Kemetic Lenormand Card (2) Clover

Bes was an instant fit with The Clover card!

Luck, Lightheartedness, Small Happinesses, Opportunity, Being Untroubled, Comedy

Did you know Bes is a patron of children? It was said that if a baby smiled and laughed for no reason or without prompting, it was Bes making faces at them. Though He may not have the same popularity today as He did in antiquity, He’s not one to overlook.

Kemetic Lenormand Card (1) The Rider

Djehuty (Thoth) seemed the perfect name to represent the first card in this deck.

Energy, Passion, Speed, Activity, News, Messages

He’s depicted in flight carrying with him his message. Quick, and knowledgeable He may come to us suddenly and unexpected. Djehuty is a name with many aspects, and this one that comes swift on beating wings.

-Pocket Goddess Nut-

O Great Lady, who did come into being in the sky, who are mighty.
Who does make happy, and does fill every place (or being), with your beauty,
The whole earth is under you, you have taken possession of it.
You have encompassed the earth, everything is in your two hands,
-excerpt from hymn to Nut in pyramid texts.

Nut can be a patient name. Great in her love and protection. She is the expanse of the sky above, a part of life and death. She takes unto her the Akh and places them amongst the stars within her. She is a great warmth and comfort, and creating her here was a great joy for me.

This particular piece wanted to have the soft tones of a sunset and the eternally beauty of the aurora borealis. They wash the sky and touch the stars with their vibrancy, and embrace Nut in the eternal wonder and warmth of this world.

She’s for sale on my etsy.

-Oracle Cards (1)-

This has been a project I’ve been toying with for some time. And one that will take awhile to see to the end. I started with the Bennu as a symbol of creation, and the piece that starts the creation of this deck. Its call helps to determine the form the deck will take, and is a personal symbol of my own that I hold dear.

I should be creating 1-2 cards a week. And will post them on here once I feel they are established and set. The final cards will be printed with gold accents, and those versions you can see on my Patron as I work on them.

-Painted Heru / Sokar / Falcon-

Here’s a throwback to a piece I created earlier this summer. I wanted to recreate some of intricacies of pieces from antiquity, the soaring falcon with the shen in its claws was a huge inspiration. I didn’t know at the time what Name this would be meant for, but another member of the house who is now His owner knew exactly who it was meant to be for.

Did you all know I started a Patron?

Doing so is a way to help me and Tamiwi create more of the devotional pieces you all have been so supportive on. And help us to make even more projects we’ve been dying to start.

Check it out.

I’ll still be putting up my finished pieces here for you all, but if you want a bit more content, consistency, and input on my work, please join me there.

Always,

-Sha-Beast of Set Painting-

Homage to you Set, Lord of the Northern Sky, who resides beyond the Imperishable Stars. O Powerful-of-Forefoot, may you stretch forth your arm to let Ap/ep fall! Advance, O far striding Master of the Seven Stars. May your powerful face be gracious to me. May you establish a crown upon my head like the Disk upon the head of Ra, and give to me all life, and strength, and health.

(Modified from) Eternal Egypt - Richard Riedy

Set has always been a name that comes to me when change is required. Not easy change usually. It can be in difficult times, in growth or in destruction. He doesn’t open doors for me, he takes the door down and removes it from this reality.

I started this piece because I had an urge to try my hand at painting on a wood board. Painting and drawing like this have been hobbies that I left behind many years ago, so it’s an old friend to rediscover them. And funny enough, the moment that I finished, a door was removed from a problem I’d been facing and opened up solutions that are honestly a huge relief for us financially and mentally.

It’s still not easy, but the way is there. As is His way always.

-Woodburning Ma’at-

I come to you as Djehuty, my two hands joined together under Ma’at. She comes to be with you, for she is everywhere. You are provided with Ma’at. You move in Ma’at. You live in Ma’at. She fills your body. She rests in your head. She makes her seat upon your brow. The breath of your body is of Ma’at, your heart does live in Ma’at. All that you eat, all you drink, all that you breathe is of Ma’at. Djehuty presents Ma’at to you, his two hands are upon her beauty before your face.

Did you all know we do other things than sculptures? My Reverend Future-wife and I sometimes get to collaborate on pieces. This is one of them. I sketch, she does the beautiful wood burning. I paint and stained the accents on this.

Ma’at is balance, truth, and order. She is not good nor evil, but the one who balances us all. Both the fertile land, and the desert beyond. We strive to uphold her principles. To live a life and act lighter than Her feather on the scale.

She’s on the Etsy now:

-Moon Ibis Djehuty / Thoth Pocket God-

O you Netjeru in heaven, O you netjeru on Earth!

You Southerners, Northerners, Westerners, Easterners

come and behold Djehuty, how He shines forth in His crown

which the two lords in Hermopolis have set in place for Him,

in  order that He may execute the governance of mankind.

Exalt in the Hall of Geb over what He has done! Adore Him,

extol Him, give Him praise. He is the Lord of Kindliness, the

leader of the entire multitude!

-School boys notes (BM#5656 – 18th dynasty)

Djehuty is a complex and interesting Name. One I’ve always respected and admired for his knowledge and negotiating powers. He is a balancer, the one who helps to ensure Ma'at. He is in this piece the ibis of wisdom, writing, speech and law, and a perfect addition to any practice or shrine.

And yes! He does glow in the dark!

You can get a resin cast version of Him on my etsy now!

-Upcoming Sculpts-

I know you all are itching for some new sculptures. So let me reassure you, they are coming! Keep your eyes peeled at the end of this weekend for some updated works.

But in the meantime, have some concept sketches for (3) of the Names who are finally getting done.

All the threads of opportunity that wind along my path,

This little guy has already found His home, but creating Him opened up something for me, as Wepwawet is aught to do. Him, and Yinepu (Anubis) can and are a different kind of strength and comfort than other Names I’ve worked with in the past. And it’s taken me till now to realize that I had made this for another House member only a few days before my Mother-in-law passed away.

We lovingly term Him “Star Jackal” because of the immensity of Him. He’s an older, wise, kingly aspect of Wepwawet, and one that seems to have infinite patience. He sees the paths we are on, and He walks that path with us.

While this Amulet has already found a home, I post others regularly in my Etsy.

This statue evokes the intimacy of Memi and his companion, Sabu, although she is set somewhat apart by her oblique gaze.
Until recently, the flowering of nonroyal statuary was believed to have occurred only in the Fifth and Sixth Dynasties. Recent studies indicate, however, that many of these nonroyal statues, including Memi and Sabu, are better dated to the Fourth Dynasty, contemporary with the great royal statuary programs. The early date for Memi and Sabu is based both on her coiffure and on the reciprocated embrace.
