LIVE

Ella De Vile, the (not canon) older sister of Carlos De Vile..

I took one look at the concept art for the descendants main and instantly thought that Ella could very well be an older sister to Carlos.

I didn’t change her design as much other than altering skin tone/shirt/pants

I did this for fun so I don’t really have anything set for her.. but I did think about her being the main inspiration for Evie

insert me being the real life cruella but pink bc the braiders ran out of white hair

emma stone you will always be famous

some cruellanita thoughts as a lesbian who so desperately wants them to be disney’s first openly wlw couple (but it’s disney so who i am i kidding…just waiting to be disappointed ): i spend a fair amount of time thinking back to the scene where the baroness confronts anita in an ever wretched fashion (she’s giving racist and elitist which is nothing surprising given her personality). also, if you’re not black, let me just tell you that when a white person suffocates you in that patronizing, “you’re inherently inferior” way which was evoked w every move and tone that bitch made…it’s racist. i digress, but that was important. anyway, i envision a plot line wherein anita tells cruella about this encounter which then percolates cruella with indignation such that she vows to make the baroness’ life a living hell part 2. and anita will play coy regarding what cruella is doing (perhaps a long awaited response to that day in anita’s office when cruella pretended she wasn’t for all intents and purposes flirting w anita…if you know you KNOW), which is (continuing to) fall in love w her but at some point, they’ll both let down their defenses and be direct ab how they feel towards one another. and they’ll live happily- but vengefully when need be, not to say that the two are always mutually exclusive- ever after. what can i say…they own me ‍♀️

more cruella makeup from her best protege i have the hair, the personality, the fashion (not here bc i was in my nightgown but ), the makeup…only missing that delectable accent

manifesting two wins for cruella and an appearance from emma on oscars night. still think she truly deserved a nomination but maybe they’ll stop sleeping on her as our darling in the second film

emma making a public appearance for 30 minutes is the best thing to happen in 2022 and i won’t take criticism on that statement

avengers: *avenge wronged people*

everyone: SO TRUE heroes <3

cruella: *avenges wronged people*

everyone: petty ass bitch. boo

…you guys suck

Burning Piles | A Cruella (2021) Fanfic

Writing type: third person limited as Cruella de Vil

Synopsis: As Cruella continues to grapple with her self-destructive tendencies, she finds that the evil and untouchable persona she’s conjured might just destroy the very thing she sought to protect in creating it: herself.

(was going to put the story up on Archive of Our Own but apparently one must register for an account invitation which will take a month so I’ll debut here)

“All my troubles on a burning pile

All lit up and I start to smile

If I catch fire then I change my aim

Throw my troubles at the world again”

Burning Pile - Mother Mother

To preface this piece, I just want to go over the basics to contextualize the writing. The story follows Cruella as we see her at the conclusion of Cruella (2021). It literally starts the seconds after the titular character’s bidding of “I’ve got a few ideas.” My characterization of her strictly adheres to who she is canonically in the Cruella (2021) universe. With this said, enjoy.

Chapter 1: The Beginning of the End

Tilting her head ever so slightly upward to marvel at the sheer grandeur of the manor she still considers troublesome to register as her own, Cruella finds herself in a rather uncharacteristic and accordingly displeasing state of being: one of uncertainty and its concurring abornment of discomfort. Though any outsider looking in would quite simply declare it incomprehensible that one could harbor any sentiment but that of pure bliss upon being named mistress of one of England’s most extravagant residences, not to mention the entitlement of an inordinate sum of money to accompany it- honestly, from the jubilant demeanors her friends have clearly engendered that she need not even turn to recognize, what with their increasingly irksome, audible displays, she’s not convinced it’d have to be an outsider anymore- such an outsider would have no ability to conceptualize the sense of near betrayal that arises from a woman whose goal it has always been to disenfranchise establishments preserved upon injustice like the rankings of the corrupted elite the former owner had unabashedly been apart of suddenly finding herself enveloped by the wealth she’s only ever known to accompany evil. It is not the money that is evil, she must remind herself beneath the rumblings of her company, but the people who use it to act unfairly. Just as she’s steadied her breath and regained some sense of control, even if but a semblance of it, she’s once again thrust into utter turmoil as Jasper introduces an element of accountability to the statement she’d tossed out moments before.

