Kemetic Lenormand Card (2) Clover

Bes was an instant fit with The Clover card!

Luck, Lightheartedness, Small Happinesses, Opportunity, Being Untroubled, Comedy

Did you know Bes is a patron of children? It was said that if a baby smiled and laughed for no reason or without prompting, it was Bes making faces at them. Though He may not have the same popularity today as He did in antiquity, He’s not one to overlook.

Pick a Pile: Your Aura

Disclaimer: None of these images are mine!! If I am using your photo and you don’t like it please message me for credit or removal.

This is for entertainment purposes only, take everything said with a grain of salt.

  • Close your eyes, take a few deep breaths, then let yourself observe each pile. Choose whichever one you feel drawn to the most, you can choose multiple if you’d like however I would not recommend picking more than 2. It is also possible none of these piles are for you!! Take what resonates; leave what doesn’t.

Pile 1

Tw: Mentions of Trauma, Drugs, Addiction, and Sex.

The feeling I got when getting into this reading is very.. scary? Very terrifying but in a comforting way, theres this comfort that comes with the fear. I feel like a lot of you have gone through some really traumatic situations, things out of this world, things so bad that people doubt you when you tell them this thing/s happened. Whatever happened really brought you down emotionally, and I feel this thing affected/affects you so intensely that you’ve become numb to the pain, because that’s the only way you could survive. Possibly you even find comfort in it as suggested by the first part of this reading. You give off a very low yet intense vibration. People can definitely pick up on your presence, they notice this darkness to you and how low you’ve felt. I wouldn’t say this is something people adore and love about you but also nobody really dislikes or hates you for it, most people are neutral on this and don’t really care.

Some of you may struggle with or have struggled with an addiction, specifically a drug addiction. I’m also getting something about a sex addiction or being hypersexual, some may just perceive you as hypersexual or people may sexualize and/or objectify you often. Some of you also have depression or an other mental illness.

Your aura definitely has black in it, most of you have red in it as well as white. Some of you may also have blue or white with blue undertones.

Specific combinations I got: Black, red and white. Black and white. Black and red.

Things of significance:

Mirrors, hiding in a bathroom during a party, speed/snow, Virgo, Gemini, 6th House, 3rd House, drugs/being high, 2nd Hand - Chin Up, Kid, Pain - Three Days Grace

Pile 2

Tw: Mentions of Drugs, Alcohol, and Addiction.

Ooo ooh so starting off I got a message that some of you blurt out random things, you may make random noises and at random times, or you say things that don’t really make sense. Some of you don’t put a lot of thought into what you say and just ramble on about things when you don’t even know what you’re talking about yourself.

Okay I have some very specific messages so this is only for a few of you but similar to pile 1 I’m getting that some of you struggle with a drug or even alcohol addiction and this can be the reason you say weird things and can be unaware of what you’re saying, even what other people are saying too. Another specific message I got is that you hear a lot of incoherent voices. You may work around a lot of people, live with a lot of people, or go out a lot so it’s hard to make out everything being said. Some of you may be on the schizophrenia spectrum or hallucinate which is why you hear these incoherent voices.

Overall I’m getting something about incoherent or unusual speech.

Pile 2’s aura generally consists of white and brown. Some of you have a combination of white and brown while others have a lean towards white or brown. Some of you have an aura that is very saturated and dark, intense, potent. The rest of you still have a dark aura but the darkness is muted leaving it sort of muddy looking, like a sketch that has yet to be shaded or outlined. If your aura has a white lean it’s likely the 2nd one, I’m also getting that the whiter auras in pile 2 have some greys but not much black.

Things of significance:

Near death experience, hospital, ER, Virgo, Leo, someone has a dog or a significant bond with a dog, The Departure - Falling in Reverse

Pile 3

Pile 3 is a pretty chill pile. You may be a bit detached or aloof, or at least you come across that way. Very nonchalant, calm, you’re not the type to make a big scene over something little. Maybe you can become reactive, a little dramatic, and emotional when something hits you hard, when something makes you feel deeply… but other than that you’re really chill. If you like to gossip you’re really good at keeping it lowkey because most people would assume you’re kept to yourself and prefer to focus on more important issues. You give off a very calm, logical, and serious vibe. You’re not overly serious but just serious enough to get what matters done, you can definitely joke around and have fun. I feel like even though you come across as serious and hardworking you may actually have a problem with procrastination and not sticking to your plans/ideas. You could be a bit indecisive or switch up a lot, a few of you are prone to boredom and absolutely despise it.

