✨ It’s a pivotal moment when you get fed up with your own shit.

I’m so sick and tired of my own excuses. “I’m too tired.” “I work too much.” “I have to do x, y and z.”
•
This is the first time I’ve been to the gym and actually kicked my own ass in months. After starting my new job, I let work and stress consume my life. I’ve been basically binge eating my weight in Panera Bread and not moving at all. On my days off, I would just get all of my errands for the week done and then lay in bed.
•
That ends now. I can’t not take care of myself. I know I’ve gained weight - thank god I put my scale away - but mostly, I feel like crap. Treat yourself like crap, feel like crap. The most important thing to me is my health and I CANNOT let that go.

I’m so excited to see what changes I can make in the coming months. I have a new found motivation and I’m ready to see where it takes me ✨

✨ We are home and I’m already missing this bathtub probably the best staycation we have ever taken! The Cosmopolitan is definitely going to be a regular stop for us when we need to get ‘away’ - but still stay in Vegas haha. Everyone was always surprised to hear we were locals.

The Chandelier Bar. Each level has special cocktails!
Beauty and Essex. The food is so amazing and so are the drinks! It is shared plate style and I highly recommend the grilled cheese and tomato soup dumplings, the Mexican street corn ravioli and the chicken meatballs. For drinks, try the Berries and Bubblies
The Wicked Spoon buffet - go for brunch. Just do it. Trust me
Eggslut. Order The Slut. Thank me later
If you can, stay in the one bedroom terrace suite with the fountain view. Holy crap. Best view in Las Vegas!

✨Its our two year anniversary! These two years have been filled with amazing times, but also some trying times. It’s unfortunate that our first year of marriage was rocked with the passing of my father - and although it was the hardest thing I’ve ever been through, we got through it. Then we made the move to Las Vegas and it changed our lives - not without its struggles, of course.

These two years have taught me that if you don’t put in the work for your marriage, it’s not going to work. You have to treat it with as much care and effort as you would your job or your fitness regimen. You can’t just not put in an effort and assume it’s going to take care of itself. People have needs and relationship have needs. They needs love, communication, trust, nurturing, compassion, and hard work. I learned that the hard way but you know what? It’s worth it. If both people work just as hard as they did when they first got together, magical things can happen ✨

✨ There has been an article going around saying it’s been scientifically proven that women sleep better next to their dogs - even as opposed to their significant others.
And I have to say…. that article is right Fozzi is my soulmate. He’s my emotional support, my fur baby, my angel bear, my comfort at night when I have nightmares.
We rescued Fozzi from @wrightwayrescue almost 6 years ago! He was 4 years old - terrified, malnourished and traumatized from abuse. He was shaking like a leaf until they put him in my arms and he instantly calmed down, and I knew right then and there that he was my baby. Since then, we have been inseparable. If you know me, you know Fozzi is attached to my hip like no other - and I wouldn’t have it any other way!

✨ Something I’ve been struggling with lately is “too much” self care. Too much “treating myself”. I use quotations because that’s what I call it to make myself feel better - when in reality, it’s unhealthy.
My anxiety and stress have been getting the better of me. I use food and material things as a comfort. On the bright side, at least I’m aware I’m doing these things. Admitting you have a problem is the first step, right?
Self care isn’t binge eating or charging your feelings away on your credit card. I can make excuses all day of “but that’s how I was raised!” or “it’s not so bad, I can afford it” - but I know it’s a problem. I’m trying to fill this void inside, one that I’m not entirely sure why it’s there. I suppose that’s the mystery of anxiety.
Self care is realizing there is a problem. Self care is taking steps to actually do things that make you feel better instead of worse. Taking baths, reading tarot cards, yoga, pole, exercise. Most of these things I’ve been neglecting due to work and just being constantly exhausted but that’s changing this week. I need to take care of myself. My health and well-being depend on it.
How do you take care of yourself when you feel your anxiety rearing it’s ugly head? Any tips and tricks are appreciated ☺️ I will also be seeking out a therapist to see here in Vegas. I saw one regularly in Chicago but have yet to find one here. Therapy helped me a lot - hopefully this is the sign someone needs to reach out and find help! ✨
