#drawdinovember2018

LIVE

TwoDromaeosaurus fight over a small mammal found in the snow. The one on the right is way more concerned with the mammal than the fight and that’s probably a bad thing.

I’m pretty happy with this and the piece for yesterday for pulling a twofer.

Avimimus running over the tiny dunes. I like to imagine that music from The Lion King is playing over this. You know the one.

Also might go for a double post tonight and catch up with the days, which would be neat.

Anchiceratops at the watering hole with other Horseshoe Canyon Formation contemporaries, Pachyrhinosaurus canadensisandEdmontosaurus regalis.

I’m a little behind on my drawings as you may be able to tell, but it’s fine. I can probably catch up again before too long.

Dinovember Day 17: Bumblin’ Babies

A couple of baby Pelecanimimus inspired by excited baby emus. They hop around like little bipedal puppies when they get work up and it’s as great as it is potentially applicable to any dinosaurs.

Also why is Pelecanimimus’ name based on a pelican when they aren’t spelled the same way? It’s stupid.

Dinovember Day 16: Saved for a Rainy Day

Hypacrosaurus caught out in the rain. This feels super atmospheric and I like how the rain effects came out.

A strapping, young Gargoyleosaurus in pencil.

How great would it be if there was one of these guys left alive and it just hung out on a church roof all day? And altar boys would get sent up to feed it all sorts of greens. Sounds like a children’s book. I better get royalties for this.

Also, halfway done with DrawDinovember! :D

APrenoceratops with an infected ankle. Not a “cool” injury by any means, but probably one of the more unfortunate. Whether you’re predator or prey, a busted leg is really bad.

I decided to show some extra “phases” since I thought they looked good. Not sure if the red color on the ankle comes through, but it sure is swollen. Also, look at me uploading one of these pieces early in the day!

Eotyrannus is out for a walk when she turns her head abruptly behind her. She’s almost sure she heard something fall into the ferns not too far back…

I thought it would be cool to try this more angular vector-type style for the prompt today and (while kinda frustrating) was still fun. I actually really like this look, even if I may not be returning to it soon.

Hypsilophodon was just trying to take a look down into the ferns, and his bud here just went and pushed him off solely because

he a asshole.

Also I just found out Hypsilophodonhad little opposable pinkies which I think is adorable.

A landscape featuring Shantungosaurus. I’m obviously not great at landscapes and I got the Shantungosaurus in there real quick, but I feel like this still looks OK.

Gigantspinosaurus in a dynamic pose. I tried to get a lot of different angles going on with the spines and legs, so hopefully it looks the part.

I also somewhat enjoy that this dinosur sounds like a hybrid between GiganotosaurusandSpinosaurus but is actually some just some weird stegosaur from China.

Chilesaurus stripping some ferns for a hearty meal.

To anyone unfamiliar with dinosaurs wondering what exactly Chilesaurus is, don’t worry. No one really knows right now.

I don’t know if I went as speculative as I maybe could/should have for today’s prompt, but here’s a weird lookin Dicraeosaurus digging up a nest for a protein pick-up.

I didn’t want to go to crazy with colors or details since I could totally spend all day on each of these.

Buitreraptor gonzalezorum in some wonderful blue-green garb.

Wanted to give to some vivid colors that still fit its likely ecology, so I based the coloration on different species of heron. At least I believe piscivory is likely for dinos like AustroraptorandUnenlagia.

Muttaburrasaurus fluffs up the nest to ensure the wee babs are comfortable and warm. And is possibly eating some of it, but that’s besides the point.

JustTorvosaurus hanging out with his best friend The Lungfish. They’re having a great time. The legs are a bit long, but I think this is pretty good for an off-center front view.

Scelidosaurus finds a Kayentachelys hiding out in the shade. They better not get too close though. I got a feeling they’re both biters.

My 2018 Dinovember Powerball is finally over! Major props to everyone who decided to do this with me (basically @goldenchocoboand@sailorgojirarex1997 from what I can tell). Some fantastic art got made (some I never expected at least from myself given the prompts) so I’m hoping it was worth all the extra work it involved for everyone. Now I can finally relax a bit and go back to more periodic posts. Although that JP Palettes Parasaurolophus was like *that* close to being done before I decided to take this monster challenge on a whim, so that should be up soon. I hope everyone enjoyed seeing all this art and maybe I’ll do it again next year if I’m not really busy and ready to bring on such an undertaking again. Thanks!

Irritator comes upon a fellow fisher in a strange, foreign age. One who is either really oblivious or very laid back.

I really wanted to incorporate a dino into a real photo for this prompt and I feel like this came out pretty well. It’s like if Roger Rabbit had a Brazilian spinosaur in it.

The photo is not mine, it’s from this website: https://www.expeditionsalaska.com/

Saltasaurus goes for a swim in the ocean. Looking for some trees to munch and some parties to crash.