Some of you are into witchcraft and/or spirituality. If you’re a witch I feel like you’re a really good one, you’re good with using your energy and you know not to do things you’re not 100% sure of when it comes to your craft. I got a specific message that one or a few of you run a tiktok page dedicated to witchcraft or things of a spiritual nature. Also someone has a page where they talk a bit much about being a stoner No but seriously some of you are on tiktok too much please go outside even if it’s just for a few minutes, get some fresh air, look at the nature, enjoy yourself just existing in the moment.

For your aura color I immediately got purple, some of you have this black-purple ombre. Others of you have a pretty basic aura, many of you have one color but the shade shifts often. Specific colors I got were blue, green, and yellow. Some of you have multiple colors but they go together very well, for example opposite colors like red and green or purple and yellow. Or even colors next to each other like pink-purple-blue or red-orange-yellow. I feel like your aura changes a lot, there isn’t really one specific look and you guys are rather versatile.

Things of significance:

Scorpio, Aquarius, Aries, socks, bunnies, bunny socks, bunny hat, thigh highs, bunny themed social media, bunny themed aesthetic, ashes, leaving offerings for deities/ancestors

Pile 4

Pile 4 you’re very playful. I do see you joke around a lot and many things you say aren’t very serious. You’re like a walking meme. You definitely have your serious moments but overall you’re pretty funny and know how to joke around. Some of you are really loud or talkative, something about you is extreme, eccentric. This could be the way you dress, the way you talk, the music you listen to, maybe you have a specific feature that stands out on your face or body. You might have unusual interests or interests that are seen as weird. You could be a bit naive or childish, you come across as very positive and cheerful.

Some of you really like that soft, sweet, pastel aesthetic. You like to come across as cutesy and adorable, or you like your social media to. Someone in pile 4 really loves their dog omg also many of you like frogs. Cats, zebras, or giraffes may be significant.

Your aura color is a very vivid blue, even if it’s darker it has this otherworldly brightness and color to it. Some of you have yellow added to the blue too. Others of you have a pink aura, very vivid and the way the colors pop is almost impossible to explain in words. very ethereal.

Things of significance:

Autumn/fall, black square glasses, BTS, Taehyung from BTS, Kpop, Alicia, James, Esdia, asparagus??, pizza, pizza shop, All Dogs Go To Heaven - PRXJEK, No - BTS

PRACTICING LENORMAND WITH PLAYING CARDS!

in an effort to start trying to learn lenormand since i love all sorts of card based divination ( tarot, oracle, and cartomancy ) i started using an app recommended by @lovecharms(seventh sphere if anyone’s interested ! ). however, i always find it hard to connect with digital decks in the same way. while playing around with the app though i realized that each lenormand card has a unique correspondence to a traditional playing card which means you can actually do a lenormand reading with them ! all you need is the six through ace of each suit and you’re all set. i didn’t, however, wish to keep flipping back to the app itself to check which car i was looking at and what it meant so i created a bit of a cheat sheet which i thought i’d share !

abrinael:

Hi ya’ll.

I’m currently in a Lenormand course so if you want a free reading - just leave me an ask!

I’m also working full time and stuffs so please keep in mind:

  • It may take me 5 days to respond. I’ll try to be fast. But I want to be honest with you. I’m learning in my spare time.
  • I prefer to give action-oriented readings. I’m not big on “When will X happen?” questions.
  • I look at lenormand as an empowerment tool…but it can’t tell you what to do. We all have to make our own decisions.

I hope this all makes sense!

So, I don’t know if anyone would be interested, but in addition to this language blog and my poetry blog, I’m learning Lenormand and I’m offering free readings.

In case there are any overlaps I thought I’d let ya’ll know.

coffeeandtarot:“House” means…house? So here’s the thing about interpretation with any divination meth

coffeeandtarot:

“House” means…house?

So here’s the thing about interpretation with any divination method: it’s all about synthesizing. What do I mean by that? I mean that coming up with an interpretation requires (1) understanding all the elements that come together to (2) create an answer that (3) makes sense within the context of the reading.

