The days remained rainy in the weeks after meeting him.

You focused on work in the diner, doubling the attention you gave to your customers, helping in the kitchen - where you didn’t really have to be at all - and you mostly managed, but time and time again you caught your thoughts flashing back to those distraught, blue eyes that haunted your dreams and every waking moment.

You even earned a bonus for working that much.

Marla, noticed you spacing out one evening. Dinner rush had long dwindled and you two could chat for a bit, as you normally used to, the only problem being that you hardly initiated conversation anymore.

“Hey, you ok?” came her soft voice and warm touch on your shoulder.

You sighed deeply before you answered, “Yes, just fine. You need anything?”

Looking deep into your eyes she pursed her lips.

“I’m worried about you kid. I’ve been watching you working like crazy and everything is apparently going swell, but, somehow, it feels like you’re miles away and not at a resort in Aruba. Spill.”

She crossed her arms as if to tell you you wouldn’t escape this one. You lightly chuckled.

“Remember the day you missed work?” Marla nodded. “Well, that morning someone was here.”

You pause and remember as you debate telling her about his physical attributes. You decide against it and sigh once more.

“Well? Did the person treat you bad? Good? Was it a man or a woman?”

You smiled at Marla’s impatience and continued.

“He treated me… ok, I guess.” Marla frowned and opened her mouth but, before she could say anything you hurried to reassure her. “He didn’t treat me badly. He just wanted to be left alone.”

“And why didn’t you leave him alone?” she asked, cocking an eyebrow.

“Because when I poured the coffee for him, I saw the look in his eyes and it was clear that he’d been crying, you know. I couldn’t help it. I had to try and make it better.”

“And did you?” she insisted.

“I don’t think so.” you mumble, as you think about the cake barely eaten and the untouched coffee. “He took my hankie with him.”

“The one your mother embroidered?” her question was amplified by the long gasp.

“Yes.“

The fact you couldn’t help the stranger coupled with losing one of the things you valued the most ate away at you, making you feel like you had failed everyone.

She touched your shoulder and pulled you in for a hug. Patting the back of your head lightly, she said it was going to be okay, though you were not so sure yourself.

As you left the diner that night, all your thoughts were focused on your conversation with the handsome stranger. Clark.

No news of any murder involving him had surfaced, so you were even more baffled as to what he could have meant by saying he had killed his wife.

He had left such an impression on you that you had dreamed about him more than once. Those nights were not the most pleasant; you’d wake up with a start, feeling a presence in your room, but upon turning the lights on, it was empty, just as you had left it before going to bed.

That same week you learned that your favorite customer unfortunately had passed, making things a little sadder. Her funeral was attended by a host of people, not only those who had worked with her, but who admired her work and wished to pay their respects.

The hot topic, however, was the absence of her husband, the not so famous, but equally well known, Clark Kent.

The buzz reached you from several sources and all of them told you a reason why he wasn’t there. Most of them, not so respectful. Even the newspaper they worked for, the Daily Planet, mentioned the fact.

Your customers talked about it, brought clippings to show you; it was on the radio, even on the tv news broadcasts. "Metropolis in Mourning” read one of the headlines, not really mourning but gossiping about the attendees at the funeral.

Your reaction was to always smile and let them gossip. You had never met the man, Lois was the one to come buy coffee almost every day. She was kind and always stayed for a while to talk to you. She bothered to ask you questions, as if you were an important person she just had to interview. She never failed to make you smile. A kind person through and through. But those were details you preferred to keep to yourself.

The walk back home wasn’t long, just a few blocks, but lost in your thoughts, you missed the fact that you were being followed.

The hand landed heavily on your shoulder and turning you didn’t know if you were more startled by the fact that someone got that close to you without you noticing, or the fact that the person whose hand had felt like a bag of potatoes on your muscles was such a small and frail-looking old lady.

“I’m sorry if I startled you.” she apologized in a feeble voice, that again, had such jarring contrast to the touch. “I called out, but you were on another planet!”

She laughed then, showing her blackened teeth, and you smiled awkwardly, not really knowing what she wanted.

She was repugnant. It wasn’t a mean observation, it was a fact. Her world-weary face was mostly wrinkles and you could tell life hadn’t been kind to her so far. She reminded you of fairy tale witches with the hooked noses and cunning eyes. The unease only increased as you took in the state of her clothes. She wore what looked like a voluminous tunic, of thick and frayed fabric. It stunk, but nothing like the city stench you were used to. It was something akin to the smell in the crypt where your mother’s remains were buried.

You shuddered and shook your head slightly to dispel the disturbing thoughts. The woman, thankfully concentrated on the movement of the cars on the street, didn’t witness your discomfort.

“Would you be a dear and help me with these?” she half requested, half complained, looking down at two very heavy looking shopping bags full of groceries, that you could swear she hadn’t been carrying when you first looked at her.

“Sure.” you replied, noticing your labored breathing as you picked the bags from her hands.

They were indeed very heavy. You wondered if she bought bricks and put them in the bottom, just for the exercise.

“Do you live far?” you asked her, as the light turned green, but she just started crossing the street without a single glance back at you.

She walked briskly, and the extra weight had you struggling to keep up.

“No, just three blocks that way.” her hand pointed to nowhere in particular ahead of you both.

“Okay.” was all you could add.

You didn’t know how you got yourself into this, but now that you were in, all that was left was to see it through. Even if you had to see the worst side of town along with it.

It wasn’t easy catching up with her, she seemed to be always a few steps ahead of you. But when you were about to give up, she stopped in front of a derelict house that looked abandoned.

She opened the door and asked you to put the groceries on the frail looking table in the middle of the living room, walking off further into the house.

You did as she asked, relieved not to be carrying them anymore, and looked back at the corridor where she had disappeared to, jumping when you saw her already next to you. It was as if she had the ability to simply materialize wherever she wanted.

“Forgive me, I didn’t want to startle you. Again.” she mumbled with a chuckle. “I have something for you. It is not money, for I do not carry such mundane things. I do believe you’ll find it useful. Eventually.”

From her pocket she pulled a leather cord, tied around a vivid, red crystal.

“You don’t have to repay me. It’s alright.” you said, taking a step back.

She merely grabbed your wrist and thrust the necklace into the palm of your hand. It was warm, and when your two hands connected around it, a blinding light emanated from it, blinking out almost immediately.

You felt heavy and sleepy, and the last thing you saw was her gruesome smile and the shears in her other hand.

Ever since Diana left, Clark had been alone with his thoughts in the silent, and aptly named, Fortress of Solitude. She had stayed for four days. They didn’t talk much, they didn’t eat or drink.

“Why did you bring me here? I told you to take me to Barda’s!” he didn’t mean to yell, but that direction wouldn’t take him where he wanted to go. He needed to blow off some steam, all of the steam, inside his head.
“Kal-El, I know you are grieving, but that does not give you the right to slaughter an entire planet…”
“I don’t…” he interjected, impatient.
“Do not interrupt me. It’s quite rude.” she said, calmly.
He hung his head, grinding his teeth. She was right, he knew it. But he was not in the mood to give her the satisfaction.
“You know yourself.” she continued. “Right now, all that pain and anger at nothing and no one in particular will unleash the full force of your power on whatever enemy you have in front of you. And then what? How will you feel when you stop seeing red and all that’s left is the utter loneliness, the memory of what Lois would have thought of that, and the blood of a planet on your hands?”

The stillness in her voice had disturbed him. He hated her for it, for being right.

He actually hated himself. All the more for thinking ill of a friend. Another friend who put it all on hold to help him.

In Metropolis, Bruce would be taking care of everything. He contacted Ma Kent and was dealing with the funeral arrangements. He called the Lanes. He was the friend Clark knew he could be under that tough exterior.

“Give me all you’ve got.” he asked her.
She then flew away, making him follow her, and put at least a hundred miles between them and the plane.
“If you put the slightest dent on my plane I’ll never speak to you again.” she said with a shake of her head.
“How would you know?” he scoffed. “It’s invisible.”
He had had enough of talking and charged her.
“Believe me, I’d know!” she said through gritted teeth absorbing the impact easily. “C'mon. Give me your worst.” she shouted.
“You can’t handle my worst!” he shouted back, shooting up and hovering high above her.
“We’ll see.” she exclaimed and attacked.

The blows coming from her fists hurt.

He couldn’t complain, as her stubbornness and willingness to beat him into venting his frustration had truly helped.

She had offered to take him back, as the funeral had been scheduled for the next day. He refused.

Now, a week after she left, after getting tired of Kelex’s updates on the state of the world outside, and not really knowing what to do with himself anymore, he decided to go back to the only thing that made sense.

Metropolis. Catching bad guys, frustrating their plans. Helping humanity in any way he could. Anything to fill the void that she left. Maybe making Bruce really mad by hunting down and putting an end to the Injustice League single handedly, or finally catching Joker… He couldn’t decide.

Indecision and life after Lois were frightening, even for the man of steel, and without her beside him to face humanity, he didn’t know what was left to ground him.

Despite that, he found a calming monotony in rounding up bad guys and had been quite effective in the short time after coming back.

He didn’t go back to work, telling Perry he needed more time, but he could now think about her and remember without all that anger taking over his every thought. He was able to feel the pain, really feel it, feel her absence, but not be consumed by it.