“Go on,” he says, his mouth upturned into what she knows is a show of approval, subtle as it may be. Though she’d never show it, as she’s all too familiar with the innate threat vulnerability poses to her, she’s pleased with his apparent excitement. Try as she might, the only way Cruella is possibly able to avoid seeking that from him, her “who cares what anyone else thinks” mentality be damned, is through literal delusion- forcing herself to believe he means nothing to her- which she’d tried in the recent past but at the all too severe cost of nearly losing him. She can only hope he understands that she’d never done it with the intention of hurting him. It was her only option. Had she taken his or Horace’s counsel into consideration, she may well have not been able to muster the mental strength she needed to reject the social conditioning that had confined her for all her life in order to follow through with her retributive quest to do right by her mother and failing her again was something she refused- refuses- to do. Oxymoronic as it may seem, shutting them out was the act that allowed her to set herself free, at least at that time in her life where apprehension centered around upending her socially acceptable caricature of the real person lying beneath inhibited her ability to embrace her true self. Still, she was and continues to resent having to indirectly hurt her family in any way, regardless of the necessity. As a firm believer in actions speaking far louder than words, she’d figured her resolve to free them of the Baroness’ schemes as she risked dire repercussions to do so attested to her want to treat them well, but perhaps it’d be best to vocalize her intentions regardless. Another part of her knows she can’t avoid acknowledging the hurt they’d caused her, and what’s more, the ambiguity- or perhaps, denial- she’s harbored regarding those intentions. Knowing that Jasper’s insight has always been of a quality far beyond his years, Cruella cannot logically posit that he wasn’t clear on her intentions (as for Horace, it’s hard to tell) and she is nothing if not logical. With this being so, why then did he seem to want to punish her? While no stranger to losing the ones she loved, Jasper and Horace’s indifference to her confiding in them that her entire life had been built on a foundation that didn’t even exist- or at least not in the way she’d always been led to believe- had haunted her from the moment they’d risen to leave her without a single regret. As if she hadn’t spent every moment contributing not only their livelihood, if one could call it that, but their very survival as long as she’d known them. Sure, they’d come around in the end, but not before she’d had to plead with them, the quiver in her voice revealing her fears of further attack by the Baroness. The way she sees it, people who love and care for each other shouldn’t have to ask one another for support, nor should they have to bargain for it. It’s something that simply should be and something that simply had been for the better part of a decade amongst the three of them. As such, her resort to desperation, not to mention the hesitancy they’d displayed in the weeks before at helping her avenge the woman she loves with every inch of her being makes her question the state of their relationship. In any case, there are a number of reasons Jasper’s query seems simple enough to answer but in reality, is anything but.

“I just mean you’d said you had a few ideas just a second ago, so…?” he tries, now looking at her with alarm. Apparently, she’d been in her head for just a little too long to avoid concern. Well that’s something, though, isn’t it? That he’s concerned for her? Lest she descend back into her cascade of overthinking, she suppresses her feelings (something she finds comes in handy as emotion, more often than not, only complicates matters), willing them away with the flick of her wrist and reasserting herself as the confident, untouchable woman she is.

Would like to be?

Far too often, she finds herself to be her most formidable adversary.

Is.

“Oh but of course, darling. When do I not?” With the draw of her cane and subsequent smack unto the seemingly infinite marble enclave, her dominance reverberates resoundingly across to anyone in the room who’d read her pause as some kind of weakness. Cruella anchors the dense hunk of metal, producing one final roar for good measure, at the center of an intricate pattern on the floor. Now that the stage has been set, she can unveil her manifesto.

