It’s so annoying that while my body is taking the non-binary shape I always wanted, even when I didn’t know I wanted it, my voice still gets all soft and sweet when I talk in public like I was fucking socialized to do for decades as a pretty little girl. (And if you don’t think I was treated like a little girl even as a grown-ass married adult, I don’t know what world you’ve been living in and can I move there?)

And maybe it would be different if someone found that combination of shape and voice interesting and good about me, but I always just feel like I’m caving. I don’t want to go the hormone route, I don’t want to change my body, I just want to BE me.

In others, if it pleases them, I love the piling on of a mad, wild collection of (usually) gendered outward traits to get enby critical mass. For me, I just want to leave all the gender markers behind and be a floating brain in a jar so no one calls my old ass “young lady” ever again.
