A cheerleading captain was stabbed to death moments after celebrating at a basketball team’s title-winning parade, police have said.

#KaylaGreen was allegedly killed by a 15-year-old girl who reportedly #bullied her.

The killer is believed to have shared images of the weapon on social media before the stabbing, CBS reports.

A second girl, who was described as the 16-year-old’s best friend, was also stabbed in the attack but is expected to survive.

A cop is understood to have tried to break it up, but Kayla died after she was reportedly stabbed in the back and side.

The suspect, who cannot be named because of her age, was ordered to stay in jail by a judge.

She faces charges including manslaughter in the first degree.

The charges may be upgraded by #WestchesterCounty District Attorney Mimi Rocah, reports say.

The teen suspect is accused of fleeing the scene and of trying to dispose of the knife that was used in #MountVernon, #NewYork.

The suspect’s lawyer has hit out at those for “jumping to conclusions” about the case online.

Pamela Hayes said: “Everyone is jumping to conclusions.

"The things that are being said have nothing to do with what happened here.”

At a rally in Kayla’s honour, City Councilman Derrick Thompson said: “Nobody deserves to die. Let our young people live up to their fullest potential.”

A spokesperson for Green’s victim’s family called the teen “a beautiful big sister” who dreamed of being a doctor.

Shannae Heywood added: “She was a cheerleader, a captain, an inspiration.”

Heywood thanked the officer who “risked his life” trying to “stop a mob of misguided, violent teens.”

Coach Mikeya Knox said: “Kayla had plans. She wanted to go to #MorganStateUniversity. She wasn’t a kid who hung out on the street. She was a good kid.”

A #GoFundMe to help her family fight for “justice” had raised more than $31,000.

#NewJersey’s Supreme Court voted to grant parole to a former member of the #BlackLiberationArmy convicted of killing a state trooper alongside infamous exile #AssataShakur in 1973 - despite outcry from the governor and local police.

#SundiataAcoli, 85, had several parole bids previously rejected but his attorneys argued he’d been a model prisoner for nearly three decades and has counseled other inmates.

Today’s Supreme Court decision overrules the state parole board whcih contended that Acoli is still a risk to commit future crimes and hasn’t taken full responsibility for Trooper Werner Foerster´s death.

Acoli’s more-famous co-defendant, Joanne Chesimard, also known as Assata #Shakur, was convicted and sentenced to a life term but escaped from a New #Jersey prison in 1979.

Shakur was given asylum in #Cuba by then-President Fidel Castro and remains a fugitive. She was also famously a ‘godmother’ to the late rapper #TupacShakur through her friendship with his mother.

In a statement, New Jersey’s progressive Democrat Governor Phil Murphy said he was 'deeply disappointed’ by the ruling.

State Attorney General and Murphy appointee Matthew Platkin said in a statement, 'I am grateful to the attorneys in my office who opposed the release of Sundiata Acoli and I am disappointed that he will be released on parole.’

Colonel Patrick Callahan, the current head of New Jersey’s State Police, wrote on Facebook that he spoke with Foerster’s widow Rosa when the news came in.

’[She] is as devastated and disappointed by this decision as I am,’ Callahan wrote. 'Acoli’s release is not only an injustice for the Foerster family and the men and women who serve within the New Jersey State Police, but to every law enforcement officer in this country who dedicates their lives for the safety of the citizens we are sworn to protect.’

In Tuesday’s 3-2 ruling with Chief Justice Stuart Rabner not participating, the court held that the state parole board didn’t meet its required burden of demonstrating there was a substantial likelihood of Acoli committing another crime.

#ViolaDavis’ new memoir #FindingMe was released April 26, and as with life, #forgiveness just might be what holds it all together.

The #Chicago Sun Times calls the memoir “Brutally #honest and honestly brutal,” likening Davis to “the victim of a disaster still dazed by the experience but remembering every terrible moment.”

Davis uses her memoir to detail her rise from poverty and other #trauma to emerge alive, intact, and #successful on the other side.

Growing up poor in Central Falls, #RhodeIsland, Davis was often so hungry she and her five siblings had to resort to dumpster-diving for food. School lunches were their only reliable meal. They lived in house that lacked reliable heat and plumbing, and was so rat-infested, she and her sisters tied bedsheets around their necks at night so the rats wouldn’t bite them. They often attended school unwashed, in dirty clothes.

Davis shared experiences of violence and #sexualabuse as children.

“Myself, my mother, my sisters… my friend from childhood, we all have one thing in common,” said Davis at a #RapeFoundation Event in 2020. “We are all #survivors of sexual assault in some way, shape or form.”

She then shared the #heartbreaking story of her sister, who was sexually assaulted at the age of 8. “My sister is now a heroin addict, she’s a prostitute,” she told the crowd. Davis also endured sexual abuse by boys who were supposed to be babysitters.

In addition to the sexual abuse and the poverty, Davis also had to cope with constant #bullying and terrorizing from a group of boys who chased her and threw rocks at her for being Black in the predominantly white town of #CentralFalls.

And if all that wasn’t already far more than enough, she experienced physical and emotional abuse at the hands of her alcoholic father, Dan, who regularly beat her mother, Mae Alice. On one occasion, Davis’ father smashed a glass against her mother’s face until she intervened.

In her memoir, she opens up about how although forgiveness isn’t easy, it’s necessary to survival — just as it was necessary to hers. #SWIPE (for the rest) #SWIPELEFT

Bill Cosby’s latest sex assault civil trial will begin Wednesday following a Los Angeles woman’s 2014 lawsuit claiming the disgraced comedian molested her when she was a teenager in the 1970s.

