#dwayne johnson
Lots fun! Big magical adventure! Great strong female lead for story with great new voice actress. Beautiful animation, especially lots water detail everywhere. Best Disney music, possibly best since Lion King, def better than Frozen, but Doge love anything with Lin-Manuel Miranda! Good competition for best animated movie oscar! 4 Paws up!
Emily Blunt and Dwayne Johnson’s “Ball and Chain” lands a deal with Netflix. The film will be produced by Emily making it the debut of her production company, Ledbury Productions. Dwayne will also produce under his production company, Seven Bucks Productions, with Dany Garcia and Hiram Garcia alongside Kevin Misher for Misher Films.
Dwayne Johnson and Emily Blunt are set to hit the screen together again in Superhero film “Ball and Chain”
Netflix is in talks to pick up the high-profile project that comes from ‘The Big Sick’ co-writer Emily V. Gordon.
After partnering on Disney’s The Jungle Cruise, Dwayne Johnson and Emily Blunt will reteam for a new movie from The Big Sick co-writer Emily V. Gordon.
The duo are attached to star in Ball and Chain, an adaptation of the '90s comic of the same name by Scott Lobdell, which Gordon will adapt. The project is being described as a superhero story meets Mr. and Mrs. Smith, where a couple struggling in their marriage are equipped with superpowers. However, their powers only work when they’re together.
The high-profile package was shopped around with interest from multiple studios, but is looking likely to land at Netflix. Still, no deals are done.
Johnson will produce under his Seven Bucks banner with Dany and Hiram Garcia. Kevin Misher, who worked with Johnson and Seven Bucks on Fighting With My Family, will also produce, along with Blunt.
Blunt and Johnson were set to hit theaters with The Jungle Cruise on July 24, but the release was pushed back a year by Disney due to theater closures amid the coronavirus pandemic. The studio will now open Mulan on July 24.
Johnson will next be seen in the Netflix action movie Red Notice opposite Gal Gadot and Ryan Reynolds. He is also set to star in the long-delayed DC feature Black Adam. The actor is repped by WME, TGC Management and Gang Tyre.
Blunt stars in A Quiet Place II, which was pushed to a September release after having to postpone its March theatrical debut due to coronavirus concerns. She is repped by CAA and Sloane Offer.
Gordon, who was Oscar-nominated for The Big Sick’s screenplay, most recently worked on the Amazon TV+ series Little America. She is repped by UTA and Schreck Rose.
Jungle Cruise has officially been pushed back a second time to July 30, 2021
In development since the early 2000s and formally announced in 2014, BLACK ADAM
is closer to the big screen with the release of its trailer.
With a release date of October, this film would go great with a chaser of Shazam! Fury of the Gods (release date December 16, 2022).
I didn’t see Marwan Kenzari (THE OLD GUARD, ALADDIN) in the teaser so I assumed his role is small. And who knows, maybe it is, but seeing him in Quintessa Swindell’s photo (Swindell with play Cyclone/Maxine Hunkel, granddaughter of Red Tornado), at least gives me hope that he has something substantive to do.
Pierce Brosnan, Noah Centineo, Allison Hodge and Kenzari.

-Set photos of BLUE BEETLE’s Xolo Maridueña.
-New image from director Todd Philips showing us that the JOKER sequel is, in fact, no joke.
Could the title be a hint to the storyline?
-You won’t have The Wonder Twins to kick around anymore. The proposed HBO Max film that would have starred KJ Apa (RIVERDALE) and Isabel May (1883). The reason being, sources say, is that new leadership under the merged Warner Bros. Discovery feels that they should be theatrical first minded, also the budget expected to be too much for what was considered niche characters.
-We Need to Talk About KevinThe Flash.
Rumours was that WB leadership met to discuss their Ezra Miller problem in light of the actor’s very public and very asinine behaviour that has gotten Miller arrested and hit with a restraining order.
There is no way WB will digitally replace Miller as some people thought would be a solution. Time will tell if Miller can get it together a year from now in time for the press tour for the film so that they won’t be a massive embarrassment. And if Miller doesn’t get their act together, we’re dealing with the multiverse, baby. There are other Flashes in other timelines.
Day Two of CinemaCon. From some attendees’ accounts it started out soft with Neon (who, along with A24, are holding down the indie ground that Annapurna Pictures had to vacate due to financial issues). Neon’s offerings?
- The full length trailer for David Cronenberg’s CRIMES OF THE FUTURE starring Viggo Mortensen (who has starred in four Cronenberg films. Mortensen returned the favour and cast Cronenberg in his directorial debut FALLING), Léa Seydoux and Kristen Stewart. The trailer will be released to the public next week ahead of its Cannes debut.
-Brett Morgen’s MOONAGE DAYDREAM which is a feature length tribute to David Bowie featuring concert footage and interviews.
-DocumentaryFIRE OF LOVE about married volcano scientists.
WB brought out their big guns -
No not the superhero films -Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson’s arms!
Johnson took center stage to promote his two projects: BLACK ADAM (whose trailer was shown) and DC LEAGUE OF SUPERPETS.
Other news:
-BATMAN returns….for THE BATMAN 2 with director Matt Reeves, RPattz and the other Gothamnites in tow.
THE NUN also gets the sequel treamen
As expected were teasers for THE FLASH, AQUAMAN AND THE LAST KINGDOM, SHAZAM! : THE FURY OF THE G-DS.
Logo for BLUE BEETLE starring COBRA KAI’s Xolo Maridueña.
BLUE BEETLE was to get the HBO Max treatment but WB decided for a theatrical release. Rumors is that they are pondering doing the same for their live-action BATGIRL.
Non-hero content was WONKA,
theSALEM’s LOT remake (produced by James Wan, going back to his horror roots) and Olivia Wilde’s DON’T WORRY DARLING.
A good portion of WB’s presentation was carved out for Baz Luhrmann’s ELVIS starring Austin Butler (who will be in DUNE 2) and Tom Hanks as Colonel Tom Parker.
Luhrmann who is behind electric and eclectic projects like STRICTLY BALLROOM, ROMEO +JULIET, MOULIN ROUGE and Netflix’s THE GET DOWN will hopefully bring the same pizzazz to ELVIS. If Doja Cat’s offering for the soundtrack (snippet) is any indication the film won’t be a paint-by-numbers biopic.
Also news of the release date of the live-action BARBIE film starring Margot Robbie,
Ryan Gosling, Will Ferrell, Simu Liu and Alexandria Shipp and others. BARBIE -written by Greta Gerwig and her partner Noah Baumbach and directed by Gerwig - drives her pink corvette to the theaters on July 21, 2023. BARBIE is conterprogrammed against Universal’s OPPENHEIMER which will be released the same day. OPPENHEIMER is Christopher Nolan’s first film with Universal after he defected from Warner Bros. after their direct to streaming debacle in 2021.
Universal/Blumhouse ended the evening with a screening of the film THE BLACK PHONE starring Ethan Hawke.
This is not Hawke’s first Blumhouse film -he starred in SINISTER and the first (and very different from the subsequent entries but no less great) THE PURGE.
Also out of Universal is news that Justin Lin has dropped out of directing the tenth FAST AND FURIOUS film FAST X. This was to be his sixth FAST film.
You’ve heard of Aristotle pronounced like Chipotle, now I bring you Dwanye ‘the rock’ Johnson pronounced like Kanye.
I completely missed the joke about him being the Rock, I just thought Medusa wouldn’t be able to turn him to stone because he’s too pure and good

i wish the people above a good day. i love and appreciate you and your singular braincell.
