The cardigan was from Alley Cat Vintage Mercantile in Wichita Falls, TX, which is an amazing vintage store. The pencil skirt is one of the finds when I visited my favorite store Raspberry beret, Cambridge.
This beauty was on sale, only $10.00, who could miss this out?? Glad it was waiting for me on a sale rack, though!!
These handmade jacket and top set was also marked down. Well, my question was “ why nobody has wanted to buy these? They are beautiful!! ” Once again, I was so happy that I was the one to bring it home ;)
They has been adding their vintage selection more, and it is so hard to not drop by on the way back from work to home. Yes, I see them every day and it is getting a big problem… lol
I made nibushiki-juban from my vintage beautiful silk juban by myself.
I bought this juban from Hyotan-ya, which is an antique/vintage kimono store in Osaka (I’m sad that the store is not open right now, hopefully the owner will start his business again soon!), almost 10 years ago… !!
This is actually my first juban, but it is difficult to wear antique kimono because they are a little too small, or the fabric is worn out and if you pull the fabric too hard, it would break off.
Anyway, I didn’t wan’t to ruin it, and had kept it like a treasure for a long time. But now I’m confident enough to wear them and it is actually in a very good condition than I thought.
But the problem was, as usual, it was short. So I decided to make nibushiki-juban out of it.
I always wear nibushiki-juban, because it is easy to wear, easy to shape the emon nicely.
First, cut it in 2 pieces! Be bold and just cut it!!
It’s better to have the edge a little bit longer so you can sew it up.
Like this.
The bottom part. I searched and referred on the Internet and found some nice instructions to make juban.
The blog has a lot of recipe to make kimono stuff!! Very cool ;)
I love anqitue/vintage kimono, but the size had been always an issue, but now juban, I will be able to buy anything with this technique. It is so exiting!!
A month ago I welcomed this lovely and warm Norwegian hand-knitted vintage sweater from @cambridgeraspberryberet ! Especially I knit myself and that sweater is a masterpiece to me… All stitches are lined up regularly, no mistakes, just perfect! MA has been warmer than usual and I don’t really have many chance to wear it. I wouldn’t be convenient when it starts snowing, but I kind of hope the temperature would drop down and I enjoy all of my winter clothes without sweating lol
knitted this blouse from an actuall vintage pattern! I love the shape(for me it can be a little bit smaller), and it was very easy to follow.
Knitting =Zen to me. My mind or brain is completely empty, just the rhythm and the ritual finger gesture.
My very first cardigan :) I’m delighted that it turned out very wearable, fitting well on me and it’s definitely one of my favorite outfit now!! The pattern was very easy to follow, I will try this one again with different motifs in the future. I had thought that it was much better to buy sweaters and cardigans than making them myself, but why not? It is fun :) However, sewing buttons was very tiring, it felt like it never ends!!
I am very pleased to hear that the couple and the guests enjoyed the embroidered wedding sign. I didn’t expect that my letter which I sent them to show the making process would be placed at the venue! Thank you very much, and wishing you a lifetime of love and happiness!
