From what I’ve seen from the fanfics, fanarts, and fan edits, I feel like a lot of people don’t realize that Voldemort is like +20 years older than Bellatrix, Snape, the Marauders, etc. I’ve seen a lot of fancast where they’re the same age and it bothers me. I know the movies didn’t help since they portrayed that generations as much older with their casting choices but Voldemort was older than McGonagall.

Dumbledore would have been a better protagonist than Newt. We were robbed.

I hate how people behave about the house you identify with. I’ve taken the quiz on Pottermore a few times now and I’ve always gotten different houses. The first time was Ravenclaw, then Slytherin. I’ve also taken the “full Pottermore” quiz where you answer all the questions and I’ve gotten mostly Slytherin then Ravenclaw and then Hufflepuff; and while I am proud to be in anyone of those houses, I’ve stopped telling people which one I actually think I’m in because they all scoff and say that im nothing like that house, or I don’t have those qualities. It’d be nice if for once someone would say yeah I could see it, or just say cool and move on. Why do we have to be jerks about it?

One of my favorite fancasts of a character is Jim Carrey in Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind as Remus Lupin. He’s lanky, has a bit longer hair and his clothes look like something Remus would generally wear. His expressions also look like Remus - he looks self-deprecating, depressed but also has this kind face like Remus. He also looks older than he might actually be but he doesn’t look too old. I just think he looks much more like Remus than Andrew Garfield (no hate to him, but imo he’s too pretty and too perfect to be Remus)

I’m probably the only one that like it but I really loved the dress/suit Ron was wearing at the Yule Ball. It was peculiar and made him different from the others.

When I first saw the Deathly Hallows cover as a kid, I thought it said Deathly Halloween!

I wish I could go back to shipping Harry and Hermione like I used to. Unfortunately the shippers have all but ruined it for me. I know not all Harmony shippers are toxic but I’ve had nothing but bad experiences. Every time I try to defend Ron I would get shut down. I’m so tired of seeing the merciless bashing of Ron and severely downplaying his importance in the books. I feel so uncomfortable whenever they try to claim he is emotionally abusive to Hermione and that he’s based off her ex husband. I never saw Harry and Hermione as having anything romantic going on in the books but I love their friendship and thought it was a good foundation to turn into something more. I just feel so out of place around the Harmony fandom even though we all love the same ship. I tried to make it work on here and discord but it’s gotten to the point where I simply can’t enjoy the ship anymore. It’s too closely associated with the toxicity I experienced and it makes me really sad. The trio’s friendship is one of the best parts about HP and I don’t like seeing Ron get so much hate even though I think Harry was ultimately a better fit for Hermione. Romione shippers aren’t much better with their extreme bashing of Hermione as a kind of revenge for all the hate Ron gets. I wish the ship wars would end because both sides have unintentionally ruined their ship through their behavior and endless bashing.

I love Harry Potter but I hate what the fandom has become. Harry Potter fans always argue about everything. Even in this confession blog there are people in the comments section who act in a rude way. Ship whoever you want and love whatever character you want but don’t pretend other people like what you like. Every person is different and has different opinions.

Evanna Lynch is one of the two child actors who acted well in the movies (the other being Tom Felton) but I have always thought she was too pretty for Luna, and is the main reason Luna gets so much love. In the books Luna is supposed to be much crazier with her conspiracy theories. And she looked like an owl with dirty blonde hair, not a pretty blonde shade. Her eyes are supposed to be weird, white-ish and not blue. However, I would say that her voice was perfect, and even Rowling says Luna is the only character for which she took inspiration from the films when writing them because of Evanna’s voice.

People ship Harry and Ron and Ginny and Luna which is cool and all, but why hasn’t anyone thought of Hermione and Cho? Think about it, her feeling jealous of Harry and Cho’s relationship in the 5th book and her “accidentally” ruining their date. I really wish there was more fanfics about them. Romione owns my heart, but in the 6th book where Ron was dating Lavender, I wish Hermione would’ve got with Cho.

Mads is gonna kill it as Grindelwald, but I’m still sad we lost Depp, he did a good job in CoG and didn’t deserve to be fired. I was so excited for a Depp / Law Grindeldore reunion. We were robbed of what I believe would have been an amazing and a powerful performance between the two.

I always found Filch weird and creepy. He’s a sadist and enjoys punishing students, wishing they could go back to hanging kids by their wrists for days, begged Dumbledore to let him hang kids from the ceiling by their ankles, even keeps the chains oiled in his office just in case.

I’m so grateful we didn’t get a Snape-is-Harry’s-dad plot twist!

I wonder what the process of creating art would be like in the wizarding world, where paintings are alive and sentient. At what point does that happen? When you decide a painting is complete? Or do they move around during the sketch stage and you have to beg them to stay still long enough to draw in the details? If you doodle a stick figure on a scrap of paper and throw it away, what happens? It’d be neat if there was a magical art class offered at Hogwarts that explained stuff like this. (I guess all of Hogwarts’ extracurricular funding must go towards Quiddich though.)

No matter how many years it’s been or how many arguments it’s had, I will personally never forgive Ron for leaving Harry and Hermione behind in the forest. It doesn’t matter if he was wearing the necklace or not, it’s the more selfish thing he’s done. And this is after Harry told him outright that things were going to be rough. Finding the Horcruxes was not an easy task and Ron shouldn’t have abandoned them. They could have died without him.

While HP is far from being perfect, I think many of the problems with the series could be explained by the fact that it IS a series of kids books written 20-15 years ago, and probably wasn’t meant to be gone over with a fine-toothed comb years after the fact, that nobody knew at the beginning would have blown up the way it did. Both from story/plothole perspectives and from the perspective of certain things aging rather poorly in hindsight (sure 20 years isn’t a SUPER long time but there’s no denying that a lot of social change and increase in awareness has occurred in that time. This is not a defense of the author’s current antics but only the text within itself.)

I wonder if Peeves is related to Mr. Mxyzptlk, who bothers Superman.
