Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows / J.K. Rowling

—————————————————————

I have always enjoyed the Harry Potter series, but this book is definitely the saddest of them all, but also the most inspiring. Too many of the characters die, including my favourite- Fred Weasley! The film misses out quite a few parts but it also adds in bits that aren’t from the film. 5/5

✨ Even when home is lost, it is never forgotten✨

Exams are over so I’ll be able to art more often :)

This is so random but at the same time it’s actually not at all.

  • Would any of you read a Harry Potter fanfic? Written by me, planned by my, following the canon HP movie andbook universe? About one of the Weasley twins? Sirius Black’s daughter that’s a Malfoy? And Slytherin?

Let me explain what I have in mind. As cliché as it sounds, I need you guys to believe in me andmy abilities. I have long since wanted to write a Sirius Black daughter story. Not the usual jazz though. I want her to be a Malfoy. Raised alongside Draco, first in the row to collect her mark with You-Know-Who (does she want it?idkidkidk) and babied by my quin Cissy. She doesn’t leap into her father’s arms, she’s stoic and proud, intelligent and responsible (no crazy shananigans here nonoNO we’ve got a Malfoy kid on our hands!).

I literally have NO IDEAS only like 6 scenes I wrote throughout the last few days. Many more are to come I’m sure of it! Keep in mind that I amre-reading the books and re-watching all the movies which will be putting me in a spot this Christmas where I will be obsessed with HP!!! Free time and inspiration = fanfiction

Idek. It’s something that I’ve been wanting to do for a while. Hell, since I was 12 years old. Might just be the time to do it. What do you think?

I’ll be tagging those on my HP tag list for obvious reason such as WHAT DO YOU THINK? My ask is available too.

The Harry Potter Series

by J.K. Rowling

I have never posted about the seven-book magical phenomenon because I suppose I assumed that implicit in being a reader is having read Harry Potter and the (insert item here), perhaps even multiple times.

I just spent the last month rereading the series, finishing, all too appropriately, on July 31st, the birthday of our reluctant hero.  Considering Rowling started writing them in 1990, with The Sorcerer’s Stone published in 1997 and the final installment, The Deathly Hallows, published in 2007, they hold up incredibly well over the past, oh, 20 years.  I read each book as it was released originally, have seen the films dozens of times, and still, rereading them, I was fully immersed in Rowling’s unparalleled world-building, character-crafting and plot twists.

These books are simply a joy to read.

And don’t be fooled if you are one of the hold-out adults from the series. The prose has a lot of integrity and is peppered with sage advice without being dogmatic.

And for those of you out there who have only seen the films, bibliophiles may always say this, but the books are still better. As well-cast and excellently-imagined as the films are, they cannot compare with the specificity and magic of the books. There are, indeed, whole plot lines and characters left out of the films - bits of information, I, too, forgot from my initial reads.

So, if you want a highly satisfying and swift read, incant, “AccioThe Sorcerer’s Stone!” After all, books are the closest to magic muggles like us can hope for.

When Harry, Ron and Hermione are camping in DH, there’s the debate about food where Hermione has to explain that it’s impossible to make food appear out of nowhere. She then mentions that it is possible to increase the quantity of food. A few pages prior to this, they obtain eggs and bread from a farm. Young me was always confused as to why they didn’t just increase the quantities of the eggs and bread and live off that (although I now realise the food frustration was there to drive the story).

I re-read the books recently and when I got to the end of DH after Harry views Snape’s memory and realizes he’s a horcrux and will need to die to truly defeat Voldemort, I was absolutely heartbroken reading that entire scene. The last time I read the books was awhile ago and so the heaviness of that scene never truly got to me but now that I’m older and can really process the sheer depression Harry felt in that moment, that scene made me want to cry. Harry realizes that he will never see his best friends again, he will never see his love again, he will never get to step inside Hogwarts again. Obviously he does survive but Harry didn’t know that then. And I think it’s an interesting contrast from before (primarily in OOTP) when Harry was always sort of in the mindset of being ready to die versus in DH when he realizes he HAS to die to save his friends and realizing deep down that he’s not ready and wants to live.

No matter how many years it’s been or how many arguments it’s had, I will personally never forgive Ron for leaving Harry and Hermione behind in the forest. It doesn’t matter if he was wearing the necklace or not, it’s the more selfish thing he’s done. And this is after Harry told him outright that things were going to be rough. Finding the Horcruxes was not an easy task and Ron shouldn’t have abandoned them. They could have died without him.
