So’nan is also what we can call mysterious. Kind and gentle with his peers, he is quieter than a Dousan normally is and the scar on his ear reveals a troubled past. The clan knows that he is a retired Crystal Skimmer Pilot who is now Myrn’s assistant, but what they remember the most is the sound of the percussions he plays during their funerals, sounds that reminds them of the wind and the heartbeat of a Crystal Skimmer.“
I had these two drawn in a notebook for more than a year and I’ve never made an actual finished piece for them. So for Age of Resistance’s 2nd anniversary (on other social medias) and for @createforthra day 2, I’m finally posting them! I was more of a Skeksis fan with the movie, but the show made me love the Gelflings with the diversity of their cultures and clans. So I made Myrn and So’nan from my favorite clan (with the Sifas) the Dousans!
Ok look, I am team Gelfling all the way, but if people like the Skeksis and enjoy making their own Skeksis characters, headcanons, etc., then imma let them fucking be! It’s not that hard
Obviously the Skeksis are evil as all hell, but as many ppl have pointed it out, they’re fictional, as in not even real, you can do whatever you want with them so long as it’s not something super fucking inappropriate that you’re shoving down ppl’s throats and forcing them to agree with.
Just leave Skeksis fans alone. That’s all I’m gonna say.

I’m leaning a bit more towards the Gelflings and UrRus/Mystics lately, but I love you, Skeksis fans! The ones I know and who I’m friend with completely disagree with their actions and just love their horrible selfs. They’re just having fun with them because they’re fictional!
Personally I love the Skeksis because of their designs and how they are a satire of our real world villains. Caricatures and satires helps us to laugh at some of our real world problems or/and make us understand them better. It can actually be pretty healthy! In the other hand, I love the Gelflings because of their rich cultures and how I care about the characters or identify myself in some of them.
This is my main reasons for why I love both, but you can find many others. Both can be interesting! Also it’s okay if you hate the Skeksis or find the Gelflings boring. But leave the Gelflings vs Skeksis war to the show!
My participation to @thanatasia ‘s DTIYS (“Draw This in Your Style” for those who don’t know) featuring her amazing OC: Fleur! I didn’t know which style I would pick, something more realistic or stylised? Then I asked myself “How would she look like if she was an Age of Resistance puppet?” and I chose that idea.
If you haven’t read her fanfiction “When you follow the strange trails” HERE , you must be really confused! In this story, Deet has visions of possible futures and in one of them, Rian became that abomination made by SkekTek! In our discord server, we named this spooky boy “Knife Hands Rian”
Poor Rian, he can’t catch a break, even in alternative futures! But at least, he can’t lose his sword…

Did I have fun drawing this guy! The Dousan are my favorite clan. Feusus captured the Dousan fashion so perfectly well and I love both her Gelfling Ocs! All of her art is stunning and literally so professional looking and well rendered/designed. I have another drawing in the works and he’s definitely in it!

I always thought that if season two happens in a way or another, Rian would not witness someone he loves dying…again! It would be his turn to lose his life saving a loved one and of course, it would be for his precious Deet. In her vision, we can see Rian trying to restore the Crystal but it doesn’t work. Certainly because it’s not the Great Conjunction yet? In my theory, that attempt makes the Crystal save Deet from the Darkening consuming her, but Rian is very soon circled by the Skeksis and Deet can’t save him…
…Like what happens to Jen and Kira in the end of the movie. Their existence parallels Rian, Deet and the rest of the resistance. Jen is maybe a Stonegrot son, or Kira, but one thing is for sure: they are the hope that couldn’t exist without them, without their love for each other and for Thra. A love that ended up saving the Gelfling race.

The sketches I made in mid-2020. So’nan got his name and design very soon, I only changed his tattoos a bit. But Myrn was harder… You can see her old design here with the incense smokes on her hood! I didn’t like it! So my new inspiration was that Brian Froud sketch in the "Epic return to Thra” book:
I thought it was so cool, and I’m sure it’s how he sees the shamans. Also, those things on their hood… are these crystals from the desert? My mind went wild and I finally got a design for Myrn! Her name took A LOT longer to find, and my friends in the fandom helped me find the perfect one. So I want to thank them!

It is the last day of Stonegrot Week (Year 3!) and we’ve had such a wonderful time seeing all the phenomenal creations from The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance fandom. Thank you to everyone who participated, whether you have created a piece for the week or if you’ve been supporting the fans by reblogging/liking their posts. It means a lot to us and to The Dark Crystal fandom as a whole that we still care so deeply about these characters and its fictional universe. The celebration still continues as we will still be accepting late submissions after today until next week, October 3rd. Be sure to continue following this page… there may be a Stonegrot Week (Year 4!) in the future.
Just a reminder that it is acceptable to participate in a theme for Stonegrot Week a few days after the specific date has passed. Late submissions are acceptable. We understand creativity takes time. StartingMonday, September 20th — Sunday, September 26th 2021, Stonegrot Week (Year 3!) is designed to be a celebration and fun experience for Stonegrot (Rian and Deet from The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance) fans to submit fanfiction, artwork, headcanons, and anything related to Stonegrot and the week’s themes!
Let’s address this. Unfortunately, The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance was cancelled before we were able to see a second season. You never know though… The Dark Crystal film was released in 1982 and 37 years later, a prequel to the film in the form of a tv series— The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance was released on Netflix. One day we might be able to see new content on screen again or we may have to continue creating our own because it’s up to us, collectively as a fandom, to keep the love and support for The Dark Crystal alive. Always. Let’s be grateful for the one phenomenal season. Let’s celebrate its characters, specifically this beautiful relationship between the Gelflings Rian and Deet.
We want to make sure that this blog is safe for everyone to enjoy, therefore Stonegrot Week will NOT accept the following submissions:

Three years, and there are still many of us who continue to remain passionate and loyal to The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance. I’m so happy seeing all the positive reactions to this announcement. The artwork and fanfiction amaze me every single year… its absolutely beautiful. I can’t wait to see what will be created this time around.

TODAY’S THE DAY! In just a few hours I’m going to watch The Dark Crystal (1982) for the first time in theaters, for its 40th Anniversary!
This is very exciting to me, because I love The Dark Crystal, and of course The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance. I’m thankful for the joy and solace it’s brought to me especially in the low moments of my life when I needed comfort. I relate to these characters and I feel their pain and happiness through the screen. Their lives are full of trials and tribulations too.
