Though of the day - I tell all of my students, especially new students, that the two most important things about martial arts training are -

1) Listening
2) Paying Attention to Detail

I CANNOT stress this enough. I get it, when you start, you want to jump right in, and learn all of the cool, flashy stuff. You want to do what the whole class is doing, not the dumbed down version. But trust and believe when your coaches tell you to, “TAKE YOUR TIME”. Learn the fundamentals and the rest will come. It is very cliché to say that you have to crawl before you, walk — walk before you run, but in all reality, it’s true.