Judy Huth, 64, sued Cosby, 84, alleging that the former actor brought her to the Playboy Mansion and forced her to perform a sex act around 1975, when she was 16.

She is seeking unspecified damages for sexual battery and emotional distress.

In her lawsuit, Huth said she and a friend met Cosby at a film set at a park. She said Cosby invited the girls to meet him the following week, when he made Huth drink beer and molested her on a bed at the Los Angeles mansion.

The former actor will not attend the Santa Monica trial. Cosby’s attorney, Jennifer Bonjean, said, ‘We are confident that the evidence will discredit Plaintiff´s 50-year-old allegation.’

Another lawyer for Cosby confirmed he would not be present on Wednesday. His representatives say glaucoma has left him blind and made travel too difficult.

Gloria Allred, who represents Huth and has also handled several Jeffrey Epstein’s victims, said her client will not comment on the case.

His family-friendly reputation was shattered after more than 50 women accused him of multiple sexual assaults over nearly five decades.

Cosby’s attorneys, who say no sexual abuse happened, are likely to emphasize that the burden of proving the nearly 50-year-old case lies entirely with the plaintiffs. They have acknowledged that Cosby took Huth to the Playboy Mansion, as a photo from the visit shows, but say they believe she was not a minor when it happened.

The trial is one of the last cases Cosby faces after a Pennsylvania appeals court threw out his criminal sexual assault conviction and freed him from prison 11 months ago. Several other lawsuits alleging sexual misconduct were settled by his insurer against his will.

Cosby will not testify after the judge ruled that he could assert his Fifth Amendment privilege against self-incrimination. And he has no plans to leave his Pennsylvania home to attend the trial. #Dailymail

The struggle to protect black girls and women remains. Unfortunately, black women remain vulnerable to sexual violence due to what we call intersectionality, the systematic oppression black women experience based upon their race and gender.

These institutionalized practices and policies prevent their equitable enforcement. Because of what is known as the “Strong Black Woman” archetype (Beauboeuf-Lafontant, 2009), the dangerous single story told about black women that uplifts their strength, perseverance and survival and minimizes their emotional well-being, tenderness and humanity, black women are rarely protected. In fact, black women are rarely protected while.

How can you help?

#Become an informed ally. #Learn more about the relationship between colonialism and sexual violence. Consider reading more books by black women scholars who are writing about the daily lived experiences of black women, including sexual violence.

#CiteBlackWomen is a good start. Center black women in your advocacy.

#Contact your elected officials and share this data. Ask them what they are doing specifically to improve the sexual violence experienced by black women. It may be helpful to explain how institutions contribute to gendered racism. Ask them to reauthorize the Violence Against Women Act.

#Support organizations that work on behalf of black women in your area. This may require you doing some research, talking with black women and allowing them to tell you what they need.

Black women should not be the forgotten survivors of sexual violence.

#Texas The death toll has risen to 21 after a mass shooting Tuesday at a #Uvalde, #Texas elementary school, according to authorities.

The tragedy in Uvalde was the deadliest school shooting in Texas history and added to a grim tally of mass shootings in the state that has been among the deadliest in the U.S. over the past five years.

19 children and 2 adults were killed, authorities said, as the gunman went classroom to classroom firing with multiple guns.

The Uvalde Consolidated Independent School District said the active shooter situation was reported at Robb Elementary School, which has an enrollment of just under 600 students, just before noon. They said all campuses were placed under lockdown due to the gunfire. Officials said second, third and fourth graders attend the school.

According to Gov. Greg Abbott, the

18-year-old shooter is believed to be Salvador Ramos, who is from Uvalde.

Ramos, who was wearing body armor and had hinted on social media of an upcoming attack, crashed his car outside the school and went inside armed, Sgt. Erick Estrada of the Texas Department of Public Safety told CNN.

A #Texas deputy has been relieved of her duties after she was allegedly found using her boyfriend’s taser on her three children aged 8, 11, and 12.

Former #HarrisCounty Precinct 4 Deputy Constable Xochitl Ortiz, 34, appeared in court on May 20 to face three counts of causing injury to children younger than 15.

Each count carries a possible sentence of 10 years in prison, under Texas law.

Ortiz was a two-year veteran of the force. Her boyfriend, former deputy Christopher Worthington, has also been fired the department. He joined in October 2020.

The alleged abuse occurred at Ortiz’s apartment in town of Tomball between April 1 and 4 this year.

During that time, Ortiz is accused of ‘drive stunning’ her children with an 'electric self-defense device.’ She is believed to have used her fellow deputy boyfriend’s department issued Taser.

According to Police1, a 'drive-stun’ is 'generally considered to be a pain-compliance technique that is a lesser quantum of force than deploying the probes.’

Prosecutors say that the children told their father, who is divorcing their mom, about the alleged abuse.

They said they were tasered in the bottom, hand and shoulder.

Ortiz’s children reported the alleged abuse to their father, and that they “do not feel safe” in her home, a probable cause finding prosecutors filed in Harris County District Court states, adding that the boys “made consistent statements of abuse” by their mom to state child protection workers. Ortiz and the children’s dad are currently going through a divorce.

The hearing officer during the court appearance told Ortiz: 'The facts allege that you used a Taser to tase each of your children: one on the hand, one on the buttocks, one on the shoulder. The facts allege the complaining witnesses complained of shock and pain and don’t feel safe in your home,’ reports KTRK.

Ortiz was remanded in custody. At the time of writing, Ortiz is not longer listed as an inmate on the Harris County jail meaning that she has posted bond.

Her bail had been set at $450,000, it was later lowered to $150,000. #Dailymail
