Enjoyable… but predictable.

If this movie was given a higher age rating and a longer run time, it could’ve been much better.

ALL THE SPOILERS IN THE MULTIVERSE

DOCTOR STRANGE IN THE MULTIVERSE OF MADNESS

THE GOOD

-When Scott Derrickson stepped away from directing DOCTOR STRANGE IN THE MULTIVERSE OF MADNESS, the rumour was that he did so because Kevin Fiege didn’t like his idea of making the film “a no-holds-barred weird, gnarly, scary movie”. Obviously that wasn’t true because it really is a no-holds-barred, weird, gnarly and scary movie. It was obvious by the hiring of Sam Raimi that the film would hold on to those tenets because while people may associate him with his Spider-Man films, he’s known by a larger audience by his EVIL DEAD films and horror films like DARKMAN and DRAG ME TO HELL.

While this film still looks like a “Marvel” film most of the time, Raimi does lean into more visually arresting looks giving the film a 70’s horror feel; very Dario Argento at points.

-I managed to stay spoiler free for the most part but because being on Twitter you can’t help but see spoilery info spill across the timeline and using context clues I managed to figure out a few of the cameos before I saw the film, but the one thing I wasn’t spoiled on was that Wanda was the Big Bad! I really thought this film would serve to atone Wanda for WANDAVISION crimes, but in fact, it doubles down on how much the darkness has enveloped her. Olsen was great as the Scarlet Witch; a true formidable foe. And just coming off of MOON KNIGHT, I’m happy to see a good villain again.

-Love that Feige has seemingly come around to the Marvel series as the rumour was that he held no love for the ones that were on Netflix and ABC. So as great as it was to see Charlie Cox in NO WAY HOME, it was equally great to see Anson Mount as Black Bolt from the failed and greatly ridiculed INHUMANS.

-Nice that Sam Raimi brought in Bruce Campbell, Ash himself, for a small role -echoing his fight with himself scene from Evil Dead.

-Rachel McAdams and Benedict Cumberbatch has great chemistry and I would like to see one of the universe’s Christine actually work it out with Stephen.

-The beauty of having a film spiraling through the multiverse is that there are actual risks involved. Sure, we’ve had heroes die in Marvel films but it’s generally towards the end of their contract (Iron Man) or the end of a phase (Black Widow). The benefit of the multiverse is that you can create mass casualties of heroes and it’s thrilling because it’s shocking but it’s bearable because it’s of no consequence. Seeing Wanda lay waste to Mr. Fantastic, Peggy Carter’s Captain Carter, Lashana Lynch’s Captain Marvel and Black Bolt was wonderful.

Though her killing of Charles Xavier was too much. That hurt.

-Loved the idea that there’s a Charles in another universe with a soft spot for people others have given up on. He’s ever trying to find the good in someone. I just know in that universe he was playing checkers instead of chess with Magneto and still trying to keep him from committing genocide.

-Wong always coming through in the clutch.

-The Danny Elfman score, especially in the musical battle was outstanding.

-Give Michael Stuhlbarg one scene and he will still take it and make it amazing. He’s such a fine actor who can do so much with so little.

THE BAD

The tag “Doctor Strange will return”. Why? As good as this film in, I think Strange is better served in a smaller capacity as a guide in other films (helping Thor locate Odin, helping Peter in NO WAY HOME, now showing America her strength).

I suppose the next film could lead to some connection to ETERNALS and whatever they’re planning on doing with those characters, but that just shows how weak a character he is that they just can’t do stories centered around him. Or at least deal with him as a person outside of the magic wielding. I think Strange is more interesting when we get the sense of his regrets, which this film tapped into a bit.

But maybe we’ll see more humanity with him and Charlize Theron’s character in the next film.

- I don’t think they explained Wanda’s actions enough in this film. If you hadn’t seen WANDAVISION Wanda’s heel turn in this would be too insane. I think more explanation should have been given re: the loss of Vision and how it has led her down this dark road. Just making about the kids didn’t really jibe (does her sons not have powers in their universe? They should have been able to combat Wanda a bit). I don’t know why they couldn’t just insert a dream sequence where she’s recalling her argument with Vision from WANDAVISION on what she was doing to drive it home for those who hadn’t watched the series.

