I hated Wierd Sisters’ lyrics in the movie. Every line they sing is about a magical creature. It seems to me that they wanted to make the song as magically enchanted as possible, but it was awful and histrionic.

I personally would have preferred it if the band would have been all women and not men…

I don’t think Voldemort ever trusted Snape as much as the fandom seems to think, even after he killed Dumbledore. Bellatrix somehow knew that Snape tried to prevent Voldemort from acquiring the Philosopher’s Stone, which is something nobody else knew. Voldemort didn’t mention that in GoF. The only other people who knew where Quirrell, who was dead, Harry, who she had no contact with, Snape, who wouldn’t tell her, and Voldemort, the only plausible option, who she is very close with and says he tells her everything. It makes sense for Voldemort to share his doubts about Snape with her, which means he himself doubted him even though he might have tried to convince himself otherwise because Snape was just so valuable. He also sent Wormtail to his house, who coincidentally enough tried to spy on Snape. Would Voldemort really send Wormtail to accommodate Snape? It was always obvious to me that he was a spy. In Deathly Hallows, Voldemort stared into Snape’s eyes and seemed satisfied after he gave him the information. Obviously legilimency, and he doesn’t do it when talking to other people. At this point he had killed Dumbledore, which should have been enough to prove his loyalty, yet he chose to use legilimency on him when he gave him information about Harry. There was no trust there, just Voldemort being unwilling to let go of his (possibly) most valuable servant at that time. I think he saw it as a gamble, and when the opportunity came with the Elder Wand he easily got rid of him.

The way Hermione is bashed on TikTok is just crazy. She’s called a pick me girl, toxic, abusive, a horrible friend, ect ect. Like everyone on that app thinks Hermione should be single and die alone bc she’s not good enough for Ron. Some people on TikTok like her but the majority despise her. And when they say that they hate her they just point out movie things. And it’s like a hate train. One person will say something negative about her and literally everyone will just blindly agree with them not even having a reason why.

I find it kinda amusing that Snape is the only character whose fans have actually made a fan name for themselves (Snovers and I’ve recently seen Homosnapiens too), as well as his dislikers (Snaters). Like I’m just thinking of what other characters would have as their fans/dislikers names… maybe Ronthusiasts (Ron+enthusiasts)? Hermollowers (Hermione+followers)? Voldynics (Voldemort+cynics)? Siriuskeptics? Now it’s made me want to make up these kind of names for all the characters lmao.

When Harry, Ron and Hermione are camping in DH, there’s the debate about food where Hermione has to explain that it’s impossible to make food appear out of nowhere. She then mentions that it is possible to increase the quantity of food. A few pages prior to this, they obtain eggs and bread from a farm. Young me was always confused as to why they didn’t just increase the quantities of the eggs and bread and live off that (although I now realise the food frustration was there to drive the story).

I hate reading Marauders era fanfiction where people downplay how much Peter was involved with the other Marauders. I don’t care what you make his personality out to be, but just straight up abandoning him as a character is a pet peeve of mine. It isn’t the end of the world but it gets annoying, especially when the betrayal is also written in. It makes me feel so much more when I see him develop as a character and his downfall into becoming a death-eater.

I re-read the books recently and when I got to the end of DH after Harry views Snape’s memory and realizes he’s a horcrux and will need to die to truly defeat Voldemort, I was absolutely heartbroken reading that entire scene. The last time I read the books was awhile ago and so the heaviness of that scene never truly got to me but now that I’m older and can really process the sheer depression Harry felt in that moment, that scene made me want to cry. Harry realizes that he will never see his best friends again, he will never see his love again, he will never get to step inside Hogwarts again. Obviously he does survive but Harry didn’t know that then. And I think it’s an interesting contrast from before (primarily in OOTP) when Harry was always sort of in the mindset of being ready to die versus in DH when he realizes he HAS to die to save his friends and realizing deep down that he’s not ready and wants to live.

