“Alien beast! Washes up on Texas beach!”

A globster is an mass of unidentifiable organic material, which has led to the creation of many cryptids. For example the St Augustine monster that was found in 1896 was a globster

Degreasing the mouse skull finally! It fell apart some but im hoping that its nothing some super glue can’t fix. her teeth are SOOO TINY.

I have a vulture culture question here

I have this raccoon skull in a soap bath to degrease it and I notice it’s tooth is looking really opaque. I haven’t done anything other than leave it outside to clean it off.

What’s up with that/should I be worried?

This big old armadillo skeleton washed up after a recent flood. Never used to have any around here but they’ve been moving further north in the last few years. Now they are all over the place!

Sadly I didn’t have anything big enough to carry him (always good to be extra cautious handling armadillo remains as they are known to carry leprosy; granted the very few cases of people contracting it from them were believed to be because they prepared and ate the armadillos but still good to be extra careful) but I’ll be heading back tomorrow to grab him if he’s still there.

Last weekend my family hit a hare on the road when it got dark, the poor thing went straight through the headlight and got stuck.

I took it home with me and cleaned it up a bit. I envisioned an umbilical cord attached to nature’s womb.

Worked on something today…

Dead animal warning!

Um so now she is a fox in socks bc I have had trouble finding all the little bones and bits when I bury, so my mom had the idea to put socks over her feet and head to try and keep them all together and make digging her out later a bit easier. Pretty goofy lookin tho.

So it’s every American vulture’s worst nightmare to find one of your favorite native birds as roadkill

I collected it anyways and (after a day or two of extended googling and awkward hemming and hawing) I emailed a guy at the science museum about accepting it as a donation.

So this morning I waited around in the science museum lobby holding a dead bird in a plastic bag while children and parents were milling around, trying to spot this guy who I only knew by name…

And then this older guy approaches and mutters under his breath ‘wonder if there’s a bird in there…’ and then wanders off again, so I had to say ‘I do, um, have a bird in here.’ And our conversation continued in this supremely awkward fashion for a couple minutes, in which I attempted to be friendly and ask questions like what other sorts of donations he gets, and he tried the entire time to just grab it and walk away.

GOOD TIMES

in all seriousness though, RIP gorgeous egret friend. I’m glad you found your way to someone who is legally allowed to appreciate your remains, and possibly use them for science.
