i wonder if people saying this have actually watched the trial happening right now or if they’re just talking out their asses because they think feminism means women can do no wrong

I’m bothered by the discussion around Amber Heard revolving around the notion that “bisexuality doesn’t justify violence”. Not because it’s untrue, but because it’s superficial.

The real issue here is that women are punished by patriarchy for being bisexual. That our bisexuality is perceived as such a threat to cishet masculinity that physical violence seems an appropriate response to it. That women’s bisexuality is a punishable crime.

This whole discussion demonstrates the power dynamics around women’s bisexuality and the depth of sapphobia (misogyny against bi women) in society. The terms of the discussion should move beyond apologetics (i.e. we don’t deserve this) and into in-depth explorations of why this violence is perceived as acceptable.

Day 15.

• Heard says: “He would pass out, and get sick, and lose control of himself. And people would find him, and fix him up… I would take pictures to document it”.
  
• Amber Heard describes a press trip to Tokyo, Japan, for Johnny Depp’s film The Lone Ranger in July 2013. During this time he called her a “nagging b****”, and other awful things, she says - adding “I don’t think they need to be repeated here”.
  
• She says when she first arrived to LA she was in the habit of sending back half her paycheck to support her family, and so her independence was very important to her.She says Depp would tell her: “You don’t have to work kid, I will take care of you, my woman doesn’t have to work.”
• Amber Heard is describing the moment Johnny Depp proposed to her on a press trip to London. 
• JD said relationship would be off if she went to concert.
  
• She says one day Depp “didn’t come home” and says this was because he had been drinking and taking drugs in a hotel room with Bettany. When he finally came home, he had to be physically brought into the house, she says. She tells the court: “One of the security carried Johnny in like a baby.”
  
• She goes on to describe Lily-Rose having “a crush” on an “adult male musician” who she says was “over 18”. She says he spent the night at the house, and that “I felt concerned”.She also says she was troubled by Depp’s “introduction of the weed with his daughter, she was so young… I made him angry by weighing in on that”.
  
• Heard seems less than complimentary about Ms James, and says they “had minimal person to person interaction”. She also alleges she “regularly drank on the job and stuff like that… her behaviour was horrible”
• We now jump to February/March 2016, and discussion of a pre-nuptial agreement. “He told me the only way out of this is death,” she says.She also says he took it as an insult, asking her: “Kid, are you already planning on leaving?”
• Met gala 2014, “He threw a bottle at me - it missed me but hit and broke the chandelier. Johnny and I were in a struggle on the sofa… He was much heavier than me… Then he just whacked me in the face… I suspected I had a broken nose… I remember my nose being swollen, discoloured, red.” Amber took a photo of it. • “He hated - HATED - James Franco - and was already accusing me of kinda secretly having a ‘thing’ with him in my past since we had done [the film] Pineapple Express with him,” she says. (plane Boston, 2014);
• Heard says: “He was being really explicit about my body, saying really disgusting things about how much I liked it. He said ‘I know you liked it’. He called me a go-getter, a s***. Also, this was happening in front of his assistants and his security on the plane. I struggle to tell you how embarrassed I was he was saying this all in front of him.“She says he kept asking her "if I liked it and I was wet”.
  
• She says: “My back is turned to him, I feel this boot in my back. He just kicked me in my back. I fell to the floor, and it felt like I was looking at the floor of the plane for a long time.”
  
• Text messages between Stephen Deuters and Amber Heard: He was  appalled. When I told him he kicked you, he cried. (JD team objected to submitting them).

Day 15.

• Amber Heard says Johnny Depp was very remorseful after the Boston to LA private plane trip. She says: “He came to New York to fight for me, to fight to the relationship.(right after Boston plane incident May 2014)
  
• “He said he was embarrassed and sorry, and I believed him, so I got back with him on the condition that he would do the full clean up, the detox, and never go back.”
• Depp went to Bahamas 2014 for the detox. Amber was also there.
  
• She says his emotions “were up, down, mood” at that time, and she was trying her best to “roll with it… Taking his blood pressure… Taking care of him”.She says he would sometimes want to have sex a lot, which she adds “was not like Johnny”. She goes on to describe a moment when he “was shaking and screaming” while trying to upturn a table, but says thankfully it was screwed to the ground. She says at other times he was calm and peaceful.She says there was a point “where he got so angry with me he slapped me across the face, but while crying… He said no woman had ever made him feel like that”.
• JD to AH’s mum: ’‘Never a second has gone by that she didn’t look out for me or have eyes on me to make sure that I was okay. I would not be alive. It was Amber and Amber only who got me through it.’’ (unfortunately, the text messages weren’t showed bc it’s hearsay.)
• Heard says at this period: “Johnny was angry with me for working… he was furious at me. He found ‘sides’ [pages of script for an audition] and he blew up at me. He said I didn’t ask him, and because he didn’t know about the audition that I hadn’t done yet, that I was hiding it. I ended up not doing that audition. I believe there were several auditions at the time that I didn’t do…”
  
• Amber Heard now talks about a meeting that was set up with a sci-fi writer called Clive Barker in December 2014. She says Mr Barker wanted to work on a project with her. She says this caused issues with Depp, who accused her of wanting to sleep with the author.Heard says that this led to violence and argument between them, saying of Depp: “He takes it too far, hits me too hard, breaks something in the house and leaves… He just split.” She says he “never had to deal with the clean up… or my face”.She says at the time she tried to placate Depp, because: “I didn’t want him to think I was this slut he said I was all the time.”
• We are shown an email exchange between Depp and Heard about her meeting with Mr Barker in which Depp writes: “Agony is never the answer to any equation or occasion. Nor is rage… Please know, that my apology is sincere and solid… And, as stupid as it sounds, I hope your meeting with Clive Barker is excellent!!!”In another email Depp apologises again, writing: “I’m sorry… for my behaviour… I’m a f****** savage… The Devil is All Around, right…??” He also refers to himself a “lunatic”. Heard says these words are all to describe what the couple dubbed “the monster” - Depp’s bad behaviour when drunk or taking drugs.
• Amber Heard now describes a trip to Tokyo with Johnny Depp on 25 January 2015. Heard tells the court: “I didn’t have a fair shot. I wasn’t looking at him… I was walking away from him… I didn’t see it coming and he wrestled me down to the ground. He was screaming at me, really screaming loud…"He at one point put his knee on my back… And I had this struggle with him. And I look at him, and he’s still got his sunglasses on, and I’m just thinking, 'He looks like he’s not gone through anything…’. He’s screaming at me that he hated me, that it was over, that he didn’t want to marry me and that he was disgusted that he made this mistake and that everyone hated me. I remember crying on the floor. More than anything I was heartbroken… It broke my heart, I wanted to marry him so bad, this was the man I loved. Yes, it was awful at times, but I loved him. What he said hurt just as bad as anything else.