“All my life, I’ve been sequestered to the shadows as the result of my circumstances. In this world, without money, you’re without value. To them, anyway. Well, the reign of the tyrant and all the vermin that keep her relevant is no more. We’re going to show the world what worthiness truly is. That respect is something one earns, not something they’re entitled to. At last, the House of de Vil can rise. Long may she live.”

And with that, Cruella blows a kiss, pivots masterfully on a razor-sharp heel in what’s for all intents and purposes a defiance of the physics that should render this impossible, and summons Buddy, perhaps her only true confidante, to join her upstairs, leaving her onlookers to quiver in her wake.

Leave no room for doubt.

She is a force who was manipulated into being brought to heel for far too long, eager to make up for lost time in the spotlight she’s always deserved.

Long may she live, indeed.

EMMA GOT NOMINATED FOR HER PORTRAYAL OF CRUELLA AND I’M CRYING- she deserves this sm. the way she quite literally was the blueprint in bringing this entirely new character to life (bc as i’ve said a million times on this acc, her cruella is a separate character from the others) with a riveting complexity…manifesting a win for her here and an oscar nom (and subsequent win there too ) bc she’s more than worthy of one for this performance.

my thoughts on cruella’s prospective development/plot for cruella (2021) sequel

so i’m basing things on the statement above from the director and everything i’ve learned and analyzed from the first film, of course. as we know, cruella is self-destructive to a detrimental level. that is, she will do things she knows cause her great harm and it all stems from a self-hatred she’s yet to escape from, even upon the finding that the baroness murdered her mother. as we know, the voiceover takes place as cruella stands over estella’s “grave” aka after every event in the film besides her and the gang driving to hell hall. in this voiceover, she still discusses her mother’s death as partially attributable to her, unfortunately. “let’s skip past the part where i killed her.” though it had once seemed like cruella had gotten past that blame when she’s shown saying “it wasn’t my fault,” the chronology attests that a bit of regression has taken place and that’s understandable given the sheer level of trauma she had to endure.

by the film’s conclusion, cruella is not stable whatsoever as she’s still grappling with the weight of what coming into her true self means- as we saw in the monologue, she faces inner turmoil between embracing herself and how she perceives that to be letting down her mother- and not everyone around her is exactly the most supportive given their continual discussion over “missing estella.” point being, this instability only deepens the chasm in which self-loathing can accrue for her.

as i’ve been over in other posts, cruella’s intentional creation of an evil public persona is both her most notable advantage in that she has effectively created a shield between her and the rest of the world that she is weary of but it’s also her most notable disadvantage because the creation of this persona will lead to a massive amount of hatred from the public. by crafting a (FALSE) narrative tor herself that has the masses believing she brutally murdered and skinned three dogs, she is bound to be despised because to the outside world, that is the “real her.” only she and those close to her know that she’d never do such a thing and that the persona is all a facade: antithetical to who she actually is as a person. essentially, she wants a way to protect herself from a society that’s been cruel to her for all of her life but the way she chooses to do this is one that she knows will bring her immense and likely unbearable amounts of pain.

cruella isn’t going to want to stop at the tale of her skinning three dogs. knowing she has an ever expanding platform, she’ll amplify the narrative and this is where an homage to the original 101 dalmatians could come in. essentially, i think she, with anita’s help, will plant a story in the press that supposedly identifies her as the killer of that many puppies/dogs and it will somehow tie into a fashion show of some sort. after all, i reckon that as the empress of what’s emerging to be the world’s most prominent fashion house, she’ll want the house of de vil to make an unforgettable debut and an apparent murderous origin from a whole line of clothing- or perhaps one massive statement piece- would do just that along with her other momentous goal to have the world hate and fear her in equal proportion such that no one can get close enough to hurt her again. with nearly unlimited access to resources now given her acquired wealth, she’ll be able to keep upping the antics, making her persona more and more formidable.

