Rose: …

Rose: Ironic, isn’t it? *Tasers Finn*

Finn: …Correction: looks like pure cinnamon roll, could prolly kill you.

So, just a quick comment:
Finn thought he was in love with Rey. Because she was amazing. Because they care for each other. Because they started together.
But then, in TLJ, Finn meets Rose. It’s not a instantly fascination. Rose already admires Finn. But that’s all. As the movie goes by, you see both of them softly falling in love.
They care about each other. They stand for each other.
What’s the difference, then?
Easy.
The glares.
Rey looks at Finn as a beloved friend but you SEE there isn’t a romantic tension.
And then we have Rose and she literaly saying “I love you.” And almost dying for him.
And only then, Finn notices it. That being in love and friendship are easy to confuse.
