One of my most recent favorite cast-on’s is #plusshawl by the very talented @olgajazzyknits! It has been quite a while since a shawl found it’s way on to my needles, but I am finding this knit quite difficult to put down. After the completion of each row, I just find myself saying, “one more….ok, maybe two more”, until I find myself completing another repeat! We love this knit so much, that we have added kits to the shop, half features our 100% American Superwash Merino Rose Sport and the other, our brand new ROAN Sport, as the contrasting color. ✨You can find them on the home page of our website✨

Ai-yi-yi. Fingers crossed that once this sweater is finished and off scrap yarn and the colorwork section is wet-blocked aggressively that it will fit better. Meanwhile, onward I knit.

Happy #wipwednesday #woollovewednesday and Groundhog Day! - Finally finished with gift knitting, I am back to my least fave part of a sweater: inches and inches of stockinette.

No pattern used. I only made an attempt by looking at a photo.

Im racing the dropping temperatures to finish this scarf but I like how it’s turning out!#kn

Lack of updates have been due to some intense sewing projects, combined with an RSI on my hand (no relation, I’m sure!). This was another experiment into magic looping and required a restart - I found out that I knit a lot tighter on loop when I’m doing color work and cables, and first iteration of the leg wouldn’t even go past my heel. I frogged it and then did the leg parts on dpns, then looped the foot.

These went to my friend’s wife who had asked for Gryffindor themed socks. This yarn was incredibly soft and nice to knit, and the colors were pretty bang on perfect. I call them “Gryffindor homeroom socks” because wouldn’t they just be perfect for that?

Pattern: Pakkasyöt by Niina Laitinen (Finnish only)
Yarn: Schachenmayr SMC Universa
Colorways: 32 & 6123

Perseverance is the name of the game. This double knit scarf took me a year to finish. The pattern itself wasn’t overly hard, once you get the hang of working two strands, but it was repetitive and time consuming.

Each row took roughly 5 minutes (mostly observing the chart and alternating colors) and each section had about 50 rows that I repeated 12 times.

I would work a few rows then pick up a different project that held my interest more until I came back to it again.

But finally I got close enough to the end to do a final push over a week to just get it done.

And honestly I’m glad it’s finished and it won’t take up space on my night stand anymore.

I’m happy with the finished product and will likely start another difficult project that I can pick up and put down between my smaller projects.
