70 Years of Rock and Metal represented by 100 of the most popular and influential bands and artists; past, present and future. Each bar signifies the band’s active years from their first single to their break-up and the colour(s) represent the band’s genre(s). I’m sure there are plenty of bands that people think may or may not deserve to be on the list, but these are the acts I personally think represent all genres, decades and importance of Rock music.

1972. Captain Beyond

is the debut album by Captain Beyond, featuring former members of Iron Butterfly, Deep Purple, Johnny Winter, and Rick Derringer.  The album was dedicated to the memory of Duane Allman, who Captain Beyond drummer Bobby Caldwell had played with in an informal capacity.

Captain Beyond is unique among guitar-driven hard rock albums in that it contains a wide range of influences, including Latin and jazz, often with various time signatures and a broad range of dynamics within the same song.

Captain Beyond were one of those rock super groups. Musical Geniuses who came together from their own awesome bands to make an album of their collective ideas. great prog from some talented guys,  may not have heard of these days, but highly recommended!!!!

Highlights:  "Mesmerization Eclipse",  "Armworth", “Dancing Madly Backwards (On A Sea Of Air)”.

Rod Evans  Larry Reinhardt   Lee Dorman    Bobby Caldwell
