With the glorious wtfuckery of being able to just tack an 8’+ staff to your back not withstanding (EVERY GAME), the huge fuck you of attack tactics changing from ranged to fuck-you-that’s-my-personal-space-GTFO is ABSOLUTELY THE BEST. It’s also, hello, logical.

I can forgive freshly-out Warden Mage because the Circle sure as fuck wouldn’t teach that. But you also can’t tell me their adopted family wouldn’t teach them. You cannot tell me Dalish mages would just sit there. You can’t tell me any Warden mage would just sit there. Wardens are likely to run out of mana on the regular and if you want to survive, you better learn to conserve where you can and augment with physical for damned sure. Magic is a tool, but it can’t be there only tool in your arsenal or you’re fucked when it runs out.

Not to mention, the martial techniques Anders, Merrill, and mage Hawke use? The strength and dexterity to do that nearly non-stop during battle? And add to that that most of their staves are bladed at one end (short pike, blade staff) or at least a heavy-duty something-or-other that would undoubtedly make a solid thunking noise (or squooshy) and leave pretty indents. I sure as hell would not want to be on the receiving end of those swings.

Battlemages FUCKING RULE.

And as a rogue and assassin at heart, if you think my rogues don’t carry half a dozen ways to kill you if you get too close, you’ll maybe have time to regret that thought before you bleed out.

Framing “girl” and “boy” as separate genders from “woman” and “man” is such an amazing take. it’s a framework that accommodates and explains so many trans experiences. Some trans people never were their AGAB. Some feel like they were their AGAB, but that that changed (usually when puberty hits, which is when you start “becoming a man/woman”. The accepted societal path is that girls grow up to into women, and boys grow up into men. But some girls grow up into men, and some boys grow up into women. This guy was a boy who grew up into a man, which generally works out pretty well for people. Some boys and girls grow up into people who aren’t men or women, even! It’s like this random cis guy skipped right over transgender 101, 102, 201, etc. and stumbled directly into Transgender Nirvana.

This is like one of the things in Kate Bornstein’s gender workbook! Maybe not exactly adult-child, it’s been awhile since I read it, but it offers some prompts for thinking about other gendered identity shifts that aren’t The Big Trans One.

one of the many (many) reasons I’m going to be super pissed if Steve dies in Endgame is because it’s just going to be…a profoundly depressing end to his arc. Steve has not had anypeace. he’s never had the chance to. from the first time we see him fighting bullies in The First Avenger all the way through, Steve doesn’t get a single minuteof happiness or fulfillment. 

he talks in Winter Soldier about not knowing what he wants. he talks in Age of Ultron about never being able to go home. he’s constantly living in a state of crisis to crisis, because he doesn’t know how to stop, because he’s never been able to. 

and if after that - after losing to Thanos - he ends up dying? the idea of that being the conclusion of this man’s absolutely devastatinglife where he hasn’t had a moment’s relief to actually live?

that’s just goddamn sad,and it’s a story of futility in a lot of ways, and it’s a tragedy, and tragedy isn’t what I come to superhero movies for.

Kissinger of all people is trying to talk on Ukraine and he’s saying we should cede territory? I don’t know what WWE has planned for the 2018 (I do my best to avoid any spoilers or “insider gossip”) BUT I am guessing making the hypothesis that Kurt Angle will wrestle his “illegitimate son” Jason Jordan in some type of grudge match.

I honestly do not see the overall direction of the angle (pun intended) but it just feels as though the two men have to end up on opposing sides. At first, the WWE made it real sappy with the father-son/nepotism vibe, but thankfully they have kept the two men separate for the last couple weeks, and allowed Jordan to shine on his own with matches against John Cena and Roman Reigns.

Lets face it, Jason Jordan is a star. I believe someday he will be a main-event wrestler, however, the long-lost-son gimmick might leave a mark on his career - WWE career, anyway. The American Alpha tag team could have done so much more in WWE. In fact, they could have been this generation’s Steiner Brothers or Haas & Benjamin, yet the company chose to split them up. It’s such shame.

Now I realize some will argue that Jason Jordan lacks the charisma to be a ‘leading man’ in WWE and therefore needs the gimmick with Angle to better earn presence as a entertainer. {Was Kurt Angle’s Hall Of Fame speech about wrestler’s being ready to take advantange of the stories WWE gives them aimed at Jordan? Hmmmm.}

Anyway, Jordan has proven that he has the talent. All WWE has to do is put him in the ring with wrestlers that top-tier (see his matches w/ Balor, Cena, & Reigns). A match with Kurt Angle could be the one thing that will put Jordan on the rader and most importantly, take hime away from the gimmick.
