#vintage military
At times I’m awfully tempted to create a blog just for the appreciation of vintage men in extraordinary or wonderful hats. But I’m sure such a thing must exist already somewhere, so I shall just post occasional pictures in which the hats are especially noteworthy. This one also contains some affectionate gentlemen in fine uniforms, and a very pretty dog.

Another submission here, though Tumblr cannot grasp that fact and give credit to the right name, this picture was sent to me by someone under the name of simply Nice Guy - thankyou, sir!
At first glance I thought they were covering thmselves up, but when viewed full size it’s apparent they’re using their hands to display rather than hide! This may be a little late for my collection, but it would be rude to turn away such an interesting photograph!

Forgive me a minor deviation from our usual theme, but I found this photograph of my own great-grandfather this week - taken 1914 when he enlisted in the British Army at the age of 19, one of the first to go, and fortunate enough to come back safe.
We share a remarkable resemblance for being three generations apart - identical mouth and jawline, and my nose would have been very similar too, had I not broken it two times too many and been left with quirky asymmetry.
