Great Expectations wird auch so oft verfilmt, daß wir gar keine großen Erwartungen mehr hegen, und natürlich führt kein Weg an Martita Hunt als Miss Havisham vorbei. Diese 2012er Variante bietet die naheliegende Helena Bonham Carter, zudem Ralph Fiennes, Robbie Coltrane und einen Pip, der nicht nur erkennbar jünger als John Mills ist, sondern auch wirklich besser aussieht. Insofern ist es jetzt nicht ganz so unsinnig wie sagenwirmal Polanskis Oliver Twist.
