Renovation, moving into my new home, working and heat make me transform into a stressed, cursing monster… I needed distraction so I finished a Lightwood Bane Family sketch I started a while ago …because they’re great distraction and I think Alec and Magnus are great at handling stress situations because they are amazing! ☺
Magnus waited in the silence. After a moment, Alec said quietly, “I’ve never loved anybody like this before. Maybe I’m not saying it right, but it’s what I feel.”
I’ve never loved anybody like this before.
Magnus’s heart seemed to break open, spilling love and desire through his veins. “Alec,” Magnus whispered. “You said everything perfectly.”
Chairman Meow approached Magnus with tilted-head furrowed hesitation before slinking in between his legs in a few figure eights. The cat then leaped onto Magnus’s body like a mountain climber, bounding into his hands and scaling up his arm to perch on his shoulder. He purred near Magnus’s ear, licked his cheek with his sandpaper tongue, and jumped off without even a look back, having completed his necessary greeting.
“I love you, too, Chairman Meow,” Magnus called after him.
“Stop telling me to let you go,” said Alec. “I will never listen. I want to be with you. I never wanted anything more in my life. If you fall, I want to fall with you.”
“Stay with me,” Magnus said, taking Alec’s face in his hands. The fires burning around them, reflected in Alec’s eyes, became stars. “I love being with you. I love everything about you, Alexander.”
Alec, with his heartbreaking contradictions, shy and brave, relentless and tender. Alec’s midnight-blue eyes, and the look on his face when they had their first kiss. And their last. Magnus had not thought today’s kiss would be their last. But nobody ever did know, when the last kiss came.
Magnus saw all his dearest friends. All his lost mortals, and all those who would live on. His mother, who he could never make laugh; Etta of the beautiful voice that had kept him dancing; his first Shadowhunter friend, Will. Ragnor, always the teacher, who had gone on before. Catarina, her healing hands and endless grace. Tessa of the steadfast heart and great courage. Raphael, who would sneer at this sentiment. His Clary, the first and last child Magnus had ever watched grow up, and the warrior woman he knew she would become.
And then Alec again.
Alec running up the steps of Magnus’s brownstone in Brooklyn to ask him out. Alec holding on to him in cold water, offering Magnus all his own strength. The stunning surprise of Alec’s warm mouth, his sure, strong hands, in the hall of his angelic ancestors. Alec shielding Downworlders at the palazzo in Venice, coming for Magnus through a cloud of demons, trying to shield Magnus through every land and at every turn. Alec choosing Magnus over the Clave every time, without hesitation. Alec turning against the Laws he had always lived by to protect Magnus and keep his secrets.
“Wait,” said Helen. “So you’re saying that your boyfriend isn’t the leader of the Crimson Hand, but you have another travel companion who is? Like, do you always insist on traveling with cultists?”
Alec glanced at Aline for support, but she only spread her hands, as if to indicate that she felt Helen was making a fair point.
“No, I always insist on traveling with cult leaders ,” said Alec.
“So I wasn’t part of your plans… at all?” Magnus said, incredulous. “But you went after my oldest friend… and the warlock who tried to drag me into Asmodeus’s control three years ago.”
“You’ll forgive me,” said Sammael, “if I think of Ragnor Fell as ‘the most knowledgeable expert alive on the subject of dimensional magic’ first, and your ‘oldest friend’ second. As for Shinyun, she came to me.”
Magnus looked helplessly over at Ragnor, who shrugged.
Shaking his head, Sammael said, “I don’t know how to tell you this, but not everything is about you, Magnus.
Now I remember Cassandra Clare saying that there’s going to be an extra story about “Jem and Tessa’s wedding and why no one remembers it” my question is, is this story going to be in The Lost Book of The White first edition or Chain of Iron first edition? I can’t for the life of me remember which one it was and I can’t find the post where she said that!! TIA
