Please don’t put slashes in your trigger warning tags. I just saw a post tagged both “epilepsy //“ and “flashing //“. The slashes at the end of the epilepsy tag did not prevent it from showing up in my epilepsy tag search. But the slashes in the flashing tag did prevent tumblr’s built in tag filters from recognizing it as a blacklisted tag. The only thing adding slashes does is make it harder for people who need to filter those tags to do so. (Also, I know xkit allows things to work differently, but people have different reasons for only using tumblr mobile. Like for me, as far as I know, there’s no good extension to disable autoplay on tumblr on desktop but the mobile app lets you disable autoplay, even though it’s not perfect. And you can’t add extensions to the mobile app so… please try to assume people are working with tumblr’s system, not that everybody has extensions to make tumblr work differently.)
TLDR;Don’t use slashes to try to censor tags, it just makes tags harder to filter, and don’t assume everyone uses xkit or other extensions.
It doesn’t matter how popular a thing is in some fandoms, not everyone wants to read, for example, about m-preg or a character being intersex. So if you use tags on AO3, please tag that stuff. Especially if you knew from the start you wanted to include these topics in a multichapter long fic people invest a lot of time in.
Yes, overtagging is a thing but this is definitely one of the tags you’d want to include if you’re not actively trying to be an ass.
If you don’t use tags at all, “chose not to warn” is the thing you want for people to know they’re reading a story at their own risk. But if you do tag, it’s really not gonna kill you to make it easier for people to filter it out. Because springing surprise m-preg etc. on a reader who doesn’t like it is kind of a dick move.

Im just asking PLEASE anyone who uses Tumblr, Instagram, etc, TAG your dolls with the brand and sculpt. You never know if anyone’s looking for that exact same doll and need to see more pictures and you’re doing everyone a favour, even yourself as you’re exposing yourself to more people

Excluding crossovers from the HDM book tag, we’re left with only 423 works! Granted, some of those crossovers are real crossovers, but many are not.
ExcludingAlternate Universe - DaemonsandAlternate Universe - His Dark Materials Fusion but including crossovers from the main HDM tag gets us 1401 works.
Out of the 2217, only 528 feature Lyra Belacqua (the most popular canon character for fanworks). Filtering out the two AU/fusion tags leaves me with 517 works about Lyra, so while those tags aren’t a perfect overlap for non-HDM works, they’re probably pretty close.
Tagging something as “MCU” when it’s an MCU fusion may not really matter. MCU is so big already and full of so many irrelevant things for a given MCU fan. They’ll probably search by character or ship anyway. But HDM is a small fandom, and like fifty percent of its results are irrelevant stuff.
That’s why tagging your Daemon AU as HDM makes you an asshole.
This.This! I wanted to rant about this for a good long while. A couple of years ago I went to find HDM fics. I love the books and had just watched the first season of the TV series and had a hankering for fic, irrespective of ship/character. I did some sorting and filtering (I tend to check out the popular stuff first, to see what’s out there) and… I could find nothing! I’m not kidding, but out of the 20 results you get on a page on AO3, maybe one fic was for HDM. The rest was Teen Wolf with daemons; Destiel with daemons; MCU with daemons; Hannigram with daemons; and so on. OK maybe not these actual fandoms, I can’t remember which, but most of the results were other fandoms with no HDM characters in sight.
When I want to read in a fandom, I usually want to read about the characters. If I feel a desire to read HP, I don’t want to click on a HP-tagged fic and find Naruto characters exclusively. Which might be a great fic! And I do like Naruto. But that’s not what I want at the time.
Please consider carefully if you need to add the fandom tag when an additional tag (Hogwarts AU; Daemons AU) might suffice.

There’s an art to tagging posts. Tags are used to find content you want to see. They’re also used to filter out content you don’t want to see.
When you tag your posts, think about the wider audience. If you’re posting content that people might not want to see, tag filtered words like #gore, #triggerwarning, or #spoilers. It’s impossible to know what tags people are blocking. So when in doubt, be as specific in the tags as possible.
For example, long text posts take up a lot of space. Scrolling through walls of text makes it harder for people to browse and find images. Long text posts are sometimes tagged #longposts for people who are filtering out that tag.
