TW: I talk about religion and the government covid situation.

PSA:

some people in the gov. are trying to pass a bill. This bill will make it mandatory that if you are caught outside with a 100.4 fever or higher, you will have to to get the vaccine.

BUT that’s not the bad part. The bad part is that once you are given the vaccine, you HAVE to get a chip put inside you saying you got the vaccine. The last digits of the vaccine label are 06, 06, 06,….if this bill is passed(I highly doubt it) please be careful and avoid getting this tracking chip.

and know that the day of Jesus coming might be soon.

When you forget take off your mask

I strongly suggest, my dearest friends, that if you have anything to spare that you consider making care packages for your elderly friends and neighbors.
Be safe, of course. Be considerate and courteous. There’s still an illness rampant in the streets. But consider how difficult it is for them to get out to stores and if they are able, how naked and bare they are.

If you have a roll of TP you can afford to part with (you can, unless you’re a twat who’s wiping your ass with half a roll of TP every time you drop a deuce), add that to the pack. If you have a couple cans of protein – tuna, pork and beans, chicken, salmon, etc – put that in there.  Sanitary pads can be used by anyone who has incontinence, add two or three (especially if they’re overnights or heavys). Any sort of sanitizing products, portion it into a ziploc or a small bottle and share. A couple bottles of water. Napkins you might be hoarding in your glove compartment, if you have a car.

People are afraid. The elderly are often alone, with very few people to rely on.  We shouldn’t have to be.  Remember kindness.

Stay safe out there.

Little Sister looks after Big Sister ❤️ Thank you Sister!! I was scared, I was in pain and I didn’t know what was to come but you took care of me, you held me, you wiped away my tears and you have been there through each step. When you couldn’t be with me in hospital you were there on the phone. Family, best friend and my nurse at home. Love you Day 5 and I’m getting stronger and feeling better daily . Thank you to the people who sent kind messages, love and good vibes It really meant the world to me and lifted my spirits Some People are still not taking this seriously. It’s scary -I was throwing up and on the toilet at the same time multiple times through the first day, the fever appeared and then when It broke I got severe chills, i was light headed, I lost shortness of breath, I lost the ability to be able to speak properly in full sentences,my lungs just wouldn’t let me, my chest was tight, I wasn’t able to get in and out of a bath alone, i needed help to get in and out of bed and even eating became painful!! Please take this seriously and please stay home. 1) We are a united Church. So many people keep praying. Churches are closed but every home is a small Church. Every Orthodox Christian is united to all the Orthodox worldwide through prayer, as we are praying for each other and for the world.

2) We must trust in Lord. On days where I don’t feel I have accomplished as much as I would like, I have put our trust in Lord in order to help me to be strong. He’s the one that can protect us and that He can bring us out of this situation.

2) Patience is important. I have accepted that I can’t do a lot in order to accomplish as much as I would like, so I am trying to be patient.

3) Life is precious. As Christmas is approaching, everyone keeps thinking about gifts. The real gift is our existance, that we will all celebrate Christmas together, without anyone missing.

4) Don’t take anyone for granted. The most important thing is how much we value certain things and people that we ordinarily take for granted. That includes spouses, family and friends. Let us not take them for granted.. This pandemic has taken away many beloved people of ours.

ANDRA’ TUTTO BENE, everything will be fine

The world is facing a difficult moment: we are all fighting against this invisible enemy. Imprisoned in our homes, with our freedom sacrificed, perhaps we have forgotten that we are all under the same sky.

Fill the web with colors, we need to paint the boards with the rainbow, let’s spread some light and life ❤ #arainbowforhope

I worked a cash register in a crappy grocery store on Friday the 13th, the day the schools got word that they were going remote because of the virus.

There were horrible people. I don’t need to go into details because we’ve all heard them or read about them or experienced them firsthand.

But most people were just scared and anxious and trying to take care of their families in spite of bad local and state and national leadership and terrible messaging and limited personal resources. They were intense, but understandably so.

My bosses weren’t great, not on any level, from CEO to shift managers, but that’s not news, most of us have been exploited and abused in our jobs before and during Covid.

