A fairy tale of the Witcher and the Prince!
No, there is no story here, only my drawings, sorry to disappoint you. :,)
So I draw our favorite assholes again, and this time in the aesthetics of East Asia. I’ve always wanted to draw something with such elements, but also in a fairy-tale atmosphere. If you are interested in how this illustration was created step by step, you can see it under the cut!
It all started with finding the right reference to the pose. Under this link, you can see the illustration I was inspired by, unfortunately I was not able to find its original source, so please forgive me for the link to pinterest. If you have information about the author of the illustrations, I will be happy if you share this information as I would like to include it here.
I’m obviously not as talented as the author of the original, but I had a lot of fun sketching and adding more elements to the composition.
It turned out that flowers caused a lot of problems, because I wanted a certain symbolism, but unfortunately I don’t know anything about flowers. Kiyan’s flowers were initially supposed to be moon flowers, but it turned out that I cannot express their beauty in the drawing and I also found a new reference to other flowers, so modifying them several times resulted in a kind of hybrid of both.
With flowers for Adrien, I just went to ask someone smarter than me. And so @gavilansblogand@akilah12902gave me the idea to use hibiscus and after our brainstorming it turned out to be the perfect flower for Adrien. And luckily, I was even able to draw it!
Lineart is always tricky to me and always changes the look of the original sketch a bit. The drawing loses its delicacy, the lines sit quite heavy in the drawing, and it always makes me a bit sad. This is obviously a necessary step in coloring, but the realization that the lineart is of lower quality than the original sketch is always frustrating to me.
Coloring is the coolest part as long as you know what colors you want to use. For clothes, I knew - for some reason, right from the start, my default color palette for Kiyan was blue/navy blue and silver, and for Adrien it was black, gold and red. The flowers just had to match this aesthetic. But the background… the background was the problem. Initially, I tried to make it quite bright and neutral, because it seemed to me that this drawing already has so many details, I should not disturb it with an overly expressive background. But the bright background came out flat and boring.
So again I asked people smarter than me who advised me to use a darker green background. And this is how we got the end result.

Organic green tea, olive leaves and hibiscus! Amazingly simple blend, you get that rich hibiscus taste right after the green tea silky taste, followed by the scene from the olive leaves. Pure lush.

The Roofie Blend- dedicated to my mate Arion Oates (aka Rufus Hicks)
The blend consists of the following ingredients:
- Hibiscus
- Apple
- Orange Peel
- Elderberry
- Black Berry Leaves
- Blueberry
- Raspberry
- Strawberry
- Red Currant
- Cinnamon
- Ginger
- Cloves
- Cardamon
- Fennel
- Jasmine Flowers
- Pepper
- Rich Black tea
This is a very complicated blend, and in my opinion one of my riskiest. It has a floral, yet fruity scent to it and the taste, just…intense. It’s a mix of spice and sweetness, a floral explosion that literally sends you flying into outer space…and that was the intentions behind this particular blend. Sweet and spicy enough to get you interested, with a subtle fruity/flowery taste to drown out the noise created by the spicy punch. I tend not to risk mixing fruity ingredients with spicy ones for fear of it just tasting like an awkward mess, but i’m pleasantly surprised at how refined this awkward mess turned out to be.

Hibiscus tiliaceus is a widespread member of the mallow family commonly found by beaches as its many sea-inclusive common names suggest. Native through Oceania and South Asia, the plant has now become naturalized throughout he world, including the tropical Americas. There is some dispute about whether it is truly a Hawaiian native plant or whether it was introduced by early settlers who used the plant extensively for its buoyant wood. It also provides fiber from which ropes were made, corky bark which sealed cracks, and parts of the plant can be used to treat fevers and as food. The Hawaiian name for it, hau, appears quite often in contemporary naming for businesses and streets.
H. tiliaceus is one of the very few [sort of] native plants I was able to find and recognize among all the multitudes of introduced species. It was growing alongside a large Thespesia populnea, Ipomea pes-caprae, I. obscura, Abutilon grandifolium, and quite a few clumps of Vitex rotundifolia. It is certainly possible that being close to a coastal rode, the plants were deliberately placed, but even if so, the choice of using natives is to be commended.
The pollen from this species was especially bright, and upon reviewing my photos at full size, I could not only make out the shape of the pollen, but a pronounced contrast of some on the stigma. Where many have the fluorescent coloration and intensity of fresh pollen from the anthers, quite a few are dimmer and blue rather than green. I have two guesses about this. My first thought is that the blue pollen are hollow shells – just the capsule left behind after germination. My second thought is that they are pollen grains from a different species.
If anyone has any insight into which is more likely, I’d love to hear your thoughts as this is something that has been often on my mind for the last 6 months!

hibiscus….brought a couple of healthy hibiscus plants in the house this past fall, and it’s been great to have them bloom occasionally this winter(didn’t expect any blooms, just hoped to winter them over until spring)

Started this piece on Teresa before the pandemic. It survived lots of time in the sun, and still looked great when we added the final 2 flowers to it! We may schedule one final visit this fall to blend the old stuff with the new stuff if we need to.