Metropolis had become a much safer city and he was tempted to tell Bruce he could do the same for Gotham. Slightly.

He checked on her a few times, thinking he should go back and return the handkerchief he absentmindedly took and perhaps try that pastry Lois loved so much.

The thought was dismissed as quickly as it came. It was still too soon for that kind of ritual. Her memory was still fresh in his head.

The kind woman went on with her life, and the few times he had observed her, he noticed that she went out of her way to make sure her customers were happy.

He regretted not asking her name.

He could have overheard the conversations in the diner if he wanted to, but that felt wrong somehow.

Now, flying over the area he listened for her heartbeat; it had become a habit.

She wasn’t at the diner where he had expected to hear it.

Frowning, he flew high into the clouds and concentrated.

Her heartbeat was slow, almost faint, and not in the region he knew she lived.

Speeding to the area where the faltering beating was coming from, he found her lying on the ground of a closed junk yard, still in her uniform, and a shimmering red pendant lying on her chest.

Using his x-ray vision to assess she was unharmed, he picked her up and not knowing what else to do, shot into the sky straight towards the batcave.

Summary: We find out what led Clark to meet you at the diner.

Warnings: (TW) miscarriage, death, depression, anxiety, almost all stages of grief, canon typical violence

A/N:It will get better, I promise. Bear with me. Forever grateful to @shellbilee for all the support.

Clark was devastated.

Of all the amazing things Earth had to offer, meeting Lois had certainly been the number one experience in his existence.

She had brought rhyme and reason to a world that had seemed cold and foreign outside of the family that had adopted him.

She was his world.

That fateful night, he thought his heart would explode with joy when that galloping thump, thump, thump reached his ears in the dead of night.

He had gotten up with a start, waking Lois in the process, who couldn’t understand why he was looking at her like that.

When he knelt in front of her, pressing his head to her stomach, hearing her surprised gasp, and her laugh of joy for the life they had made, he thought he was the luckiest man in the universe.

All those weeks of planning, looking up baby names together, discussing colors for the nursery and that first pair of booties they had bought. Of helping her through her morning sickness, buying her ginger ale and taking it for her in a coffee thermos at work so no one would ask questions. He had been on cloud nine.

He should have known better. It was all too good to last, after all, all of his caped friends didn’t have happy endings.

Bruce had tried and ended up betrayed and hurt, more suspicious of the world than he had been before her.

Diana had lost and never recovered. “Humans are weaker.” She would say, somber but never condescending. “They try to fight battles alongside us, but they’re not fit for the level of brutality and destruction we bring to our surroundings. Their feeble lives are over as easily as a flame is put out of a candle.”

One night, Lois woke up screaming in pain. He couldn’t care less about his secret identity as he flew her to the nearest hospital, getting there in ten seconds. Luckily, it had been the middle of the night and nobody was paying too much attention.

He was forced to wait outside as she was rushed from the emergency to the operating room, and kept from pacing by listening to the beating of her heart.

On his way to get the sixth cup of coffee, it faltered.

It took all of him not to rush to her side and wait patiently by the doors of the waiting area.

It started slowing down.

Thump, thump.

Thump, thump.

Thump, thump.

Thump, thump.

Thump.

Thump.

The long beep that followed stole his breath from his lungs and replaced it with acid.

His own hectic heart beat seemed to want to beat for hers too.

He fell to his knees, not caring about the strange looks he was getting from the nurses, other staff and other people, who like him, waited for news of their loved ones.

He could hear the voices in the O.R. calling the time of death, his hearing now more than ever, felt like a curse, stealing the few precious minutes he would have had thinking she was still alive.

He was alone again.

Now, there was nobody else on Earth who knew him through and through and loved it despite the alien attributes. Who understood him, who accepted him as he was and brought out the human in him.

A nurse came over and asked something. He didn’t try to understand. He merely got up and sat back on the chair he was occupying.

The humans there must have thought him crazy. He didn’t really care.

Just like his father had taught him, so many years ago, he concentrated. Breathing deeply, despite the pain in his chest he was trying to ignore, it helped control the exterior, and soon no one was looking at him funny anymore.

So he waited.

When the doctor came out, a while later, his expression defeated, the hem of his scrubs and his shoes were stained with blood. Clark didn’t really need or want to hear what he had to say and schooled his features into a polite anxiousness.

“… significant blood loss…”

Clark’s head spun. He didn’t want the details.

“… miscarriage is fairly normal, but…”

He only noticed there were tears on his face when the doctor’s hand rubbed his upper arm.

“Is there anyone we can call?”

He couldn’t find his voice but the woman seemed to be expecting some sort of answer, so Clark dragged his hands over his face under his glasses and shook his head.

“You’ll be able to see her soon.”

The small room was adjacent to the operating area. The smell of that place made its way into his lungs and his brain where Clark was certain that it would be forever engraved.

After uncovering the face of his dead wife the nurse left him alone.

And he felt so alone.

Alone with the shell that once housed his home, his reason why things made sense, his reason to fight for… anything.

He knelt next to the gurney and found her already cool hand under the white sheet.

He let himself crumble there.

He sobbed loudly, and tears streamed freely. He wanted to scream, but couldn’t find the strength.

All the loneliness, loss, pain, anger, and desperation took over, as her hand, tightly pressed against his face and wet because of his tears, cooled his cheek.

He suddenly found himself filled with hate. He wanted to kill someone, to let his powers loose for once, and make someone feel the full force of his pain.

He racked his brains for someone to hate and repeatedly came up empty, when abruptly, his sobs halted and he inhaled sharply.

He realized he was the one to blame.

The realization hit him like nothing else ever had. No enemy faced so far hurt him as much as he did himself.

He let go of her hand, feeling unworthy.

Getting up and sniffling he looked at her pallid face. His tears didn’t stop as he put her hand back under the sheet.

Caressing her hair, the only thing that remained vivid, he sniffled again.

“Forgive me, Lois. I didn’t know. I was a fool to believe it was possible. And now, we’re here.”

He used his other hand to wipe his continuous tears off of his eyes and cheeks and, with a final glance at his beloved wife, covered her head.

He did his best to put on a somewhat presentable face as he left the hospital.

He didn’t want to talk to anyone.

He didn’t want to see anyone.

He didn’t want to hear anything.

But, alas, he was still the man of steel and people were still in need of assistance in the world.

He didn’t really know where his feet were leading him, but on the way there he stopped five muggings, two attempted break-ins, a bank heist and one attempted rape.

Just another night in Metropolis.

It didn’t really matter that he was not dressed like Superman, some people were grateful all the same, and the bad guys were still breathing, which, he believed and was quite surprised to notice, spoke volumes about his character and self-control. Puny humans wouldn’t withstand the type of beating he was in the mood to give anyway.

Thunder rumbled and cracked and as soon as the noise stopped the rain came down hard, drenching him in mere minutes.

Taking the useless glasses off and pocketing them, he contemplated leaving Metropolis, going to the Fortress of Solitude and making as much noise and causing as much destruction as he wanted.

Or, even better than that, would be to pay a short visit to Barda and ask her to open a tube for him.

Spending the rest of his pathetic existence in Apokolips would be a much better use for his energy, and it would guarantee that Darkseid and friends would never set foot on Earth again.

Effective and useful, more than he felt at that moment.

Anything would be better than the way he felt at that moment.

A peculiar noise got him out of his head. He thought he was going mad.

“Lois?” His voice thick with disuse, and waking up from deep within him called out to the source of the rhythmic, slow beating coming from somewhere nearby.

It was so clear, so strongandalive, that he must have been hallucinating.

He took flight and followed the sound for three blocks, until he landed in front of a restaurant of some kind.

The smell of freshly brewed coffee was quite strong in the air.

It was deserted except for a woman with her back to him. She looked nothing like Lois, but the heartbeat was hers, its pattern identical to that of his wife. Despite the dismay he couldn’t help feeling, he decided to go in and, upon opening the door regretted it immediately.

The only pastry Lois would indulge in was made here. The smell, faint as it was, assaulted his nostrils at once and a new wave of sadness took over him.

She had always bought it herself with two coffees to go, on her way to work. Not one for sweets, he’d never bothered to try it.

Just before they went to bed the night before, she had asked him to buy it for her to celebrate the fact that morning sickness was no longer so bad. He promised he would, and that she would have it fresh from the oven for breakfast.

There wouldn’t be any more breakfasts with her.

He suddenly felt tired. A foreign feeling for him, but he found himself exhausted.

The second booth was far enough into the place. He sat on the faux leather and took his glasses from his jean pocket. He tried to wipe them on his tee shirt but in the almost liquid state of his clothes, nothing would be achieved there.

The woman whose heartbeat was so similar to Lois’s, set a cup on a saucer and a spoon next to it in front of him.

He lifted his head then, only to be met by her piercing gaze.

He was sure she could read him like a book, and was surprised she didn’t scream “Superman”.

Her expression turned from that first surprise to deep sympathy. And that’s something he did not want or need.

“Just coffee’s fine.” He said and lowered his head, putting his glasses away and trying his best to ignore the frantic beating of her heart.

