LIVE

Shared this video with our Patrons last month, thought Tumblr might like to see it now too ♥

“We started filming at 8 am and didn’t leave til like 5 in the afternoon… we had some outtakes, and clips we had taken ahead of time that we never did get to use.  So, enjoy our chaos.

I should have made this video a long time ago. I was so busy during the Kickstarter run, and then after the Kickstarter ended, I just didn’t want to look at the clips. It felt bad, it hurt. When filming I was so excited, I kept telling myself “Wow! This is really happening! Almost a year of working on this, and we’re finally making the video, and soon it will go live and all my dreams will come true!"I was a little too optimistic I guess.

We had so many struggles in our first year, after multiple companies charging thousands of dollars for prototypes they didn’t deliver. To having to throw together a dress for the doll literally the night before because the seamstress used WAY too thick of a fabric. To even having to edit the video at the very last second because I was just not happy with the way it was being done. Even right before the trip, we were contacted by a company that claimed to work with a shark from shark tank, told us for $20,000 they would take care of EVERYTHING and gave us links to (successful) Kickstarters they claimed to have worked with. And we almost believed them.

But even after all that, I am proud of what we did accomplish. Even if we had to do a bit of ‘starting over’ now. We did good. And we learned a lot, so now we’re prepared to be even better.

The future of Curvy Girls is looking brighter than ever. And that’s really why I was now able to go back, because these clips no longer make me sad from what could have been. They’re now a stepping stone on the path of what is going to be.

And I’m excited.”

You’ve probably been wondering what we have been working on since the canceled Kickstarter. Well, we have reevaluated a lot and I’ll lay some of it out in different posts. We were told by our initial manufacturer that it would go from idea to doll in hand in 6 months. Long story, short: scam. We never received anything from him but during that time we rushed on everything to meet that 6 month target. Even our logo was rushed. So first, here is our new logo. We removed the curvy girl because we don’t want to show preference to any doll or race of doll, etc.

This is still very much happening.

Today we mourn the passing of my two weeks of Christmas/New Year leave. So I’m stepping back into work today in all black. This dress, while basic, is such an excellent wardrobe staple, also it has pockets. The dress (size XL) and necklace are both from Taking Shape.

Still working those summer time vibes. Love this boho sundresses in this summer’s hottest colour khaki (I don’t know why it’s such a hot colour this season but it is everywhere). The dress is from Autograph in size 26 and the cover up is also from Autograph in size XXL.

A special weekday slay today! I’m still on holidays until Monday, but this being a weekday I thought I’d show what I’m slaying today. I am at the Splash Bar T the beautiful Ville resort. This is the first time I’ve posted a picture of myself in a swimsuit on the internet. It’s a big step in my body positivity. Anyway the tankini top is from Autograph in size 26 the shorts are from Taking Shape size XL.

Welcome to holiday weekday slay! It’s so freaking hot here today and I’ve been outside all day. Fat girls deserve to be cool and comfortable too, not always hiding behind layers of fabric, cardigans, cover ups!

Bold stripes today! I am loving this top from Taking Shape (size 24). The fabric is light and soft and the colours of the print are just gorgeous. It is a little short in the front, so I can’t lift my arms up or it turns into a crop top. The joys of being tall and plus size.

A simple, chic look for today. Just keeping it cool because the air con at work has been failing with some regularity. I love the simplicity of this dress, but the detail at the neck and the hanky hem add some interest. The dress is from Taking Shape in size 24. I’ve paired it with a simple blue ballet flat, which I think are adorable with the crisscross ankle straps. The shoes are from Katie n Me in size 13.

chessieness:

  • support fat girls with weird curves
  • support fat girls with no butt
  • support fat girls with small boobs
  • dont just support the hour glass/big booty “acceptable” fat girl

This is why I do this blog! I have weird curves and small boobs! I think it’s important to be visible, to shout out hey I’m here, I’m unacceptable and I can still enjoy clothing and fashion.

First slay from my new house! The walk in wardrobe is making it both easier and harder to put outfits together.

Love this top from Autograph (size 26) with its faux lacework accented by bell sleeves and eyelash lace on the cuffs. The trousers are brand new palazzo pants from Yours Clothing (size 26-28). So comfortable in this hot weather.

Amanda Palmer, on Twitter, after seeing this advert and getting very sad:

i don’t have a tumblr account (i’m sorting that), but if i did i’d put that photo up there. do it for me. it’ll make me feel better.

And, well, I have a Tumblr…

You can follow the conversation about the photograph, advertising, age, freedom, independence, body hair etc. via a lot of retweets at https://twitter.com/amandapalmer

And you can talk about it here.

“brave & sexy are in the mind, not on the leg or under the pits.”

This ad is, for lack of a better term, gross.

Are you fucking kidding me?

Because it’s such a great idea to even further stigmatize normal bodies, especially when you’re dealing with adolescent females who are already being told that almost every aspect of their body isn’t good enough. So yeah, imply to them to that their body hair is gross and they need to remove that shit, yo.

Dorothy Perkins  Navy Stripe Bardot Dress £10

In the picture I am wearing a size UK 18. I love this dress. It is so comfortable. I had to shorten the straps a little at the top as my boobs are a little too high and left it slightly baggy. I got it for £12 in the shop so very happy to share this one with you for just £10!
