Bird of Paradise From Seed Check ✅!!! THEY ARE GROWING!
This is so exciting, but from personal experience, it is still too soon to scream victory! Seedlings are especially sensitive to anything. Too much of this, too little of that, if you miss to check on them one day, then you might lose them.
I’m manually watering them and placing them outside during the day, for them to get full sun. Then taking them back in to protect them from the cold and outsiders
If you haven’t watched them, I posted about 3 videos of the process back in November if I remember right. It took about 8 weeks for them to sprout. This is week 10.
The feral parakeets of London’s parks love figs and apples. Any place you see a fig tree, they are going crazy on it.
No one knows where they call came from - did Jimi Hendrix release them in 1968? Did they escape from the filmset of the African Queen in 1951…? Did they escape from aviaries after the Great Storm of 1987? No one knows for sure. There’s now tens of thousands of them in London and they are cheeky as.

Bird of Paradise
Everyone showed up for Leinani’s birthday party! Especially the island kids gang. There was coconut cake for all as well as a number of traditional feast dishes. Alice is a water loving child of the ocean and Uku is a true child of the island so not surprisingly, Leinani has a bit of both in her. However, after the party when she went out for a swim, Lei discovered she has inherited more than just the island traditions from her father!

Bird of Paradise
Whilst Leinani is off at school, Alice and Uku spend their day visiting some friends and even decide to stop in at the beach cave. It is the first time they have been there since Alice’s mysterious encounter with a hidden mermaid, but this time they go in together. After school, Lei’s little gang joins in at the town bonfire where they build masses of sand sculptures.