Summary: You work at a diner and an unconventional customer comes in.

Warnings: mentions of death; sadness; crying; angst

Word count:1763

A/N: Clark inspired me so much to cry as I wrote this, so expect pain, sadness, and a whole lot of suffering for now. Future parts are heading to a brighter place though.

Thanks again to the amazing @shellbilee for putting up with me and helping me fine tune some stuff.

I hope you guys enjoy it.

*#*#*#*#*#*#*#*#*#*#*#*#*#*#*#

It was pouring the day you first met him.

You had the uneventful night shift, and in forty two minutes, would be free to go home and rest your sore muscles.

He entered the diner and sat at the second booth, with his back to the door.

The sound of the excess water on his clothes dripping on the linoleum floor was the only other sound after the bell stopped tinkling, telling you a customer had come in.

Being a 50s-themed diner, the only music allowed was rockabilly or ballads of the time, and there was only so much you could hear until hating Elvis and friends.

You grabbed a cup and the coffee pot, checked you had your pad and pen on you, and made your way to him.

He didn’t look up from trying to wipe his glasses dry on his drenched white tee until you set the cup in front of him, and when he did, you were faced with the deepest, most beautiful, and saddest, red-rimmed, blue eyes you’d ever seen.

He looked at your face for a moment but said nothing, then lowered his head and gave up the futile task.

“Just coffee’s fine.” Came his muffled baritone.

You stood there for another moment, thinking about what you could say.

You felt like you had to comfort him, to somehow ease the overwhelming pain you could see etched in those sculpted features.

The sound of the telephone decided for you, and in silence, you quickly poured the coffee for the handsome, grief-stricken stranger, and made your way back behind the counter.

Your boss was on the phone, telling you that Marla, your co-worker, was sick with the flu and wouldn’t be working that day. She asked if you could hold the fort for another three hours, until she could take her kids to school.

You were tired, but the pay was more than welcome.

So, with pleasant words you put her at ease for making you work overtime and ended the call.

A silent atmosphere was all that was left, and if it were only up to you and the sad fellow it would probably have been okay. However, policy was that there should be music at all times, you had only turned it off because you were alone.

You made your way to the front of the store, still behind the counter, and turned the stereo on, picking up a rag to wipe the already pristine walnut and bronze countertop.

“Uh… can you turn that off?” Came his voice, as if from the depths of a pit.

“Oh, I’m sorry.” You said, hurrying to shut Buddy Holly up.

Turning back to your only customer, you saw that he hadn’t taken a single sip from his coffee.

You gulped, feeling the silence stretch. You didn’t know what to do with your hands and wiping shiny surfaces wouldn’t do.

As the minutes ticked by you started feeling quite awkward. Normally your customers would talk your ears off, something you had to get used to. It was second nature to you now to make small talk and listen to whatever they had to say.

So, you decided to do what you were not supposed to. You summoned all the courage in your being, took a slice of chocolate cake, and repeating “You can do this!” to yourself all the way there, you sat in front of the stranger.

He didn’t react to you at first, so you slid the plate towards him.

“I didn’t order this.” He said, his voice small and his head hanging low.

“I know. It’s on the house. Maybe it’ll do for you what it does for me when I’m sad.” You said looking at his hair, as he didn’t deem you worthy of his attention.

“I seriously doubt it.” He lifted his head then, a tear about to drip from his nose.

Your heart was squeezed by an invisible hand as those blue eyes, glistening with unshed tears, pierced yours.

Undeterred by the hostility you could also see there, you insisted in a whisper.

“You never know.”

He seemed baffled as he stared at you. A few seconds of deliberation later, he dragged his hands down his face in defeat and finally took the fork next to the plate and cut a piece of the slice, only to hold it halfway between the table and his mouth.

“I eat this, you leave me be?” He asked, lifting his brows slightly.

“That depends.” You said with a shy smile.

“What? Depends on what?” He said, impatiently.

“If I see it made you feel better. I’m supposed to look after my customers.”

“You would make this customer happy if you left him alone.” He said almost interrupting you.

“Mister, you may never come back. But I can’t have you this miserable on my watch. My boss would be immensely disappointed.” You said, your face dejected but your voice determined.

He looked at you, as if seeing you for the first time. A bit of the exasperation left his features as he realized you wouldn’t back down, or maybe he felt that he didn’t have the energy to argue anymore.

“Fine.” He conceded at last, taking the fork to his mouth.

You smiled and gave him a handkerchief you had in your pocket.

“Here. These napkins will hurt you more than wipe anything.”

“Thank you.” He paused looking at the slice of cake and then at you. “I’m sorry, it must be the end of your shift and you have to deal with a grump.” He tried to smile, but what you saw was a grimace at best.

“I’ll have to stay a while longer, and the rain has scared my customers away, probably enjoying the extra few minutes in bed instead of coming here, or going straight to work to escape the deluge.” You shrugged. “So, I’m all ears mister.”

“Clark.”

“Clark. Okay. So why are you drenched?”

“It is raining.” He deadpanned, a humourless smile tugging at his lips.

“Wow! There’s hope for you still!” You snorted.

“Hope.” He paused, shaking his head, as if to dispel a bad thought. “It was always so important to me. My purpose in life was to bring hope to people. I guess I took it for granted.” He sighed and sniffled. “I thought I’d always be able to protect her, to shield her from every and any harm. I never thought I could hurt her.” He cleared his throat and hid his face in your handkerchief. He suddenly dropped the fork and it hit the plate with a clank.

You were startled by the noise and found yourself at a loss for words. True grief never visited the diner and was never a topic of discussion among your customers. Things that matter were always skirted in lieu of more cheerful topics. Any nonsense was accepted as long as it brought comfort, joy and distraction from the everyday misery.

You reached across the table and squeezed his clenched fist gently.

“Why can’t you protect her anymore?” You asked, not daring to raise your voice above a whisper.

“Because she’s dead!” He said looking back up from the piece of cloth. His whisper might as well have been a shout, such was the look on his face and the weight of his words. “She’s dead, and there was nothing I could have done to save her!” His voice lowered as he spoke until it almost disappeared at the end.

You thought he should yell, but his grief was a silencing one.

You held back your own tears and swallowed the lump in your throat as you watched fresh tears well up in his eyes.

Outside, the rain somehow got heavier and thunder cracked, seemingly grieving with him.

After a few minutes listening to the rain break the utter silence in the diner, you dared ask the question that had been burning in your head.

“How did you hurt her?”

There was silence for a while. When he finally looked at you, the self-loathing in his eyes sent you reeling.

“I married her.” He paused and took a deep breath, a scowl marring his handsome face. “I exposed her to dangers she wouldn’t have come close if not for me. I killed her!”

Faster than you thought possible he let go of the handkerchief and buried both of his hands in his hair, fistfuls of it being pulled and released frantically, before the cloth he had been holding could touch the tabletop.

His confession shocked you the most, though, You couldn’t reconcile the man in front of you with a  murderer. Maybe he didn’t mean to kill her; maybe it was all an accident.

Before your mind could escape you, the bell tinkled again alerting you to a tall man coming in. You got up, quickly moving towards him, thinking about Clark and not wishing any other confessions to be overheard.

You noticed that the rain had slowed to a drizzle behind the newcomer. “Good morning, sir. Welcome. Why don’t you sit…?”

“I’m here for him, thank you.” The man interrupted you with a dismissive shake of his hand, and shook off the droplets off of his coat by the door sill.

You watched quietly by the door, as the stranger walked purposefully towards an oblivious Clark, and grabbed his shoulder quite harshly.

Clark looked up, surprise coloring his features momentarily, only to be replaced with intense sorrow.

“Bruce? Oh, Bruce, she’s dead!” He said, desolation coloring his features, as he got up and hugged the other man as if his life depended on it.

“I know, I know. Let’s go Clark. I’ll take care of everything. Diana’s waiting.” The man said, hugging Clark just as fiercely.

“What? Why is Diana here?” Clark asked, confusion clear in the furrow of his brows.

“I’ll tell you in the car.” Replied the stranger, side eyeing you briefly.

Clark nodded and let himself be led away from there, not sparing you a goodbye glance.

You stood by the door, watching as the man named Bruce led Clark to a sleek, black car, parked out front.

Clark fell onto the passenger seat and the stranger closed the door.

Before getting in, Bruce looked at you and nodded. You nodded back, but he was already inside the car, driving away at a probably illegal speed.

You walked back in to clean the table Clark had just vacated, only to realize he had taken your handkerchief with him and to find a hundred dollar bill by the cup.

“Agh!” You screamed from down the hall, with your head in our hands. You paced back and forth, eyes glowing a dark menacing red, almost like blood.

“Who does he think he is?!” You seethed out loud through your teeth to no one. “I am not his puppet! He can’t control me!”

Your breathing was hard and it took you every ounce of strength to not collapse the building you’re in with a single flick of your wrist. He knows you can’t be or act like him…. it’s just not in your code, you’re much different than him.

“He always has to butt in! How am I supposed to be confident with my actions when he still doesn’t trust me?” You still asked to no one but rather more yourself. “It’s not fair…..”

“What’s not fair?” His deep familiar voice said from behind you.

