When I mention to people that these masks are made of nothing but paper and glue with paint, they’re usually shocked. It takes hours of shaping, drying, and carving with various tools to get to a stage where I consider them ready to paint.
The process starts off with a plaster cast of my face to use as a sizing base, with a pattern drawn overtop before the strips of glue-soaked paper towel are gently laid overtop.
All of the masks I make are of course fully functional, made to fit, and inscribed with Sul'voth markings on the inside.
The Sage Mask is definitely among the most complex designs I’ve made thus far, with some special eye-shapes I have an adoration of.
The intention for this piece, beyond its representation of a crown and the presence of my Sacred Crest, was for a more austere and somber expression. Wise beyond the years, and a cold face of an ancient entity.
