ProtoceratopsbyLucas-Attwell

The old matron was always dusted with sand, a rouge of grit on her bony cheeks, powderings of yellows and tans across her back and haunches. She’d lived long enough for the desert to start to become part of her, instead of the other way around. When the wind kicked up and it seemed the very earth was being swept into the sky, she would simply face away from the gusts—no one likes sand in their nostrils—and hum to herself, letting the storm pass as if it was as innocuous as a June breeze. When the gales ceased and the sand settled across her body, she would strut, nose high, waiting for the desert to acknowledge her glamor.

Gorgosaurus, Gerhard Heilmann, 1927

Greed is powerful. Greed ensures there is never enough for one, let alone two, or—heaven forbid!—three. Greed brings choking and births belly aches. Greed suppresses contentment, dissuades cooperation, and encourages conflict. Greed is both the parched earth and the deluge that floods it, a nag of want atop a pile of plenty. Greed promises, but never fulfills. It is the darkest sweet song that serenades the heart during the earliest hours of the day and the latest seconds of the night.

Prince Creek

Watched by a foraging troodontid, a herd of Arctic hadrosaurs walk along a moonlit beach in Alaska, 69 mya.

Inspired by trackways left in volcanic ash at Prince Creek. The species depicted have unclear status at this moment in time, so let’s call them Troodon sp. and Ugrunaaluk kuukpikensis/Edmontosaurus regalis.