Not bothering to turn around you answer: “You…. who you are. It’s not fair”

His features soften a bit. “Jane.” He starts but you quickly shoot back a glare at him.

He holds a hand up, “Right. (Y/n). Sorry.”

You then roll your eyes and start walking away. “I quit.”

“Just like that? You’re just going to quit?” He catches up to you. “What happen to proving them wrong huh? Your father believed in you.”

“Don’t!” You turn around quickly and point a finger at him with gritted teeth. “You shut your mouth. You of all people shouldn’t be saying that about father figures.”

When you turned back around he caught your arm and pulled you close. “I’m sorry…. I shouldn’t have said that. Stay…. please.” He said softly and you look up to see his gentle smile.

You sighed heavily and dropped your head back with your eyes closed. “I can’t be like you…” you said lowly, not sure to him or you but he heard your voice clearly.

“I’m not asking you to. I want you to be yourself.” He says sincerely, looking at your features for any sign of something.

With a small hint of a smirk you asked; “Are you sure about that?” Reminding him of the last time he said that you got a little too out of control and practically tried to rip his head off.

He smiled at the memory because oddly enough, that’s when he really started to fall in love with you. The fire you had, the drive and the strength; it matched him perfectly where he actually had to put up a fight.
Fast and strong will driven, all that attracted him to you even more. There was a spark in your eyes when you fought and he wanted to see more of it.

You didn’t start out as a good guy either but more of a ametuar villian just coming out and when he first met you, there was something about you that he couldn’t exactly figure out but he liked it.

He would try to avoid physical fights but more try to persuade you into changing sides. Of course you would get frustrated with him as it felt like he wasn’t taking you serious so you would try harder with every encounter you had with him.

At first they started out as minor things like stealing a bike or something electronic from a cheap store but as time pass you got bolder with your powers and that’s when the serious crimes started.

Robbing banks and destroying buildings. At that point he had no choice but to take you serious because you were deliberately trying to hurt people and you were now being seen as the villain you wanted to be.

People feared you and gangs were too scared to cross you so you had control of the streets. But then something happen, your father got sick and ended up in the hospital. He was sick before but it got worse to the point of being in the ICU and he didn’t know about your double life of a War Lord of the streets.
Every night when you got home and would check on him in his room he always warned you to be careful out there as there was someone causing chaos in the streets. Innocently, you would reassure him hiding this secret for the soul fact that robbing these banks and controlling contraband was to pay for his bills and he would get the best doctors.

Even with all the money you had and the medical help you can provide there was no saving him. You didn’t want to accept the fact that there was no way to save him.

Days past since his funeral and you were still in denial, you destroyed everything you created and built, and went on a rampage of rage. You cursed at the sky and buildings shook while people screamed and ran for they’re lives.

Your hands glowed a angry red and you shot out randomly not caring what they hit, tears streaked down your dirty cheeks and cars were being blown up.

Superman floated above, watching you, he felt your pain and he knew what was wrong. Silently he descended down and gently put a hand on your shoulder, you reacted but not in the way he thought you would. Instead of turning around and lashing at him you just lowered your hands, the red dimming and slumped to the floor. Your sobs grew softer and dust started to clear up.

“I’m sorry….” He simply said, and stood next to you.

You stayed silent, numbingly staring at a piece of rubble from a fallen building that you blew up.
“I could have done more” you said ever so above a whisper.

Those words sunk into him, he felt the same about his own father.

“We’re not invincible,” he replies.

“Are you kidding?” You turn your head to look up back at him and then you got up. “You’re Superman. You’re seen as some God. Nothing can kill you.”

He looked away, not sure what to say.

“That’s what I thought.” You almost spit out of jealous. When you walked away he called to you, you hesitated but stopped.

“What?” You yell back.

“What happen to you isn’t fair and I know why you did what you did. I’m sorry that had to happen to you but please– you’re not alone.”

“What do you mean?” You then turn around.

“This power that you have, it’s incredible and you can be good. Show these people that anyone could have a bad day and still be the best. Show them that its possible to keep climbing to the top– even when the hill turns into a mountain.”

“You want me to be a hero like you?”

“Be your own hero.”

“My hero died.” You said coldly and turned around.

He didn’t respond after that but let you go, you needed to grieve but he waited.

Two Years later here you were in the hallway with him, bickering like an old couple.

“Please don’t give up.”

Another moment passed and you sighed, “Okay!….okay. I won’t but please lay off. I’m trying my best.” He smiled and nodded; “Deal.”

He gave a warm smile, that same smile that always calms you down. The man in front of you as been by your side non stop since that day, the day you thought you were done. But he gave you hope, save for the ‘S’ symbol on his chest.
You needed a friend and someone for support and he was there in a heart beat. That’s what you loved about him the most, and you also loved him too but you will never tell him that. How can you? You got blood on your hands and he’s….. too pure. All he’s tried to do is good in his life, you can never match up to him.

“Let’s head back.” He says comfortingly and you nod, following him.

-

“He dresses like a bat?” You practically laugh out as you watch the news.

Clark walked up around you and sipped his coffee as he watched the tv. “He’s doing no good in this city with his vigilante actions. It’s just adding fuel to the fire.”

You turn your head with raised brows, “And what are you doing exactly on your spare time huh mister super man?” You said teasingly, and nudged him with your elbow.

He shakes his head with a small smirk on his lips, “I don’t kill anyone unlike some people.” He takes another sip of his coffee.

“Hey!” You push him hard but of course he barely moves. “Take it back!”

“I will when you do!” He chuckles taking a few steps away from you.
“Na-uh Kent! You take it back! That was low and you know it.” You start to follow him.

“Was it?” He gives that cheeky smile that showed his teeth, furthering himself from you, knowing exactly where this was going.

“Oh, honey. It was was low enough to be buried six feet under.” You purse your lips, swaying your hips side to side as you made your way slowly to him. a mischievous grin plastered on your face.

“Yeah?” he winks at you. Rounding in front of the couch, he sets his cup of coffee down, not wanting to risk spilling it although that should be the least of his problems right now as you were ready to pounce on him.

“Yeah.” You reply, nearing him now; your tongue sticking out just a little since you were now concentrating on his next move. He watched, just for a millisecond how your lips looked so good he almost wanted to just let you tackle him just so he can sneak a kiss.

But he missed you just by inches, after all, you were able to catch up with him.

You two ran around like a bunch of kids playing tag, running a couple of circles around some furniture. Until finally you had enough and jumped over the couch, knocking him down with you.

“Got you!” You laugh pinning his arms above his head while you straddled his hips. He chuckles, “Not exactly.” and in one swift motion you were now the one under him with your arms above your head.

“Nice try sweet heart but I’m Superman.” He winks down at you.

“More like pooperman!” You say with a smile.

He squints his eyes but can’t help the smile that crept to his lips.

“Well? You win, so now what?” You ask leaning your head a little to the side.

He looked into your eyes silently, taking in every detail of them; the patterns in your irises, every line, every tiny color the light above enticed. The way your pupils expanded as he grew closer. The faint pulse rising from your neck, the small specks of freckles scattered across your cheeks from sunlight. The tiny scar above your brow all the way down to your waiting lips.

“Clark?” you said ever so above a whisper which pulled him back from his thoughts.

Mindlessly ke lowered himself and pressed his lips to yours, a tiny squeal of surprise rose in your throat but you relaxed into it and closed your eyes.

Warm and so soft, exactly how he thought your lips would feel. His hands went from your arms to cup your cheeks, deepening the kiss and you brought your hands to his sides, pulling him closer to you.

He buried his fingers in you hair, his tongue skimming your bottom lip, begging for entrance, happily you let him in. Wanting more of him you wrapped your legs around his waist, he pushed his pelvis into you, the friction not enough.

You were the first to pull away, “Wait. We can’t do this.” Your breathed in, opening your eyes.

He looked into them, those ocean blues making you weak. “Is something wrong?” he says softly but with concern.

“No just–.” you sighed, dropping your head to the floor, Clark quickly putting his hand beneath but you ignored it. “we can’t do this. We’re partners, not lovers. You’re Superman!” you say louder turning your head to the side.

He furrowed his brows down at you, “What does that supposed to mean?” He lifted himself, resting on his knees.

You propped yourself on your elbows, “I mean, there’s no way this” you point between the both of you, “will never work.”

“What?” He gets up placing his hands on his hips.

“Oh c’mon on Clark! Don’t act surprised.” You scoff getting up on your feet.

“Why do you think that?”

“Uh–hello?” You wave your hands around, “Ex-bad guy remember?”

He shook his head, “I thought you put that behind?” He raises his voice.

“I did! But you know what?” You scoff again walking to the kitchen. You placed your hands on the edge of the countertop, hanging your head low.

Silence fell into the atmosphere, it settled like a thick blanket, uneasy and tight.

“Apparently some people can’t seem to do the same.” You scoff once again and looked back at him.

He kept his eyes trained on the floor.

“I knew it. I fucking knew it. You haven’t changed one bit. I’m such an idiot.” you laugh to yourself, feeling the tears prick out.

