Modern Christians are so weak. Earlier this afternoon I mentioned to my mom that I was wanting a skull tattoo and she said “oh that’s disgusting and satanic. Christians don’t associate with skulls.”

Ok besides the fact that half of Christians wear metal depictions of a man being executed, Christians historically have always been strange and macabre. It’s sort of what comes out of a religion that claims to eat the flesh and drink the blood of a God who was dead for three days.

Look at this church. Normal, right?

No. This is a church literally decorated entirely with human bones. Here’s the chandelier:

It’s called the Sedlec Ossuary, located in Kutna Hora, Czechia and is adorned with the bones of an estimated 40,000-70,000 people. (They weren’t killed for this purpose, but were dug up from their Graves.)

Imagine taking the Eucharist here, eating Christ’s body and drinking Christ’s blood, while staring eye-to-empty-eye-socket at a real human skull. Horrifying.

That cross on the wall has 17 skulls. Seventeen human heads. That’s metal as fuck.

So, how to be macabre?

What the- they actually have bones as decor!?

DECEMBER 6 - NINA TANDON

Nina Tandon, CEO and cofounder of EpiBone, is revolutionizing medicine. Her company is the first in the world to use a patient’s stem cells to grow human bone that can then be used to repair bone defects like bone loss.

Ideally, these bones can be grown to the exact shape and size needed and are easily implanted into the body because they are made from the patient’s own cells. Tandon was named a TED senior fellow last year and she’s also one of Business Insider’s “40 under 40: People to watch in 2015.”

Text for today’s post was taken from the Business Insider piece “The 15 Most Amazing Women In Science Today”. Read even more about Nina and her company in the publication’s November 2014 profile here.

Some Good My Gentle Master for God’s Sake, acrylic on canvas, 2019

Source: Three skulls showing the effects of leprosy (middle images). Title references the text above a medieval illumination of a leper holding a bell (bottom image).

Lepers weren’t stigmatized in medieval Europe, and in fact were held in high regard. Their suffering on earth guaranteed them a place in heaven without having to spend time in purgatory first. The reason they were pictured with bells was because the disease affected the vocal chords which made speaking difficult. The bell was used for communication, not as a warning.

Second piece of “Marrow”, the name I gave to the bone/fungus series, in progress. More pieces to come!

Work in progress: one of a series revolving around bones/fungus. At this stage I’m pushing in the colors & fighting the black, where the highlights & color saturation has to be emphasized.

Our first full-length ‘Eradication of Nescience’ is finally being revealed in its intended format: a 12" gatefold vinyl with a 12" sized 12 page booklet. There is one regular black vinyl version and another 'parchment’ coloured vinyl version. First copies of both versions will be accompanied with a consecrated necromantic incense, produced in conspiracy with Occult Sabbath & RITUS. The incense is to be burned on a coal while experiencing the sonic adversarialism of 'Eradication of Nescience’. The incense contains tobacco, myrrh, sandalwood, dragon’s blood, dammar, wormwood, sulphur and powdered human bone.
