LIVE

Hi there everyone! Happy First Day of Ramadan!

Today, made a warm up involving everyone’s favorite dinos, specifically, how the ecosystems they lived in also contributed to to the adaptations that made the big predators the way they are!

T.rex lived in a time where it had to punch through armor and muscle with only its face, meanwhile Spinosaurus stuck to the water, because there was FAR less competition when on land, it ran the absolute gamut of large carnivores, from Carcharodontosaurus to Rugops

Prince Creek

Watched by a foraging troodontid, a herd of Arctic hadrosaurs walk along a moonlit beach in Alaska, 69 mya.

Inspired by trackways left in volcanic ash at Prince Creek. The species depicted have unclear status at this moment in time, so let’s call them Troodon sp. and Ugrunaaluk kuukpikensis/Edmontosaurus regalis.

I’m a little behind on my drawings as you may be able to tell, but it’s fine. I can probably catch up again before too long.

Don’t ask what these colors are, I have no clue.

First episode of Prehistoric Planet came out tonight, so I took a sec to dust off some little friends.

I sculpted these, I think, about ten years ago? It started with the stego, which i made for my friend @boarfeathers, who painted it. Then came the rather sloppy parasaurolophus, and on and on it went. I never got proper pictures of some of them, and they’ve been hiding on my desk since then. Figured I’d clean them up and take a couple proper pictures.

I haven’t sculpted in a while, I may have to make them some new friends.

I’m a real paleoartist now! I have 19 illustrations of various extinct animals in the upcoming book, The Last Days of the Dinosaurs by Riley Black! It’s all about the days, years, and centuries after the asteroid impact that killed all the non-avian dinosaurs!

I had SO much fun with these! Riley is simply a delight to work with and this book is so good! The book officially releases April 26th, but you can preorder it now!