“Just say it Kent.” Your voice clip. “I’m still the bad guy right? Keeping me close under your radar just so I won’t cause chaos? Real good plan. Gotta say, you fooled me.” You almost chuckled, giving your head a pat on the head with one of your hands.
“I almost fell for it. Thinking I can turn my life around, be the good guy, not perfect but good. You know? Boy was I a fool!” You then gripped the counter and tore a corner off and dropped it on the wood floor.

“(Y/n)–” He barely took a step towards you but you turn swinging your hand around, a red light illuminating the room and sending Clark, furniture and anything possible back.
“Don’t!” You yelled.

He landed on the other side of the living room, but before he could get up you were out the front door with your things in hand.

Since magic was a weakness for him and your forte it was easy to block him out, for days, months.

You didn’t see him and he couldn’t see you, hear you or even sense your heartbeat. You were good at that. All the other times you two fought you would do this but not for this long.

He was worried, he felt like an idiot for not speaking up. Telling you the truth. He just stood there like a moron watching you hurt instead of bringing you in his arms. And things with the city of Metropolis isn’t going too well either. Of course people noticed your place of absence when ever Superman was seen.

No one trusted him, some people say he’s a hero while others say he’s a false god. The council surely didn’t want him around, he was stuck on what to do.

Is this how you felt when you were trying to do good? He could only imagine what went on in your head during those times; the embarrassment, humiliation, guilt, shame.

He didn’t think about that or even ask how you felt.

He closed his eyes and sighed, shaking his head. “Fucking idiot…” he said to himself.

“You okay?” He heard the mask bat say from behind.

“Yeah…” he answered half assed.

“We can’t stop it. We need a plan,” Diana landed just a few feet from them.

Lex let loose a monster, he called it Doomsday, made from the mutation of his blood and General Zodd’s corpse.

“It’s a long shot but, I know someone that can help. Someone powerful.” He spoke up. Batman turn to him, “The girl? Is that a good idea.”

“It’s the best idea I got.” Superman shrugged his shoulders a little.

“Go get her. We’ll keep it busy till then. Hurry.” Diana said sternly jumping back into the battlefield, Batman close behind.

You put two scoops of sugar into your the light brown liquid and gave it a few rounds of stirring then you clinked the spoon against the cup edge and took a sip of the warm coffee.

After a satisfied sigh you put the cup down and breathed in deeply.

“Hey Clark.” you said turning around to see the cape crusade in that all too familiar blue, skin tight outfit of his. He stood patiently on your balcony, eyes on nothing but you. They looked…. pained.

“(Y/n),” he said softly.

The sound of his voice made you almost cry, you’ve missed him so much.

“I know why you’re here.” You point to the tv showing the fight between the monster Doomsday and Batman with a mysterious woman.

“Will you help?”

“Of course. But I have to know…” you walked over to your open balcony.

He watched as you neared him, hesitant to take your hand but entwined your fingers in his while your other hand rested on his shoulder.

“Did you ever have faith in me? Did you think I could really do good?”

He nodded in silence. “I never doubted you.”

You nodded this time, tracing the ‘S’ symbol on his chest.

“I love you.” He said and you looked up at him.

Again, he took the opportunity to look into your eyes, those same patterns were still there, you even got a little more light freckles and he smiled to himself.

You kissed him, softly, the same passion from both ends like the first time.

“I love you too.” you say back.

He laughs shakily, “I promise, with all my heart. I will be better.”

“Don’t get sappy on me dork,” you lightly hit his chest.

“You’re have to get used to it.” He replied kissing you on the cheek.

You both laughed and then it fell silent.

“It’s not easy huh?” You spoke. “Being seen as the bad guy all the time?”

He shook his head.

“Well,” you shrug. “Let’s bag ourselves a monster.”

Tears stained your dirt covered cheeks, this thing was stronger than you thought. The only way to kill it was with the kryptonite spear Batman had made, you managed to distract the thing long enough for Clark to pierce its chest with it.

A smile formed on your cheek but it quickly faltered when you saw the stump on it’s arm grow out a long thick horn. It was going to stab him through the chest.

“No!” You yell jumping in front of it and took the blow.

“(Y/n)!” You heard Clark cry out before he took the advantage of digging the spear deeper Doomsday’s chest. A bright green light shined from it’s mouth and eyes sockets before it collapsed onto the ground throwing both you and Clark opposite directions.

Clark ran to you as fast as he could only to see you were already gone, blood coming out the corner of your mouth. He pulled you into his arms, tears falling on your cheek.

“No…..no…” he said lowly, wiping the hair away from your face. “(Y/n) please, wake up…”

He cupped your cheek, shaking your face lightly.

A hand gripped his shoulder softly, he turned halfway to see Diana and Batman standing silently behind. “I got her.” She said.

Hesitantly he nodded and Diana came around to pick your body up and carried it away from him.

The funeral was small and quick, not many people showed as you didn’t know much. Diana and Bruce showed for support of course.

He stood where you were buried, breathing in the cool morning air. “I miss you (Y/n). I wish we had more time but you had to be the hero, you always were one, people just didn’t  see it.

Your death is not in vain, I promise you. I love you and people will know who saved them. Your hero may have died but you died as one.”

He smiles at you and answers, “Sure. What do you want to do?”

You thought for a moment, where can we go?
“Um, anywhere? I guess. It doesn’t matter to me I just don’t want to be home.”

He nods in understanding and turns to grab his bicycle. “Well hop on.” He then straddles his seat. You look at him, dumbfounded. “Wait, what?” You were caught off guard of by that.

He gestures to the handles of his bike with a nod. “Get on. I promise you won’t fall.”

You stood there with a raised brow while eyeing the bike in uncertainy, not sure if he was serious.
“Are you for real? Is that legal?” You ask.

He shrugs his shoulders. “I don’t know but I’m willing to find out.”

Unsure but excited you take a look around at the people before walking over to Clark’s bike and climbing onto the handles. He holds out his hand and you take it for support.
“There you go.” He says; “Put your feet on the pegs.”

You do as he says then he grabs hold of your waist and leans you back against his chest. You were flushed against him, feeling his warm breath down your neck.
“I got you.” He speaks lowly. His mouth just mere centimeters from your ear. By now your cheeks were definitely a different shade and you were hoping he can’t see from where he’s at.

“Alright here we go. Hold on.” He stands on the pedals as he pushes, making sure you were leaning back on him. Feeling his warmth made your heart flutter, this was fun. You were smiling and so was he as you passed people and the wind started to pick up.

“Whoa! Clark! Hey!” You shouted, whole body tensed and trying to stay balanced.
“I got you Y/n,” he says cooly with a smile, leaning forward more so you can use his shoulder to lean back on

You couldn’t believe what you were doing; here you were on the handle bars of Clark’s bike while he sped through downtown Metropolis during rush hour and both of you didn’t seem to care. Though people of all kinds, from having baby strollers to other cyclists, jump out of the way before you two could plummet into them.

“We’re gonna crash into something,” you yelled but it started to turn into a giggle as you were enjoying yourself not feeling any danger at all, it’s like Clark himself was your safe point.

“I promise you we won’t,” he laughs back, enjoying seeing you smile and laugh. Just as he said that he didn’t notice that the street you two were headed towards had turned green and cars began to move through.
His eyes and yours went wide when you both were about to cross over the edge of the sidewalk until Clark braked hard sending you flying towards oncoming traffic.
You panicked and closed your eyes, throwing your hands forward to break what ever will hit you but nothing did. Slowly your eyes open and you were still safely on the sidewalk, then you felt a warm arm wrapped around your middle. Your head turns to see Clark holding you against him and his bike thrown back a few feet from you two.

“I got you,” he whispers still holding you to him.

“How did you do that?” You ask, trying to figure out how he had time to jump off the bike, throw it to the side and manage to catch you even though you were sent flying.

“Adrenaline, I guess.” He shrugs his shoulders, shaking off how fast he was to save you. “Are you okay?” He asks

You nod, still feeling shaken about the situation. “I’m good.” Your voice squeaked a little at the end. His eyes scan your face, making sure you were actually okay then he gave a guilty look. “Okay. I’m sorry about that. I wasn’t paying attention. It won’t happen again, ever.”

Tucking your bangs behind your ear, you shake your head. “Don’t sweat. We’re both okay, that’s all that matters.” You smile at him so he knew that you meant it and once he did, both of you continued on foot to a unknown destination.

You two were taking a stroll through the quiet side of the city, away from busy streets and crowded sidewalks. It was peaceful, the sun just started to set, leaving a warm glow of yellow and pink. The air was cool and the crickets began to chirp.

“So how’s life been? I haven’t seen you for awhile.” You point out to Clark. A small grin appears on his lips as he looks down at you;
“It’s been good. Just busy with work. You?”

You shrug. “Same as always only now I have to start applying for jobs in the city and get started on my life.”

He agrees with a nod of his head. “Are you excited for graduation?”

“Yes!” You answer immediately with a enthusiastic tone. Your child like behavior of excitement made him giggle.

“Are you going?” You ask turning and walking backwards behind him.

“Of course,” he says. “Why would I miss something so important to you.”

His answer made you smile. “Thanks Clark. And Lois is going of course?”

“Uh,” he begins. You pause in your tracks at his answer.

“’Uh’ what?”

His mouth tightened into a thin line then curved, followed by his eyes making a ‘not so sure’ look. “She might be out of town around that time.”

