Djehuty (Thoth) seemed the perfect name to represent the first card in this deck.
Energy, Passion, Speed, Activity, News, Messages
He’s depicted in flight carrying with him his message. Quick, and knowledgeable He may come to us suddenly and unexpected. Djehuty is a name with many aspects, and this one that comes swift on beating wings.

-Jackal Wrs / Wos / Was Scepter-
This King comes indeed, an imperishable spirit, adorned with Anubis on the neck, who presides over the Western Height.
This is a Wrs scepter / Wos scepter because of the jackal head. WAs scepters were symbolistic objects “held by gods to show Their authority, Their power, or Their strength, or a combination of all three. There are was-scepters that were occasionally used by kings; a number of them were buried in the tomb of Nisut Tutankhamen for example. Usually however this is a strictly ceremonial object.”

Nut can be a patient name. Great in her love and protection. She is the expanse of the sky above, a part of life and death. She takes unto her the Akh and places them amongst the stars within her. She is a great warmth and comfort, and creating her here was a great joy for me.
This particular piece wanted to have the soft tones of a sunset and the eternally beauty of the aurora borealis. They wash the sky and touch the stars with their vibrancy, and embrace Nut in the eternal wonder and warmth of this world.

-Oracle Cards (1)-
This has been a project I’ve been toying with for some time. And one that will take awhile to see to the end. I started with the Bennu as a symbol of creation, and the piece that starts the creation of this deck. Its call helps to determine the form the deck will take, and is a personal symbol of my own that I hold dear.
I should be creating 1-2 cards a week. And will post them on here once I feel they are established and set. The final cards will be printed with gold accents, and those versions you can see on my Patron as I work on them.

Here’s a throwback to a piece I created earlier this summer. I wanted to recreate some of intricacies of pieces from antiquity, the soaring falcon with the shen in its claws was a huge inspiration. I didn’t know at the time what Name this would be meant for, but another member of the house who is now His owner knew exactly who it was meant to be for.

From my personal collection of work, I’m offering up this ooak sculpture of Set. He is often gracious to me in being the subject of my experiments in style, and both my successes and failures as such. It took six months to figure out how to finish this one, but this weekend, I did.

prayer submissions please! hello! I am MerytRa. An independent recon revivalist kemetic. I am asking the kemetic community on here for any if the prayers they wrote. I am compiling prayers for a mini pocket prayer book that will be available online for free when it is complete. You will be credited for your prayer. prayers relating to everyday life struggles such as love, protection, peace etc are preferable, but hymns are welcome too. a majority of the hymns will be directly from translations of funerary literature and stelae. if at all possible, try to keep overly specific prayers to a minimum, a general healing prayer would be preferable to a prayer for healing IBS. please send me a message or reblog this with your submission! make sure to include how you would like to be credited!
By burning incense in the sanctuary, the room smells like the divine sphere and is thus a suitable place for divine manifestation. Similarly, by shrouding himself in incense, the priest becomes god-like and thus fit to enter the divine presence. Egyptian wordplay demonstrates this reality, as “burning ‘incense’ (sntr) for the god could ‘deify’ (sntri) the king.

Though not wholly about Egyptian gods and temples, there are nonetheless a couple of solid chapters in this book about both and I liked this quote about the whyof burning incense.
