AHAHAHAH a+ sandy. p sure stella is kanye shrugging somewhere too. literally the only person she would care about is vincent and we don’t have one so.
I’m pretty sure Sandy is just hoping the bombing took out some of the more bothersome people in his life. *cough* Rory *cough*

Day 28

Reflections on: Dark Skies(2013)

  • I mainly watched this because it stars Kerri Russell and I’m a fan of Felicity. Check it out hahaha
  • Kerri Russell and Josh Hamilton play the parents of two boys - one is the kid from Real Steel (2011). If you haven’t seen this movie it’s just Rocky (1976) with dancing robots.
  • This felt almost exactly like Poltergeist (1982) but with aliens instead of restless spirits and sadly none of the charm of the Spielberg movie. Yeah that’s right, I referred to Poltergeist as a Spielberg movie. What are you gonna do, Tobe Hooper?!
  • Just like in Poltergeist, the weird happenings begin in the kitchen with mysterious messes and condiment installations. At one point a TV even plays the American national anthem, as it does in Poltergeist, but with a wobbly vibrato effect on it - because apparently aliens make things sound wiggly!
  • The abduction elements were also very reminiscent of Close Enounters of the Third Kind (1977) and The X-Files. I love that kind of shit and find it genuinely freaky as I once woke up with mysterious bruises that I couldn’t explain! I want to believe, but alas, I am more of a Scully.
  • J.K. Simmons plays an alien expert with many cats and a silly hat. His resources look like they’re straight out of The International UFO Museum and Research Center in Roswell, New Mexico. If you ever get a chance to go there you absolutely must. It’s a delightful treasure trove of bizarre dioramas with the same production value as an elementary school science fair.
  • This looked incredibly bland - but I guess maybe that’s just what the suburbs can be like? Everything felt beige.
  • My favourite scenes were anything that included art that was supposed to be drawn by children. Always a treat.
  • You should probably just watch Poltergeist andFelicity instead! At the SAME TIME.

So finally, after who knows how long I’ve been talking about it, I finally went and took pictures in one of Savannah’s historic squares. First up?

Reynolds Square! It was the first one we could find parking for and it’s fitting for who came with me today.

The center statue is of a man named John Wesley who founded Methodism in the late 1770’s. Felicity couldn’t stop giggling at his big nose!

John Wesley lived just a block or two away from the square his statue stands. That’s where the second “rising” of Methodism was; in his wooden house and the garden where he read, prayed, and meditated. (The first was four guys he met at Oxford.)

We both really liked this quote they had on the side of his statue. “While we live, let us live in earnest.”

(My mom helped me get the picture by practicing her ability to balance a doll on her palm. It was entertaining.)

And of course, we had to stop at Leopold’s! Y’all, when I tell you that this is the best ice cream in Savannah, I mean it! There is almost always a 45 minute long line out the door! And the history behind it…. Ok, I’ll save it for it’s own post one day. It’s worth it! It was such a great afternoon out.

Here are the two signs that were posted in the square of you’d like to learn more!

Happy Birthday Felicity!

I saw this Ariel outfit when I bought Nanea’s and just had to get it as well. I knew it would look absolutely adorable on this birthday girl and I was right!

And the beach themed guest bedroom in my house was the perfect place to show it off! What do you guys think?

I saw the “Spring Has Sprung” photo challenge, and decided that since I have all my dolls packed up for a tornado warning we had two nights ago (we’re fine, no tornado near us, but it did hit a town over) that I was going to do a full blown photo shoot with all 7 of my girls. So without further ado…

We’ll start with Kieryn & Kirsten, who stopped to do a little work on our garden. Kirsten checked to see if the strawberry plants had taken root yet, while Kieryn put up some tomato cage trellises for our quick growing green beans!

While they did that, Felicity went over to check out our blueberry plants to see if any of the green berries had turned purple yet. Sure enough, she found the only one that has started to turn… and she made sure to claim it loud enough for everyone to hear!

Nanea begged me to show you our fairy garden, named Pixie Hollow, and to show you our state rocks. My mom and I camp a lot and my lovely mother has a habit of stealing large rocks for her garden. On our cross country road trip in 2020, she grabbed a rock from each state we visited and we now have them proudly displayed in our fairy garden. Nanea also just had to show you guys her favorite house and her favorite decoration we have out there.

Next we have Trevi, who is supposed to be doing her spring break homework with Molly but both of them were not having it on such a beautiful morning. Trevi decided to tend to her roses, while Molly gave me probably twenty reasons why I should let her practice her tap dance routine over doing her math.

Lastly, we have Willow who is in our home library catching up on some light reading of one of her favorite books, Earth Power: Techniques of Natural Magic by Scott Cunningham. Like her mother always says, her favorite quote from Roald Dahl, “…Above all, watch with glittering eye the whole world around you because the greatest secrets are always hidden in the most unlikely places.” Willow goes back to this book the most to find the best ways to let witchcraft and nature help with her anxiety and depression.
