Bird Evolution sweatshirt

A fun pattern showing some of the stages in the evolution of non-avian theropod dinosaurs into full fletched birds. Can you spot the transition?

Coelurosauria > Maniraptora > Paraves > Eumaniraptora > Euavialae > Ornithothoraces > Aves.

made some dinosaurs on my phone recently to fend off insomnia! there’s some tweaks I would do if I wanted to print these or whatever, but I’m happy with them anyway!

Just popping in to add a little bit of the Cretaceous to your Jurassic June. Velociraptor learns why dancing in front of a Gobiconodon den is not a great idea.

Image description:
Digital artwork of a velociraptor shaking its tailfeathers in front of a gobiconodon nest. The nest is under a tiny sprouting ginkgo tree. While one gobiconodon tends little baby gobiconodons, the other takes aim for the velociraptor’s cloaca with its teeth.

What do we think of a new cover idea?

Forgive the awkward self portrait if you can. I didn’t have time to design my own Ms. Frizzle. (Who can compete with her, anyway!)

I’m glad we finally dropped chikensaurus rex, the idea that an animal of that size living in a relatively warm climate would be covered in 50cm feathers was just baffling to me (it might have had tufts or peach fuzz, but some illustrations really made him into a damn turkey). Not to mention that for a few large dinosaurs we have fossilized skin impressions and they clearly show a bumpy, scaly skin.

Small theropods very likely had feathers all over, but putting feathers on every single dinosaur was an edgelord move.
