Okay, so, no joke this is my absolute first time doing #shibari and instead of practicing on an actual full-sized human I did it on a 6” #shfiguarts #actionfigure of #brucelee because hey why the fuck not. So yeah, the knots are messy, and that is the sloppiest pentagram harness ever but whatever. I had to use a paper clip to get the bindings as tight as I could. So yeah. All of that work for a gag photo. And I’m probably going to try it again.

This past week saw one of the most cautionary episodes of WARRIOR this show’s ever seen. Episode 9 follows the pursuit of an alleged killer whose San Francisco’s police carriage then gets swarmed by an Irish lynchmob who manage to get their way.

The moment this character is murdered brought back some of the most painful bookmarks in American history, internally recounting all the stories of human atrocity and hate crimes against minorities. As angering and scream-inducing as it was, it was also symbolic and representative of the very core of this show’s spotlight on Chinese immigrants near the turn of the century.

WARRIOR is as escapist and fun as it is emotionally compelling at times, and without question, has some of the strongest cast performances across the board. It’s key feature as a martial arts action IP in its committment to celebrating the life and legacy of Bruce Lee is well earned here too, with lead star Andrew Koji lighting up the screen with one of the finest action finales ever shot on TV.

This show deserves a third season. It deserves to have its story continue.

I had to post this because it was super cool!! Footage like this rare and it is so awesome to see in a historical perspective. This is a Sword exhibition filmed in October 1897 touched up in 1080P.

…………….

⚔️ This piece of vintage footage of a Japanese Sword Exhibition was Filmed in October 1897 by Lumiere camera operator Constant Girel
Shot in Kyoto, Japan it features an exhibition of the Ono Ha Itto Ryu Style.
I have colourised it and restored it to 1080P HD & 60FPS and thought it was too cool not to share.

Be like water making its way through cracks. Do not be assertive, but adjust to the object, and you shall find a way around or through it. If nothing within you stays rigid, outward things will disclose themselves.

Empty your mind, be formless. Shapeless, like water. If you put water into a cup, it becomes the cup. You put water into a bottle and it becomes the bottle. You put it in a teapot, it becomes the teapot. Now, water can flow or it can crash. Be water, my friend.

‘This morning, Deadline unveiled the first trailer for Birth of the Dragon, which recently made its debut at the Toronto International Film Festival. Ostensibly, the film depicts the legendary fight between Bruce Lee (played by Philip Ng) and Wong Jack Man (Yu Xia). But because this is Hollywood, the movie is going to be told from the perspective of a white dude.

Billy Magnussen plays Steve McKie (basically, Steve McQueen), one of Lee’s students and the one who brings Lee and Wong together. Apparently? Basically, Bruce Lee v Wong Jack Man: Dawn of Jeet Kune Do is just the backdrop for a film described as:

…a San Francisco-set coming-of-age story involving a rough and tumble young white man who matches the feuding fighting legends in the brawl as he pursues a Romeo and Juliet romance with a young Chinese immigrant [JingJing Qu] under the control of the Chinese mob.
Because no one wants to go see a movie in which Bruce Lee battles a legendary martial artist, we have to be stuck with another white savior story? This whole thing reminds me of the lead up to another film featuring a legendary battle between kung fu icons. In 2008, Lionsgate released Forbidden Kingdom, which featured the first time Jet Li and Jackie Chan were in the same movie. And just like Birth of the Dragon, the filmmakers just had to put a white dude in as the audience’s surrogate.’

The fact that the film industry is pretending that Bruce Lee, a LEGENDARY AND WORLD RENOWNED MARTIAL ARTIST can’t compel audiences to get to the theatre so they can throw some white boy in the mix is beyond comprehension. POC HAVE ALREADY PROVEN WE KICK ASS AND DESTROY BOX OFFICES. You folks with power just want to white wash everything and it’s ok to admit it cause we already know. There’s no other excuse for the repeated casting and centering of white faces in ethnic roles and stories. I hope the Crow haunts this fucking set