Umbridge is one of my favourite characters. Not in an “I think she was right” or “her actions were justifiable” way (I’m not gonna pretend that she wasn’t an awful, abusive tyrant), and I think a lot of the hate she receives isn’t undeserved. But I really like the way that she reflects so many ‘real life villains’, and since so many of the other villains in the series are portrayed as 'dark scary edgy’ characters, I thought her character was refreshing. I guess you could say I love to hate her.

I understand why some people may not like Cursed Child, and I myself have some issues with it despite it being canon, and people can criticise it all they want, HOWEVER, Delphi is not one of its faults. I have seen countless arguments and theories against her and every single one, and when I say every single one I say it with all my heart, has been so weak, easily debunkable and poorly thought out that sometimes I wonder if people are forcing themselves out of pressure to dislike everything about CC even when there isn’t anything to hate about that particular element. All of people’s arguments against her are speculations or headcanons.

I love Helena Bonham Carter and I love the idea of her playing a book accurate Bellatrix. She was the best actress for the part imo, since she can embody every facet of the multifaceted Bellatrix very well. However, I hate how the films portrayed Bella. They took one facet of hers, then exaggerated it to the maximum, and turned her more into a female Greyback instead of book Bellatrix. Both in appearance and the characterisation. I must say wasting HBC’s potential like that is the biggest missed opportunity and disgrace of the films, followed only by their portrayal of Voldemort. Even movie Ron and Ginny are better written than movie Bellatrix and Voldemort.

Honestly, Draco really didn’t have a choice. I know a lot of people call bs on that, saying just because he “didn’t have a choice” doesn’t mean his racist and classist comments get swept under, which I completely agree with. But when you think into his life, he was born before Harry, meaning he was born in a time where Lord Voldemort was in his reign of power with Lucius by his side. He was already expected to be in his fathers footsteps, with him being born a pure blood, a male, and with the secured inheritance of the Malfoy house. Yes, he said some unacceptable things that color him as a horrible person, and even wishing violence and death on his peers he didn’t like. That is disgusting behavior, behavior he did to try to paint a pureblood image of himself. And as we see him being fully enamored in the dark world as he becomes an older teenager, we see him experiencing the true violence purebloods have towards the “dirty blooded.” We see him in his mental breakdown of having to complete a task given to him personally by the Dark Lord, because his father is now deemed “useless” by the Dark Lord himself. We see him in a position he obviously doesn’t want to do, but is in ties because this what he is supposed to do, this is what purebloods do, this is what all of his family does. It was basically his world, and he felt horrible in it. This is why I greatly like how he matured, avoiding putting his son in the world he grew up in, and stopping his ways from his childhood. Anyways, thank you for indulging in my rant.

Lyall Lupin hated werewolves, yet his own surname was (oddly) Lupin, and since werewolves are shown to have wolfy names in HP I have a headcanon that Remus’s grandfather was also a werewolf (we know from Teddy Lupin that werewolves’ children do not inherit the condition) and Lyall either faced abuse from him or because of him by his peers and other people who hated werewolves, so he started hating werewolves. I also headcanon that Remus himself had daddy issues because of this, and his first name was suggested by a naming seer (Naming seers are seers some people go to in order to get name suggestions for their babies according to Rowling). On that note, I also think Bellatrix’s name was from a naming seer.

I think Hermione could’ve pursued Potions professionally. In canon she’s skilled in the subject - she successfully brews Polyjuice Potion (a notably complicated potion) during her second year, gets an O in her Potions O.W.L, and during her 6th year she was still doing very well in the class. Even though she was sceptical of any non-official instructions (see her reaction to Harry using the HBP’s book), had she gotten over that and learned to experiment a bit more she could’ve gone far I think.

I don’t like it when fanfics or the fandom in general make Remus out to be the smartest one of the Marauders, and make Sirius & James struggle in school. The last two were said to be extremely clever students multiple times, even Remus himself calls them the most clever students during their time. I think it takes away a lot from their characters to give one of their known positive traits away completely to Remus, who already is the more responsible and kind one during their school years.