We weren’t allowed to wear masks because the store thought it would freak out the customers. Some people quit on the spot, but precious few because it’s not the kind of job you work if you have a ton of options. A woman came through my line and she was wearing a cloth mask with a pretty botanical print. I complimented the design and we bonded over love of fabrics and crafts. She asked about the store mask situation, I explained store policy, she shook her head, left with her groceries, and I kept working the endless line. She was back four hours later with a mask for me. She’d gone home, put away her perishables, sat down at her sewing machine, made a mask for a stranger, and then gone back out into crazy traffic and crowds, just to find me and give it to me. She gave it to me in front of the floor manager, and explained to the manager that she was worried about the employees, and my boss had to let me wear it (out of a weird mental loophole of  ‘customer is always right’ even though no other employees were allowed to wear one that day and for a few weeks afterward, which sounds insane, but it’s true).

Another woman had come through with a ton of cheese, really cool fancy stuff. I’m in the cheese fandom so we had a good time chatting. She left with her groceries and I kept working the line. About an hour later, she was back in my line again with more fancy cheeses. I rang her up, bagged her food, handed it to her, and she handed the bag to me and said “This is yours, I’m grateful for all the essential workers but I don’t know how to tell you guys or keep you safe, so I’m just doing this.” She’d put her groceries in her car, gone back into a madhouse, picked out cheese for an anonymous cashier, and WAITED IN LINE FOR AN HOUR so she could give it to me personally.

Toward the end of day, after credit card machines had gone down five times in as many hours (do you know what it’s like a for an entire grocery store to go cash-only for overlong periods of time on March 13 with a building full of scared customers? Do you know how funny or charming or lighthearted you have to be with that many intense people on the verge of freaking out? Sometimes being a cashier is like being a goddamm standup comedienne or therapist or surrogate mom I swear). Anyway, a guy came in toward the very end of my overtime and the card reader went down again and this customer didn’t freak out. He started SINGING. He stood there and sang to me until the computers came back online. I’ll never forget him or his sweet voice or that moment in time, ever.

I know things are bleak right now. I know they’re going to get worse. But I see acts of bravery and kindness all day, every day. Every. Day. People are channeling their despair into personal outreach that doesn’t get witnessed by many people because it’s usually one-on-one type stuff. I do a ton of climate & political stuff, as well as all my odd jobs, so I see a lot of different demographics in a lot of different situations, all of them stressful, and yes, there are sociopathic assholes in all of those settings, but there are ALWAYS always people being good and brave and looking for ways to connect or care for or support other people in a myriad of ways.

I don’t believe in very many things at this age but I will go to my grave defending the goodness of humanity. We may be isolated, we may be headfucked and heartbroken, but we are still fighting the good fight. That’s as real as all the bad stuff.

The duality of man is such that people would unite to stop the aliens from blowing up the sun, but they’d get fired for it.

powertrains:

I live in India. If any of us needs medical attention if infected, I’m quite sure we won’t survive. Delhi is a large capital city, MP’s have to tweet and beg to get medical attention for their loved ones. We have the record for highest single day infections.

This video by the BBC India bureau is pretty distressing and summarises the issue quite effectively: supplies, infrastructure, vaccines.

A crowdsourced list of fundraisers to donate (<FF> for campaigns that accept foreign funds, I’m also matching donations upto Rs 20000, DM)

If you have time this weekend: volunteer to collect information of the status of beds

Unfortunately, money will not solve all of India’s problems. This is the activism I’d encourage you to pursue if you’re not Indian:

1.The United States refuses to lift a export raw material ban on vaccine products even temporarily. Note that India exported 60 million doses of Astra Zeneca abroad before this crisis.Ban lifted, aid offered. Next step: address 3.

2.Angela Merkel threatens future retaliation against India for focusing on domestic vaccines.

3. There’s also a WTO bill that would waive patent monopolies *temporarily* in addressing COVID

I call all of this genocidal colonialism by another name. Please organise. India is the producer of vaccines and pharma that is intended to go to middle and low income countries, as long as the crisis continues here, it will have knock on effects in South America and Africa. The virus mutating through 1 billion people will get deadlier and find you too, so it’s probably in your self interest.

Campaign #PeoplesVaccine to support the WTO bill

I’ll update with resources for more countries as I find them. Generally calls work better than emails, so do try calling your representative directly if you can.

Wash your hands with soap and warm water for 30 seconds.

Don’t touch slime if you are sick because it could put germs on/in it and it could spread or get you sick again.

If you feel ill, stay inside and be extra gentle with yourself.

If you feel like you have symptoms (look them up on Google), please call a hotline and they should tell you what to do.

Don’t touch frequently touched things, and CLEAN them if you can (door handles, soap pumps, etc.)

If you’ve had/have the virus please feel free to send me an ask on what to look out for so everyone may be cautious.

Be safe and be kind. Don’t blame a race for a virus that could’ve started anywhere.