in reality, the so-called “murdered” dogs will be rescued by her and heaven knows there’s enough room to tend to a large amount of dogs in her mansion. anyway, the point is that the amount of hatred she’ll be mailed with from what could very well be millions of people if the story goes global, as i have no doubt would happen with that kind of thing, will destroy her confidence and self-esteem. it’ll make life miserable for her. yes, she knows that isn’t who she is, but to be treated LIKE she’s a heartless killer by everyone and to have to play that role to the media perpetually…i couldn’t even begin to imagine the kind of toll it would take on her, but i know it would be agonizing.

in a way, this would devastatingly further subvert her entire journey thus far, which has already been alluded to with her directly stating she’s begun to play a role for the media. “but people do need a villain to believe in and i’m happy to fit the bill.” she’s gone from having to hide under a feigned submissive personality trait- who she was as estella- to a brief time period where she could be fully herself to the outside world without being notoriously known as a killer and then directly back to having to project a fake persona, only this time, it isn’t a demure woman. it’s that of an absolute monster who murdered dogs.

the increasing trauma will likely become more and more debilitating to her as she won’t be able to even show her face anywhere without being met with loathing and contempt by all who recognize what i call the anti-cruella aka the fake version of her she’s procured to keep people away. as such, in her efforts to fend off the outside world, that world will swallow her whole with its resentment of “her” due to the method of defense through deception she utilized. therefore, as the director said, she’d be destroyed as in utterly damaged from worsening mental illnesses and in pain and this destruction will have aborned from within herself as she is the engineer of the anti-cruella persona.

all i can say is they better give my baby the happiness she deserves by the end meaning that they should write her to ultimately feel as though she doesn’t have to hide behind any personas anymore and can simply be herself: cruella de vil. a woman who isn’t always some ball of sunshine on the outside but is and has ALWAYS been an incredible person. someone who fights for justice unapologetically. a brilliant, creative woman who has and will continue to take the fashion world by storm. i want her to feel comfortable not having to put on a show of “sweetness” or one of a deplorable being to live in this society. her apprehension about this does NOT make her a bad person. she’s very rightfully afraid to be who she is because she knows society is cruel (“hello, cruel world”) and will misjudge her without even attempting to understand her but creating these personas are all just self-destructive measures that will do her more harm than good.

as a bit of a side note, the baroness could play into my aforementioned thoughts on cruella shedding her personas. cruella would of course need to show the public that the dogs are alive and well to prove that the evil persona was all fake. however, the baroness could complicate matters (after escaping jail given she still has a network of people who are loyal to her and just like her, they contribute to a corrupted justice system) by actually stealing the dogs and killing some of them, framing cruella and leading the world to believe that she’d lied and really was just a horrible person. if something like this were to happen, i’d hope that the truth would come out, that cruella’s name would be cleared, and that she could live happily and truly free from the confinements of living in the shadow of a fake version of herself.

cruella. deserves. to be HAPPY. the end.

cruella if you’re a good person vs her if you aren’t ✌️ as she should. made these avatars with hunbloom’s beautiful illustrations

will never be over how the baroness can throw an innocent woman off a cliff not once but TWICE (first she called the dogs on cruella’s mother and then pushed cruella herself who naturally didn’t deserve it either as all she’d done was try to get justice for everyone the baroness screwed over, primarily catherine), have her competitors KILLED so she can be “on top” (which really is the most psychopathic thing because when you kill all the competition, is it even a win? i think not), emotionally abuse everyone she comes into contact with, extort people, and attempt to have her daughter killed upon giving birth to her in hopes of keeping all the attention on herself and securing the baron’s fortune and cruella is “evil” for wanting her to pay for all that wrongdoing + seeing to it that she does? tells you all you need to know about society’s messed up “morals.” the only evil thing is thinking someone like that should be rewarded for their deplorable character with kindness.
