I posted this really late, but this is a birthday present for one of my dearest friend on the whole planet @thanatasia! This is her OC Fleur based on the Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance series, which holds a special place in her heart and I wanted to convey that in this image, I am also a big fan and I was extremely upset to have seen that the series was canceled on Netflix! But I’m sure the Henson company will find a way to continue it, they always have !
“Myrn is a renowned Elder living in the Dousan’s Wellspring. She is known as "Silver Face” by the Xerics she helped because of the tattoos covering her face. She has so many of them that it’s hard to tell her natural skin from the tattooed one, painted with one of the rarest pigments. How she obtained it is a mystery.
So’nan is also what we can call mysterious. Kind and gentle with his peers, he is quieter than a Dousan normally is and the scar on his ear reveals a troubled past. The clan knows that he is a retired Crystal Skimmer Pilot who is now Myrn’s assistant, but what they remember the most is the sound of the percussions he plays during their funerals, sounds that reminds them of the wind and the heartbeat of a Crystal Skimmer.“
I had these two drawn in a notebook for more than a year and I’ve never made an actual finished piece for them. So for Age of Resistance’s 2nd anniversary (on other social medias) and for @createforthra day 2, I’m finally posting them! I was more of a Skeksis fan with the movie, but the show made me love the Gelflings with the diversity of their cultures and clans. So I made Myrn and So’nan from my favorite clan (with the Sifas) the Dousans!
For AOR’s second anniversary and @createforthra , I’m posting the creature I made for the Center for Puppetry art! They organised a “Design your own creature” were you could submit your creation. Now my Sand Swimmer is displayed with other creatures in their current AOR exhibition!
“Sand Swimmers live in the Crystal Desert. They are rarely seen out of the sand, only their eyes and nose protruding from the surface when resting. They live in packs and when they are close together, their group of eyes forms an oasis of flowers in the middle of the desert. Dousans often call it “Eyeflower fields,” a source of wonder and danger.
Thanks to their four arms and spoon-like fingers, Sand Swimmers can easily roam in the desert depths like it was an ocean. They hunt at night, luring their victims living on the surface with their glowing eyes. But they need to be careful because their flower-like eyes are actually delicious, so they better eat their prey quickly before ending up blind!”
Ok look, I am team Gelfling all the way, but if people like the Skeksis and enjoy making their own Skeksis characters, headcanons, etc., then imma let them fucking be! It’s not that hard
Obviously the Skeksis are evil as all hell, but as many ppl have pointed it out, they’re fictional, as in not even real, you can do whatever you want with them so long as it’s not something super fucking inappropriate that you’re shoving down ppl’s throats and forcing them to agree with.
Just leave Skeksis fans alone. That’s all I’m gonna say.

I’m leaning a bit more towards the Gelflings and UrRus/Mystics lately, but I love you, Skeksis fans! The ones I know and who I’m friend with completely disagree with their actions and just love their horrible selfs. They’re just having fun with them because they’re fictional!
Personally I love the Skeksis because of their designs and how they are a satire of our real world villains. Caricatures and satires helps us to laugh at some of our real world problems or/and make us understand them better. It can actually be pretty healthy! In the other hand, I love the Gelflings because of their rich cultures and how I care about the characters or identify myself in some of them.
This is my main reasons for why I love both, but you can find many others. Both can be interesting! Also it’s okay if you hate the Skeksis or find the Gelflings boring. But leave the Gelflings vs Skeksis war to the show!
I’m pretty late to the game, but people are talking a lot about that video from Dreamfast With Me HERE lately and there’s posts on tumblr relaying it. But I want to make something clear: that’s not a big official announcement! The video is recent, yes, but the interview he is talking about is from December. Listen to it here
I watched the video and the interview clip he plays is what The Jim Henson Company has been saying for a long time, even before the cancellation announcement. So no new informations here in my opinion, only a confirmation that they are still in the same state as they were right after the cancellation.
I like to go back to that Lisa Henson interview from September 17 (less than a week before the cancellation went public) to know what really are the plans for Dark Crystal’s future and why the show is on a long hiatus. We are going through difficult times and they want to be reasonable. (You see how Lisa already knows Netflix’s decision and is subtly avoiding the question, but there are some interesting things here.)
The main issue I have with that YouTube video is how he talks about it as if it was the worst thing ever and seems to use Halle Stanford’s statement to vent and announce his own hiatus from the fandom.
But what Lisa and Halle said are pretty hopeful for me. They show how they still care about the franchise and I think we are so lucky for that! How many companies just drops a whole beloved franchise as if it was just another product? We have exhibitions right now, beautiful collector statues and a ballet next year. Halle announced that there will be more books, Lisa said that they will perhaps make a Creation Myths animated series/movie! And they still think about us, the fandom, they know we fell in love with these puppets, Halle even said that she knows we want more than books. If they are not doing anything now, they have certainly their reasons. I don’t know if the show was cancelled because of Covid, but it’s certainly what holds them from doing something like finding another platform: it’s not the right time. They can’t make puppeteer be close together in tight tiny spaces or inside a Skeksis costume. They need a long moment before considering making a huge thing like AOR again, and I’m personally ready to give them that time. I’m sure there will be more exciting things until then.

Louis Leterrier, Jeffrey Addiss and Will Matthews: Part 1/Part 2
They talk a lot about the idea of “passing the torch”, that their part of the story is done and it’s time to give it to new creators. They’re all heading up to their own projects and it would be hard to reunite all of them again if a season 2 happens.
I still have hope that we will see the end of that story in puppet form, but it certainly would not be as it was first planned, new talents would be behind it and a new vision would be added to our dark and grim Garthim Wars…
Here’s the backstory: SkekCati was captured, and the Skeksis experiment on him, resulting in him being transformed into a Gelfling permanently.. Because SkekCati wasn’t a part of the Castle Skeksis there was no point in controlling him. So they just literally chucked him out of the castle. Which means Cati has to learn how to be a Gelfling.
His name is Django, he was born and raised female but transitioned in his later years and fell in love with Cati. They have been together for years in my Au, and have two kids together.
