i am a hero of the trojan war who says stuff like “i often sit in my halls weeping and sorrowing for the men who perished in the broad land of troy” and “i love to it when my wife mixes my drink with drugs to quiet my pain and strife.”

luddlestons:

I have a new Ancient Ship and it’s called Telemachus and Peisistratus. They just give me vibes that are very LGBT.

For those unused to my newfound Homeric Nonsense:

Telemachus is the son of Odysseus, an all-around dumbass teenager who goes on a trip to find his dad and whines a lot about it and shares a bed with another boy TWO TIMES (possibly more) and they go on a life-changing journey to Sparta together on which they become “intimate friends”. No, that’s literally the wording.

Peisistratus is a prince of Pylos, one of the many sons of Nestor, he wanted to go to the Trojan War but he was a literal baby then. He’s more outspoken and does most of the talking while Telemachus is doing Social Anxiety.

They both have long-ass names that are annoying af to type out every time.

WIP of another Athena piece. Wasn’t so happy with the first one I did a while back so I decided to have another go at it. This is going to be part of a larger piece inspired by the first few chapters of the Odyssey where Athena and Telemachus have a right skulk around the place.

This papyrus fragment contains three lines from Book 20 from Homer’s Odyssey. This piece dates back to the early Hellenistic period, around 285-250BC.

Book 20 is when tensions are almost at their highest: Odysseus is fearful at the high number of suitors he and Telemachus will have to overcome, and the suitors themselves start to rumble with Ctesippus lugging a cow’s hoof at Odysseus. This, and the eagle carrying a dove in its talons, are all symbolic of the growing tension of what will follow in the next few books.
