When I first moved in this room hadn’t been decorated in about 20 years and that really is a generous estimate if the Pocahontas border and brown carpet were any indication.
Anyway we spent many long days getting it to this point with as little money as possible. Doing things like sanding the floor with a hand sander and staining it ourselves. It was back breaking work but every morning I wake up and feel so much better seeing a fresh and positive space.

I may not be able to afford a nice new bed to replace the 15 year old one I have but I was able to get a lovely mattress topper.

I may not be able to get all those cute decorations from Zara home but I can find old family nicknacks and give them a new home.

I may not have a lot of possessions but hey it makes it a hell of a lot easier to keep clean.


I remember when my friend came over and looked around room and asked when I was moving the rest of my stuff in and proceeded to look totally perplexed when I informed here that this was in fact all my stuff.

I don’t mean this as an attack on anyone else’s lifestyle, if you can afford to by lots of things and it makes you happy rock on but for those who might be in a bit of a slump or feeling a little inferior to the 'influencers’ ( I know I do from time to time )
Remember that they are salespeople presenting something to you just like when you see an infomercial on the tv. You don’t need to spend tons of money to live a happy fulfilled life. You can have pretty clothes (maybe not as many), you can eat delicious food ( maybe in won’t be organic, hand picked by woodland nymphs or what ever) and you can live in a nice space (even if you have to sand the floors by hand )

Some times it takes having less to be able to see what there is to appreciate. I doubt you will look back on your life in say 40 years time and think “ drat! I wish I had purchased more things!”

And remember ever penny saved else where can go to glorious, glorious hummus !!

What Does It Mean To Think Catastrophically & Mindfulness Techniques To Help Overcome It

Catastrophic thinking is a type of irrational thinking, which is very common in people who suffer from anxiety disorders such as social anxiety disorder, avoidant personality disorder, generalised anxiety disorder, OCD, panic attacks and PTSD. This type of thinking usually has continuous thoughts about the future in a very negative way. These thoughts are usually what I call ‘What if?’ thoughts, and its these types of thoughts that lead to fear, dread, worry and distress. The main reason why many people with anxiety think this way is because they have a severe phobia of the unknown and what will happen to them in the future.

Psychologically speaking, these thoughts are just in our imagination from stored images from previous experiences such as traumas from our past. This is called fragmentation. After witnessing a trauma, our brains store the experience into images, which will be placed into our subconscious mind. This is the reason why some thoughts may come up and not make any sense to you or the people around you at all. Sometimes these distressing thoughts can come up in dreams and that is why many patients with PTSD and C-PTSD often have nightmares and night terrors.  

However, there is a way of overcoming and healing from this dysfunctional type of thinking. Living in the present moment is the best way to heal from catastrophic thinking. This is because it gets you in tune with what is going on right now, at this moment in time - not yesterday, not tomorrow or in five or ten years from now. Knowing that you or your loved ones are completely safe at this very moment is a very good tool to use to stop disastrous thinking. Being here in the present, listening to your breath and being mindful of your thoughts and feelings will help with any kind of anxiety disorder. 

As someone who has suffered from severe anxiety in the past, I have realised from my own experience that a lot of it stems from a lack of trust towards ourselves and others. When we lack trust, we start looking for reassurance and whether not we are making the right decision or not, and continuously ask for advice leading to frustration and even more doubt. This is why learning and allowing yourself to fully surrender and let go in a state of anxiety is important part of the healing process. I have previously written about trust and surrender here on this blog, if you want to read those.

Anxiety Visualisation Exercise

Close your eyes and imagine yourself sitting in the eye of a storm, the calm centre that lies behind the chaos that is going around it. You see pieces of debris floating around of all different sizes, which represent the thoughts you carry with you. Observe them and look at what they are showing to you, like you are watching a movie. You know that you are completely safe and serene in this eye of a storm and you know that it will not hurt you. Suddenly, you begin to see the storm move swiftly across, taking all of your negative thoughts with it. You feel a sense of deep peace and emotional freedom, like someone has taken a heavy bag off of your shoulders. You stand up and begin to walk towards the sun that is shining in between the clouds smiling, feeling liberated and full of joy. When you have finished this visualisation exercise, open your eyes.

I am beyond proud to say i exited the building carrying only a water and an egg white sandwich. I have officially been caffeine free for about 4 weeks! I haven’t been on Plexus that long, but I know in my heart, if I didn’t have something curbing those cravings I would have caved.
We will chalk today up as a win!

I feel a little bit bloated right now but I think that is the process beginning! My energy levels are still way up and I go go go all day!

I have officially been on Plexus for a week in a half now and I don’t even remember what it’s like to be groggy and tired. It is so great to feel alive!!

So Today I upped my Bio Cleanse to the suggested 2 after breakfast and 2 after lunch! I hadn’t really felt much of a difference doing 1 and 1…other than the fact that I felt great! After taking two in the am after lunch I did feel some rumbles in my stomach but nothing painful or uncomfortable by any means! I could just tell that my stomach was doing something but nothing ever came of it, even after my second dose in the afternoon. Tonight I will also take my first ProBio5! I feel slightly nervous that I will have some crazy reaction…but how could I!?!? It’s all made from plants.

Otherwise, I am feeling seriously energetic! I was up late (WAY past my usual Sunday bedtime) at the Jags vs Bengals game and got up right on time for work this am and I am not sure I even yawned today! It is really insane I can feel this great! I feel aware and more alive now! I also feel like I am much more productive on homework and other ventures at night!

I will keep you posted on how ProBio5 goes this evening!