You took in a deep breath, not liking that. “You’ve got to be kidding me?” you said in a exasperated tone, slouching your body. “She promised me!”

“Hey but I’ll be there. That’s something.” He shrugs, not sure what to say.

He was right. He’s your best friend and your go to person when you need to talk to someone and never has he rejected you so this was something.

“You’re right. As long as you’re there I’ll be okay.”

At your words he gives a warming smile, then out of nowhere a loud grumble emerged from your body. Clark raises his brows then laughs, “Okay so now that we got that out of the way let’s get you something to eat.”

Red cheeks, you agreed with a quick nod as you walked side by side with him with your hands over your stomach.

Luckily for the two if you, there was a pizzeria near by just around the corner, it was small but had a home feeling to it. It stood out like a sore thumb; the lights buzzed and flickered and only a few people were working including the manager; he was a nice man, he complimented how good you two looked together as a couple. ‘I can see the romance burning between you two!’ He said in his native tongue, his son had to apologize with an embarrassed look when you clarified to them that you and Clark were just friends.

After they left to the back to take care of your order you and Clark took a seat at the only table there with two chairs that sat at the corner. It was small but then again this was a ‘go to and leave’ kind of shop; you get your food and walk off.

Poor Clark, he was a big guy so it was amusing seeing him keep shifting to get a comfortable position.
“Do you want to trade spots? I can fit in that corner.”

“No. No. No” he kept saying. “I’m okay.”

After another two minutes of seeing him keep changing positions you sighed with a shake of your head. “That’s it, we’re trading. Get up Kent.”

He slouches his body onto the seat, feeling defeated and got up so you can sit down. “Better?” You ask seeing him not move so much in his seat.

With red cheeks he nods, “Yeah. Thanks Y/n.” He says sheepishly.

“What would you do without me Clark?” You said leaning back into your seat and crossing your arms, smiling at him.

“Honestly, I don’t know.” He answers leaning forward and placing his elbows on the table.

“Me neither…” you say quietly to yourself, wondering if you’ll be able to ever get over him.

Silence settled between you two, both thinking of the same thing without the other one knowing it. Until the son approached your table with a large pizza cluttered with olives, mushrooms, spinach and pepperonis. He then settled two plates and said he’ll be back with your drinks.

The smell hit your nostrils and you hummed, eager to dig into the Italian delicousy. “Whoa there tiger,” Clark cooed, seeing your hunger rising as he set your plate and his.

You didn’t listen and grabbed a slice from the tray, strings of melting cheese trailed over the table, light coat of grease over the pie. It looked beautiful to you.

The first bite was hot and full of flavor, you didn’t care that it was burning your mouth, you were just really hungry. Clark also was stuffing his face and taking in the deliciousness.

After a few slices you two sat back with fully bellies.
“That was needed.” You huffed out. Clark hummed in agreement then he suddenly burped loudly, you two were quiet then you smiled at him but then you burped loudly too.

Quickly you covered your mouth and looked at Clark in embarrassment, a smile slowly crept on his lips and he started laughing, you shortly joined in. Tears streaming from your eyes and stomach starting to feel sore from so much laughing.

After a few more moments of laughter it quieted down and left you two to silently stare at each other.
Clark watched you with admiration in his eyes, you were the perfect girl to him and though there was flaws, that is what made you perfect.

He opened his mouth to say something, “Y/n?”

Your eyes looked to him and he couldn’t help that gaze you would give him every time he called for you. “Yeah?” You asked with a tinge of a smile on your lips and a little of curiosity in your voice.

He took in a deep breath, careful of his next words. “I have to tell you something..” his voice trailed off. Your heart sped up a bit, what did he want? Is it about the other night?

“Listen Clark if you’re still on about what happen at the park–it’s okay. I understand. You don’t need to keep feeling guilty about it.” You reached for his hand and rubbed his knuckles gently with a soft smile.

He returned one back but he shook his head, “No there’s more to that. I don’t know how to tell you this–”

“–Then don’t. Wait until you’re absolutely ready but for now can we just enjoy this night?” You look to your side at the quiet night. He stared at you and nodded, “Of course Y/n. I’m sorry.”
“You can apologize by walking with me.” You stood and held your hand to him.

He took it and stood walking with you to his bike, he grabbed it and you wrapped an arm around his to lean against him as you two walked together.
“It’s nice right now.” You said leaning your head on his arm.

He nods in agreement looking up at the white sparkles in the black sky, “It sure is.”

A tear drop of water landed on his cheek making him wipe it off. “Looks like it’s going to rain.” He pointed out right before more drops of water started to come down.

“Damn, my camera.” You sigh as you rushed for cover under an awning.

The calm rainstorm cornered you two, unable to get anywhere without risking getting soaked.

You opened your camera bag to make sure none of your equipment was damaged.
“Is everything okay?” Clark asked over the storm. You give him a thumbs up as you continued to fiddle through the lenses and cables. “So far looks like everything is okay.” You answer.

“That’s good. I’m glad. Sorry about the storm.” He gestures his his chin.

“You kidding?” You scoffed at him as you zipped up your bag and put it down where it was safe. He looked at you.

“Rain storms are the best!” You shout and darted out to the empty streets. Spinning around the puddles with your arms above your head.

Clark smiles softly.

“C’mon Clark! Not afraid of a little water are you?” The teasing in your tone caused him to raise a brow at you.

“It that a dare, (Y/n)?” Your name resonates from his cool deep voice.

You lick your bottom lip and giggle a bit, knowing full well what you just started.

With narrowed, predator like eyes not leaving you he pushes himself off the wall and lifts the strap of his bag from across his chest and settles it down next to your camera bag. He then proceeds to start walking from the warmth of under the awning and towards you.

Your feet start to slowly back yourself away, ready to run the other way from him. His long legs carried him with only a few lengthy strides and he as only a few feet from you.

You zipped off, both of you running around trash cans and trees on the sidewalk, you used every possible obstacle you can to slow him down but somehow he was more cunning and quick.

You smiled and laughed, able to just slip his grasp, feeling his finger tips just grazing your arms and slightest tugs of your shirt.

When you looked back you didn’t see him until you ran right into him, there he wrapped his arms firmly around you and he spun you around.

You yelped at the surprise, placing your hands on his shoulders.

Slowly he stopped and you two settled against each other, both breathing hard from running around and then you started to shiver.
“You’re cold,” he said with concern, feeling his arms tighten a bit to bring you closer.
“I-I’m fine.” You smiled up at him.

The street light from above highlighted the droplets on your plump lips. His eyes cast down at them and you noticed, one of his hands found they’re way to the back of your head and held you in place as he slowly closed his eyes and brought his face closer to yours and paused.

“Clark….” you said in a sweet whisper, urging him to go further with his actions, your hands gripping the collar of his shirt.

He grinned in response, pleased with your reaction and grazed your lips with his. Just that teeniest, tiniest touch set your skin ablaze, your heart was in your throat and you couldn’t breath but none of that mattered, what matters is this moment.

One of your hands cupped his cheek, as he continued the tease, he wanted to remember this as you.

His lips were soft just like you imagined, his taste was sweet and even in the cold rain you felt the heat from his body and his mouth was an even higher temperature.

His tongue grazed your bottom lip, begging for entry and you obliged. He indulged in your soft touch, holding you closer to him, afraid that something might pull you away.

The kiss was hot and wet, exactly how you pictured it would be.

You two pulled away, faces inches from each other. A wide smile appeared on both your faces.
“I’ve been wanting to do that for a long time. I’m in love with you (Y/n).” Clark said with a hoarse voice. There. He said it. He finally fucking said it.

You let out a shaky laugh, keeping your eyes closed. “Fuck. I’ve always wanted to say that to you. Guess you beat me?”

His then opens his eyes in shock. “Really?” A hopeful tone.

You nodded then a phone rang.

You both look to your bags.

“Sounds like yours.” You said.

“I’ll check it later. Probably Louis.” He shrugged off looking back at you.

Then realization dawned on you. Quickly you pushed yourself away from him and covered your mouth with your hands.

“What?” Clark asks puzzled. “What is it? What’s wrong”

“This is wrong. Oh this is wrong on so many levels! What am I doing?!” You shout walking to your bags.

“I’m so sorry Clark! I shouldn’t have done that!” You then proceed to take out your phone and message Bruce to pick you up, he replies quickly that he’s around the area. You turn on your phone gps signal for him to find you.

“What? What are you talking about?” He asks quickly as he grabs his bag and bike.

“This was so wrong. I knew it! You’re so stupid (Y/n)!” You shake your head as you continue to walk away from him.

“(Y/n)! Please! Talk to me! Please!” He begs as his softly grabs your arm. He turns you around but you kept your head down. “No this is wrong.”

He cupped your cheeks to face you to him and he saw the tear trails. “Did I do something wrong? I’m sorry if I did.” He was worried and confused, what happen to the happy moment?

You cried more and just shook your head. “I’m horrible. Louis is a good friend how can I do this to her!”

He furrowed his brows for a moment to think and then put the pieces together. She thinks he’s with Louis.