In development since the early 2000s and formally announced in 2014, BLACK ADAM

is closer to the big screen with the release of its trailer.

With a release date of October, this film would go great with a chaser of Shazam! Fury of the Gods (release date December 16, 2022).

I didn’t see Marwan Kenzari (THE OLD GUARD, ALADDIN) in the teaser so I assumed his role is small. And who knows, maybe it is, but seeing him in Quintessa Swindell’s photo (Swindell with play Cyclone/Maxine Hunkel, granddaughter of Red Tornado), at least gives me hope that he has something substantive to do.

Pierce Brosnan, Noah Centineo, Allison Hodge and Kenzari.

OTHER WB/DC FILMS

-BATGIRL wrapped in April.

Leslie Grace and her directors Adil El Arbi and Bilail Fallah.

WhoseMS. MARVEL has dropped on Disney+

-Set photos of BLUE BEETLE’s Xolo Maridueña.

-New image from director Todd Philips showing us that the JOKER sequel is, in fact, no joke.

Could the title be a hint to the storyline?

-You won’t have The Wonder Twins to kick around anymore. The proposed HBO Max film that would have starred KJ Apa (RIVERDALE) and Isabel May (1883). The reason being, sources say, is that new leadership under the merged Warner Bros. Discovery feels that they should be theatrical first minded, also the budget expected to be too much for what was considered niche characters.

-We Need to Talk About KevinThe Flash.

Rumours was that WB leadership met to discuss their Ezra Miller problem in light of the actor’s very public and very asinine behaviour that has gotten Miller arrested and hit with a restraining order.

There is no way WB will digitally replace Miller as some people thought would be a solution. Time will tell if Miller can get it together a year from now in time for the press tour for the film so that they won’t be a massive embarrassment. And if Miller doesn’t get their act together, we’re dealing with the multiverse, baby. There are other Flashes in other timelines.

Today kicked of CinemaCon - the national convention of theater owners. The event gives participating studios the chance to trot out their new wares for the same theater owners the studios are scr*wing over by reducing the theatrical window so greatly in order to drive up subscriptions to the studios’ streaming platforms.

Day One: A very interesting panel called “The French Reset”. The topic at hand is how the government and the film industry has reached an agreement to shrink the window for a film’s release to cable and streaming. What is so significant about this France’s 36 month window from theater to streaming/cable was the reason Netflix has battled to have their films shown at Cannes. When Netflix was first allowed to screen at Cannes, the film fest’s president was nearly ousted for letting it happen because their rule was that films shown have to agree to the wait out period and as Netflix’s model is direct streaming they would not agree with movie theater owners on the wait-out period. The new window is a year to 1 ½ years but this is still significantly less than before.

Later in the day will be an International Panel with Denis Villeneuve as one of the panelists, albeit virtually as he is doing pre-production on DUNE 2.

The first studio up is Sony (which doesn’t have a streamer so their films, over the next five years, will go directly to Netflix and then to Disney+/Hulu when that deals ends).

After showing a montage of their hit movies (even including MORBIUS which is the epitome of participation prize), patted itself on the back for SPIDER-MAN : NO WAY HOME racking in 1.9 billion dollars at box office they launched in to the panel.

What did the panel consist of?

-a 20-minutes of footage of David Leitch’s all-star BULLET TRAIN starring Brad Pitt, Sandra Bullock, Lady Gaga, Bad Bunny, Brian Tyree Henry, Aaron Taylor-Johnson and more.

-Video intro from producer Reese Witherspoon for WHERE THE CRAWDAD SING starring Daisy Edgar-Jones (FRESH) and Harris Dickinson (THE KING’S MAN).

-Footage of Sony’s sure-to-be Oscar bait Viola Davis film THE WOMAN KING, directed by Gina Prince-Blythewood (THE OLD GUARD).

-Announcement that Sony is developing another Spider-Man standalone; this one of anti-hero EL MUERTO starring Bad Bunny. The film is slated for a January 12, 2024 release.

