umas vezes vencerá, e outras perderá;
Quem o inimigo não conhece, nem a si mesmo
Está em risco em qualquer batalha.”
Na duvida, é melhor não ir para a batalha, mas quando não há alternativa é melhor ir bem preparado, afinal; “ as vitórias podem ser antecipadas mas não podem ser forçadas”.
Went to Half Price Book Store- found a gorgeous hardcopy of the Autobiography of Benjamin Franklin. I read it last year and it was fabulous. I recommend. Still looking for the upcoming Aeschylus, Confucius, and Sophocles. Publishers need to make more good translations that are pretty classics too.