“I’m sorry! I overheard you guys a couple weeks ago in the copying room and you confessed your feelings to her and I just come in wrecking it all! I’m so sorry!” You slipped from hi grasp, just in time for Bruce to pull up around the corner.

Holding your bags close to you you kept our head dipped as you ran to the passenger side and got into the car.

Clark watched like a fool, letting you slip again. He confessed but he didn’t think to clarify with (Y/n) about Louis.

Now she knows so what will happen?

He put his head down, the rain now slowing down to a mild sprinkle. He stood in the empty street, jaw clenched.
A smile crept to his lips as he also remembered that you too confessed to him.

“I might have a chance with her.” He said to himself.

A Splintered Holiday

School

Word Count: 616

Pairing: Teenage Clark Kent x BlackFem!Reader

Warning: Swearing, Fluff.

Summary: Y/N had to set the record straight with Clark bullies.

A/N: I’ve had a bad day so I’m just going to use this as a distraction.

Y/N walked into the cafeteria looking for Clark. He had been avoiding her all day and she didn’t like it. “Bingo.” She saw him face deep in a book.

He looked up when Y/N placed her things on the table. “Kent why are you avoiding me?”

“I’m not.” Clark sat his books down. He didn’t want Y/N handling his problems if he told her what happened yesterday so he avoided her.

“Yes, you are. I waited to pick you up until your mom had to come outside and tell me you were gone. Clark tell me the truth.” Y/N sat down beside him, grabbing his hand. He was like her teddy bear, Y/N could be hard to everyone else but him. Clark held a soft spot in Y/N’s heart.

Clark knew he couldn’t hold anything back from Y/N. “I went with my dad to the shop in town.” He fumbled with his book. “Tyler and his group of friends pulled me out of the truck. He basically wanted me to fight him but I didn’t.”

Y/N tilts her head at the crazy shit that Clark just told her. “Oh hell no.”

He grabbed her hand, “No Y/N don’t do anything.” She pushed his hand off, sitting her phone on the table.

“Too late.”

Y/N walked up to Tyler’s table with her hair flowing behind her. She was angry and nothing was stopping her. Y/N came behind Tyler tapping his shoulder.

Tyler laughed at what his friends said. “I know right? Oh Y/N what-”

Y/N punches him square in the nose hearing that satisfying crack. “You wanna fuck with Clark huh?!?” He falls to the floor on his back. She punches him again going for the eye.

“Fight back you insecure ass bitch!”

Someone pulled Y/N off him as the cafeteria stared in shock some scared. Good. The person who pulled her off was Clark and it made her calm down a bit.

“Y/N!”

Just a bit.

Y/N pulled away ignoring Clark. She stood on top of an empty cafeteria table gaining everyone’s attention. “To everyone who goes to this fuck ass school. Listen up!”

“Y/N get down!” Clark whispered nervously was ignored once again. When she felt everyone was paying attention, she spoke again.

“If you mess with Clark Kent, I’m going to fuck you up myself. I stand on that so don’t try shit. I’ll do you just like I did Tyler bitch ass. You are a pathetic ass bitch if you mess with Clark, especially if he doesn’t do anything to anyone. So mess with Clark if you bad and I won’t hesitate to beat yo ass!” She said with authority turning around every second so everyone in this sorry-ass school can see that she wasn’t playing.

The security and the principal walked in to come to get them. Y/N rolled her eyes seeing people help Tyler off the floor. Clark held his hand out to help her get off the table which she took. “Come with me young lady.” The principal pointed out to Y/N.

She waved the principal off, grabbing her things from a random student. Clark grabbed his things out of their grasp as well. “You alright?” She asked looking at him.

“I’m fine. You didn’t have to do that Y/N.”

“Oh I had to and they better have taken me seriously, if not. They will see how serious I am.”

Clark tried to hide his smile but he was glad that Tyler got what he deserved. “You are something else Y/N.”

She ruffed his hair laughing. “And I don’t care.”

————

This shit short as fuck but I don’t care hell. Y'all I was pissed off, and I wrote this while I was mad. Hell, I’m still kinda mad.

My momma tried to go through my phone when she hasn’t done that since I was 14. I’m turning 18 next week like wtf! she done lost it.

Stay slutty my friends!

New York

Word Count: 2,655

Pairing: Avengers x BlackFem!Reader. Justice League x BlackFem!Reader but more specifically Clark Kent x BlackFem!Reader.

Warning: Arguing, mention of miscarriage, angst.

Summary: After not being in contact for so long, someone decides to make a visit.

A/N: The title has nothing to do with the one short. Oops. Anyway I hope you guys enjoy! below is Y/N’s outfit for the first half.

A long day after helping the team on their mission, Y/N wanted some pizza. It was around 10 p.m. when she decided to leave the tower. Tony was asleep in the chair, Steve was asleep on the couch. Natasha and Bucky were on the floor watching a movie. Thor was rummaging through the refrigerator, he was watching the movie as well but stopped to get some snacks.

Loki was in the library reading a book. Peter was on patrol so that’s why she felt safe with being out so late. “Loki I’m leaving to get some pizza okay?” He closed his book, preparing to stand up.

“Alright, I’m going with you.”

Y/N placed a hand on his chest so he could stay sitting. “ I want to go by myself Loki. I’m going to be perfectly fine, Peter’s patrolling right now.”

Loki sigh trying to push down his overprotective feeling. “Alright, just be careful. I don’t want anything to happen to you.” Y/N hummed kissing his forehead, she then walked to the living. Everyone in their same position except Thor was now back on the floor.

Y/N kissed each of their foreheads, “I’m going to go get some pizza. Anyone wants anything?”

Natasha shook her head,“ No, be careful though. I really want to pause this good movie to save your ass.” Y/N rolled her eyes playfully, grabbing her purse from the hook.

“Bring me back some pizza? I’m rather hungry.” Thor said with his eyes glued to the tv.

“You’re always hungry Thor. Bring me some too. Better yet, why don’t I just come.” Y/N heard shuffling from behind her. She wanted to take a peaceful by herself to get pizza, is that too hard to ask? “No Bucky, I want to go by myself. I can handle it.”

She turns around to see him looking at her hesitantly. “You sure Y/N? I don’t mind coming-”

“I got it, really. Go enjoy the movie Bucky. I’ll be right back.” Y/N cut him off, walking out of the door. Bucky stood there dumbfounded, “Is she acting weird or it’s just me?” He pointed to the door, looking at Natasha and Thor.

“She seems alright with me.” Natasha shrugged and Thor didn’t reply.

Y/N took a deep breath hearing the new york life sparkle in her ears. Taxis coming and going. The roar of the subway beneath Y/N’s feet. Everyone talking but still being able to hear your own conversation.

Lights flashing brightly, babies crying, the homeless constantly asking for money. The smell of 1,000 vendors, many selling gyros. Broadway fans going insane when their favorite cast member walks out of the stage door. People of every race, color, and religion.

“Finally,” Y/N mumbled after a good minute of walking, she arrived at the pizza store on the corner. She ordered and stood in line for 15 minutes then left with 5 boxes of pizza. Stopping at the park, Y/N sat on a bench eating pizza enjoying the night air.

Y/N was happy with life but sometimes a person just wants to be alone. A little part of her misses the old lifestyle she had. Bruce, Barry, Diane, Victor, and Arthur. She missed them so much, especially Clark but he was the last person she wanted to see.

They were old lovers, at one time there wasn’t a thing Clark wouldn’t do for Y/N. Time skip, Y/N found out she was pregnant but due to stress from Clark, she miscarried. No one knew because of the genuine smile she held on her face. He was probably so caught up with Lois to not notice that she’d been gone for a year now.

She loved Clark, Y/N was his best friend. Lois came into the picture and he dropped everything just for her. Heartbroken, Y/N came to new york searching for happiness. She found it in the avengers who she now calls family.

Today was the anniversary of her baby and she just wanted to be alone. She was alone when it happened so she rather be alone now. Y/N stared off into space not even hearing someone land beside her. You read right, land.

“Y/N?”

The deep voice took her out of her gaze. Y/N turned to see Clark in his superman attire. Shocked, she could barely get anything out. “…Clark??”

Clark’s face held worry,“ Y/N…” Y/N furrow her eyebrow confused cutting him off.

“What are you doing here Clark?”

“I can’t come to see you now? Y/N I haven’t seen you in months.”

“Clark I don’t wanna talk about that right now. I want to know how did you know I was here??” Y/N stood up, placing her unfinished pizza in the box. She couldn’t even enjoy alone time without being bothered.

“Bruce’s been track you this whole time Y/N. Come home, we miss you. I miss you.” He reached out for her hands. Surprisingly Y/N let him grab her hands. She shook her head.

“Clark I can’t just leave. I have a life and family here. You have Lois now, that’s who you need. Not me.”

Clark looked down,“ She left me Y/N. Lois said me being superman was too much."Y/N sigh knowing how to hurt he was. Yes, she was mad at him but sometimes not everything needs a reaction. Keeping it calm, she gave him a hug.

"I’m so sorry Clark, I should’ve been there for you.”

Clark held her close smelling her wonderful smell of lavender. “It’s okay Y/N. I know this life is treating you well.”

Y/N could feel that it was getting late. “Clark I have to go, but I do have to ask you something.” He pulled back glazing into her brown eyes.