-(Phil)Lord and (Chris) Miller showed a rough cut of the first 15 minutes of SPIDER-MAN: ACROSS THE SPIDER-VERSE (the threequel being SPIDER-MAN: BEYOND THE SPIDER-VERSE, to be released in 2024). They revealed that the film has 240 characters and the production employed a record making 1,000 people.

-Sizzle reel that contained footage from the Dakota Johnson fronted MADAME WEB, Aaron Taylor-Johnson’s KRAVEN THE HUNTER

and mentions of the sequels to GHOSTBUSTERS: AFTERLIFE and another VENOM.

I bet that at some point in your life you’ve thought that your family was weird, don’t worry you’re not the only one. Meet the Yamada’s!!

This is the ultimate family movie. When it started I thought ‘is this a thing for kids?’ Even though I watch movies made for children (child at heart <3) I was taken by surprise. It is nothing like any anime movie, Ghibli never cease to surprise me. No, it is not hand painted, the whole movie is made on computer and given water color effects.

It is a compilation of various incidents of the Yamada family. This is the story of a middle class Japanese family. What makes it special is its simplicity. The characters are well developed and you can’t help but smile at the quips. Shige, the grandmother is stubborn, wise and a little childish. The father Takashi is hard working and daydreams about taking a break. The mother Matsuko is a typical housewife, and every child can relate to her mom-hood! The siblings are great, Noboru, a teenage boy with witty remarks and his sister, sweet innocent Nonoko.

Sometimes the story gives us advice, sometimes it makes us laugh and sometimes it makes us emotional but it never bores you. You can understand the nature and personality of each of the characters, even the supporting characters in just 104 minutes. And the haikus just add to the charm of this movie.

fun fact #EmmaStone was first approached by PattyJenks for cheetah but she refused! That would have been awesome but kKristen wiig nailed it!! I would be happy 2 wait 4 WonderWoman1984 even if it delays to 2021 bcoz DCEU needs a billion dollars mark from this one!!

CW : Minor Spoilers for The Batman ( 2022 )

Guys remember that scene in the film where batman has to jump from top of the roof in a building when a few goons were chasing him and the only way for him to escape from them was to fucking jump from the BUILDING

the Entire fucking crowd in my cinemas were going mad shit crazyyyyy and were cheering for him and clapping , shouting and making noises and whistles and i too joined along with them when Batman finally jumps from the building with his Tech savy cape which was coooool and stylish as fuck the whole background score during this scene was amazing and the way Batman jumps is so dope and awesome and the crowd in my cinemas were now standing and making much much much more louder voice and cheering for him

THEN HE FUCKING CRASHES ON THE GROUND, BREAKS HIS FUCKING BONES , FRACTURES HIS HAND AND LEGS , THE HEAD GOT INJURED COZ OF THE FAILED LANDING AND HE JUST FUCKING FALLS ON THE GROUND and then Picks himself up and got up from that place where he fell very painfully and slowly

THE ENTIRE CROWD SAT BACK ON THEIR SEATS SILENTLY ….. THE CROWD WAS SO SILENT THAT I COULD FUCKING HEAR CRICKETS OUTSIDE THE HALL MAKING OUT AND THIS EXPERIENCE ALONE IS SOMETHING ELSE FOR ME I CAN NOT EVEN DESCRIBE IT … THAT IS A FUCKING CINEMA RIGHT THERE PERIOD !!!

And This scene alone describes the entire fucking film you might think maybe i am exaggerating or reaching but guys listen to me , This was Supposed to be a GREAT SUPER HERO LANDING, A COOL LAVISH AND STYLISH SCENE , THE AUDIENCE WERE SUPPOSED TO LOOSE THEIR SHIT AND MIND But look what happened ? just like that most of the audience expected a Nolan-esque high pacing Batman Film with cool and spectacular action sequences - a popcorn flick but in return to their suprise Matt Reeves gave us the neo-noir painfully slow pacing Detective year 2 arthouse Batman film … this is the reason why it got such mixed reviews from every where across the globe

This is the most Realistic Batman and batman film we are ever going to witness… like this is the fucking blue print
