Cherry Blossoms & Tulips
A small babbling creek named “Egawa River Babbling Green Road” (江川せせらぎ緑道) is a small community project that was born in 1985 with a crew of 50 volunteers and extra help from local elementary school children. Over the years, the volunteers and children have planted more than 200 cherry trees and continue to maintain the nearly 15,000 tulips.
Egawa River (Tsuzuki Ward, Yokohama, Japan) runs through an area that has drastically changed from rice paddies and fields to a zone of heavy industry. The river and its beautiful trees and flowers stand in dark contrast with metal recycling yards, factories, warehouses, and distribution centers.
With no designated parking nearby, and somewhat cumbersome access via public transportation, I was pleased to find such a pleasant oasis of greenery, and signs of nature’s spring rebirth.

Cheery Blossom Season!
It’s baaaack! Well, sort of.
A couple of versions of the chronological feed returned on Wednesday. ⏳
According to Insider, it’s the first time in six years we’ve been given the option to see our feeds in chronological order . I don’t know about you guys, but I’ve been really looking forward to choosing what I see instead of having it determined by IG’s algorithms .
To see a chronological feed on your Instagram account:
1. Open the app and tap on the Instagram logo
2. You’ll see a drop-menu. Tap on “Following.”
3. You’ll see posts from your feed in chronological order
4. “Favorites” shows chronological posts from selected accounts. Tap it.
5. You’ll be invited to add accounts to your “Favorites” list
6. You’ll be asked to confirm your favorites.
I took a few simplified screenshots. Swipe right in my carousel to see what I’m talking about here. (They follow my University of Washington cherry blossom photos. )
Right now, the chronological feed option isn’t available on the web️. It’s only available on iOS and Android apps.
I have a business account and strangely couldn’t access this feature! I had to take the screen shots from my cat’s account! I’m not sure if it’s a glitch, ♀️ but I’ve seen the feature referenced as being available to all users. If & when it’s available I will go through my “close friends” list and add them to “Favorites.”
Are you looking forward to trying it? If you miss the “old Instagram,” this could be great!