“What is it Y/N?”

“Tomorrow evening bring the team to the tower. I want everyone to meet each other. I’ll cook! It’ll be so much fun.”

Clark looked at her with hesitation, “I don’t know Y/N..”

Y/N gave him the puppy dog eyes, “Please Clark? You get to see me in a nice outfit.” He smiled giving in.

“Oh alright.”

——-

“A little bit of this,” Y/N murmured pouring grated cheese on top of the macaroni. She placed it in the oven, closing the door with her butt. Dinner consisted of steak with tarragon mushrooms with a side of macaroni. Y/N had been in the kitchen all day while the team did their overview with Fury for missions they have done.

“Smells amazing in here Y/N! What you make?” Steve’s voice came from behind while she grabbed plates out of the cabinet. “Food Steve. You’ll see when it’s dinner time and if you don’t mind, can you help me set the table?”

Steve nodded his head with a smile, “Sure I don’t mind Y/N.” The two joked around while they set the table. Clark and everyone were to be here in about 20 minutes. When she got home from the park last night, Y/N told the avengers about this evening dinner, and boy it was some weird faces.

She didn’t know who was harder to convince, Tony or Steve. Maybe because they had been on the team longer. Once finished Y/N ushered Steve to go get dressed. She was so caught up with finishing the meal, that she didn’t check the time. “Fuck!”

It was 10 minutes until Clark and the rest got there. She was nowhere near ready. “Y/N why aren’t you ready?” Tony asked in disbelief when he walked into the kitchen. Y/N pulled at her hair.

“I know, I know! I was too caught up in finishing the steaks. Can you watch the food so it won’t burn? please?”

Tony sigh,“If that makes you get dressed faster then I’ll watch it.” He opened the lid, the food smelled amazing. “Yeah hurry up, this smells good. I’m ready to eat.”

“Thank you!” She kissed his cheek, rushing past so can get dressed.

———

“Y/N they’re here!” Steve called up the stairs. Y/N hopped around on one foot trying to put on the other boot. When it finally slid on her foot, she stood in front of a mirror taking a deep breath. She wanted all her favorite people to come together and be her support. To make her forget about the pain she went through a year ago yesterday.

Y/N walked downstairs with all eyes on her. Clark’s mouth was agape from how good she looked. “Arthur! Diana! I’ve missed you guys!” Y/N hugged her with passion.

“Me too. You look beautiful.” Diana hugged her back. Y/N moved towards Arthur giving him a hug. “Thank you.”

“Yeah you look too good, don’t make me have to beat anyone up from looking too hard.” Thor snorted which made Arthur glance at him for a second. Y/N moved to Bruce.

“I hope you’re doing good Bruce other than Barry getting on your nerves.”

“Hey!” Barry said in defense.

“I’m good, just missed having you around."Bruce expressed which kinda shocked Y/N because he wasn’t so open. She then gave Victor and Barry a hug. "I’ve missed you, two knuckleheads, together.”

“We’ve missed you too.” Victor smiled.

“What are we eating, it smells so good in here,” Barry said excitedly. Y/N laughing gesturing towards the dining table. “We’re about to find out, let’s eat!”

Everyone cheered a bit sitting at the table, you know they didn’t mingle but sat on the opposite side. Y/N walked over to the stove trying to bring the food to the table but Natasha stopped her.

“I got it Y/N, go sit down. You’ve been on your feet all day, I can bring the food to the table.” Natasha grabbed the glass casserole dish out of her hand. She wasn’t lying about her feet hurting but Y/N wasn’t going to admit it.

Y/N sigh, “Fine, I’m bringing the champagne to the table though.” She hurriedly grabbed two bottles of champagne before Natasha could protest. She definitely needed a sip before dealing with two rival heroes.

———-

There were conversations here and there but most of Y/N. She had all her favorite people in one room. Dinner was running smoothly until

“So Y/N, Clark told us that you were coming back to stay permanently. I’m excited to have you back.” Barry used his knife to cut the steak. Y/N didn’t know who to look at crazy him or Clark. She could feel the hard glaze from Bucky.

“What’s speedy boy talking about Y/N?” Tony asked tilting his head. Steve sat down his knife.

“Yes please do explain.”

“I uh haven’t said anything like that. I had planned on visiting, it wasn’t official.” Y/N scratched her arm out of nervousness from all eyes on her.

“I knew I wasn’t going insane. Y/N wasn’t going to go back permanently, she’s not that crazy.” Thor chuckled drinking his champagne.

Victor glanced at him sideways.“What’s that supposed to mean? Y/N wouldn’t be crazy if she came back permanently. That’s honestly the perfect decision if she does.”

“Guys..” Y/N trailed off but was ignored by everyone. “Y/N is right where she belongs. Do I need to say more?” Loki wiped his mouth with a napkin.

“If she wants to come back permanently then she can. Y/N’s only been with you guys for what ? a year? She’s been with us forever so you know who she’s going to choose.” Arthur leaned back in the seat.

“Sure fish boy.” Tony let his smart mouth get the best of him. Y/N took a sip of her champagne to calm her nerves.

“Guys…”

She was ignored again. “Y/N is coming with us and that’s final. That’s the only reason why I came to this wretched place was for her.” Clark crossed his arm and Bucky narrowed his eyes at him.

“She’s not going anywhere with you. I stand on that.”

“Barnes right, you think I was going to let her leave with you after what you did? That’s really funny.” Natasha chugged the rest of her champagne down. Y/N winced at what she said.

“Guys please.”

“Does that matter? Y/N is coming whether you like it or not.” Bruce said setting his fork down. Diana nodded in agreement.

“I don’t have to anything. Just know I’m not going down without a fight?”

“You people are so petty and tiny.” Thor laughed using his fingers to indicate how small they were.

“If Y/N doesn’t want to leave she isn’t going to leave. it’s her decision.” Steve sat forward in his seat. They were getting louder by the minute.

“She isn’t going, you weaklings,” Loki growled sitting forward in his seat as well, not taking eyes off Arthur. Both Clark and Bucky held an intense stare.

“We should go few rounds.” Tony stood up and so did Bruce.

“Let’s do it then Stark.”

Y/N chugged down the rest of the champagne. “Stop.” The argument between them grew louder. “Stop!” Y/N stood up placing her hands on the table, no one noticed.

She slammed her hands against the table. “STOP! JUST STOP IT!” Everyone stared at her in shock.

“ENOUGH WITH THIS! I brought you altogether because I wanted support. I needed support."Y/N gritted through her teeth, tears welling in her eyes. "The one time I step out, you all can’t even put your petty egos aside. I don’t care who I’m staying with and I don’t fucking know why it’s an argument. I just wanted it to be a normal night.”

Y/N lips trembled as she cried, “I can’t hold on to this no longer. I was pregnant before I left Clark. I lost the baby. I lost it the day I went to find out the gender.” Clark squeezed his eyes closed, his heart broke hearing the news. “And I hate myself so much for even letting myself stress so much that I lost it. When it happened I was alone. I didn’t have you, Bruce, or Diana. I didn’t have no one. I came to New York heartbroken.”

She looked at the Avengers, they held a sad face. Natasha’s cheeks were coated with tears.“You guys mended my broken heart. You made me feel welcome and I don’t know how I could ever repay you.” Y/N wiped her tears.

“But I can’t deal with this between all of you. I’m leaving so you can have your big ego contest.”

She slid the chair back, walking to the elevator. “Y/N!” Bucky called for her but she ignored him. “Shit!” Clark curses under his breath getting up from the chair. Tony shook his head at him.

“Leave her be Clark. She probably went up to the roof or to the park for fresh air.”

————

Y/N sat in the chair at the airport. She was only going out of the country for a couple of days just to clear her mind. Bruce and Tony have been blowing up her phone none stop. She was tired and waiting on her flight to be called. “Ugh, I’m so tired.” She mumbled rubbing her temple. She got up going to the bathroom.

It was oddly quiet until she heard panicked screams. “What?” She murmured looking over her shoulder. Parademons were everywhere. Y/N scrambled to grab her phone trying to be quiet. She slid down the wall, covering her mouth trying to contain her breathing so she wouldn’t be heard. The vibration from her phone caught one of their attention and she didn’t know.

Still scrambling, Y/N declined the call somehow. She knew she was fucked, tears raced down her melanin cheeks as she held her breath. The parademons appeared beside Y/N, one inspected making sure she was the right one. It snatched Y/N up and she screamed.

CLARK!”

——–

The two teams were either sitting around or cleaning up. Clark stood in front of the wet dishes drying them off while Bucky cleaned them. He froze hearing Y/N scream in his ears. Diana noticed and instantly spoke up.

“What is Clark? What’s wrong?”

“Y/N’s been kidnapped.”

——-

Omg, I feel like this is so weird. I am going to make a part 2 I just gotta think about how it’s going to go. I have a busy weekend ahead so I won’t update until Monday.

Yk i had to make Y/N damsel in distress . Clark is her lover but Bucky does like her. This is kinda a part 2 of Vacation. I love Marvel and DC so why not put them together !

I hope you guys enjoyed this weird post even though the title has nothing to do with the plot of the story, I just couldn’t think of anything .