In Lenormand, these elements are:

  • The individual card meanings,
  • The positive, negative, or neutral orientations of the cards,
  • The specific situation and question being addressed,
  • How the cards combine meanings, and
  • The person being read for.

For this week, we’re going to focus on the individual card meanings, their orientations, and how they address different situations. Why? Because I want us to start learning how to shift the card meanings to address the question as early as possible. Next week’s posts will focus on how to ask clear questions, how to read cards in combination, and practice 2-card Quick N’ Dirty readings (thanks, arcanemysteries!).

This week, however, we’re going to work on three foundational pieces:

  1. Learning the numbers, names, meanings and vibes of the cards
  2. Assigning our own personal keywords to each card, and
  3. Applying those keywords to different situations.

Notes on reading Tarot vs. Lenny

First things first: one of the key differences between tarot and Lenormand is that tarot is visual, Lenormand is verbal. When you read tarot, you don’t just rely on the standard meanings of the cards - you look at the image, see how it interacts with images on the other cards, suss out additional meanings based on the specific symbols on the card, and so on. Because of this, the same card from two different decks can mean vastly different things depending on what the artist included in the image. Pretty fucking awesome, IMO! It allows for some lovely variations in personalities between decks and gives tarot readers the opportunity to learn and focus on different aspects of the card meanings.

Lenormand don’t play that though, because Lenny operates via key words. It doesn’t matter how the artist drew the card or what symbols they added to it; the cards will always mean the same thing across decks. As long as you know that the card is The Rider or The Sun or Fox, you have the meanings. The additional pretties don’t matter. The card interpretations can and do shift based on the situations being addressed, how they combine with other cards, and the questions being asked, but they still rely on those essential meanings. And those meanings don’t change based on the card image across decks.

The list of card names and meanings I’ve included here pretty much comes from Donna Leigh’s post here. They’re general one-card meanings and are easy to boil down to a few simple key words. If you have the ability to check out Rana George’s The Essential Lenormand, she takes a slightly different tack to organizing the card meanings and provides a lot more options for exploring them in chart format. I’ve included the card orientations in this list as well - that comes from Rana. If you’re doing yes/no questions, orientation really helps figure out the answer to the question!

Here, Have Your Card Meanings

Thanks, Donna Leigh and Rana George!

1. Rider (neutral): messages, moving along, happens quickly, transportation but without an engine (Ship card has a motor), horseback riding, lover who moves through quickly

36. Cross (negative): burden, sacrifice, martyr, oppression, spiritual, fate, oppression, metaphoric “cross on your back.”

*A note on the gendered cards: Lenormand, the traditional system it is, relies on the Western gender binary. It also assumes heterosexuality. I dislike that so. damn. much. Some newer decks have additional man & women cards, which allows for readings on same-sex relationships. That rocks like whoa. However, I have yet to run into a deck that has a non-gendered Person card (child isn’t really gendered, but it doesn’t indicate an adult, so…). If I ever get around to putting together my own deck, you best believe it will have Person, Man, and Woman. Because fuck the binary. I’d like to be represented in my divination systems too!

(yes, I dohave Crowley level feelings about that)

TL;DR
Tarot is a visual divination system whereas Lenormand is a verbal divination system. Keywords make the world go ‘round when it comes to learning Lenny. Check out the meanings listed above and see if you can distill them down even further - our first activity this week will be creating our own personal list of keywords!

The five card spread is typical in Lenormand and works well in terms of the sentence-like reading style. The middle card acts as the significator card, so you can either draw cards randomly and the card that falls in that space is the central theme, or you can shuffle and then find the significator card within the deck and draw the two cards in front of and the two cards behind in order to get your spread. The significator does not need to be a card that represents you or the one asking the question–in fact I never read like this–I pick the significator based on the content of the question being asked. So, for Lenormand, love questions I seek the heart or the ring based on the context, but with Tarot you can use The Lovers, or Two of Cups, etc. as the significator.

For those already comfortable with Lenormand, the next steps should be easy. For those who have never read Lenormand, single card draws are rarely done, or if they are, they give you minimal information. Cards are usually drawn in pairs and the one card modifies or flavors the context of the other. I say sentence-like reading style because you can think of it as subject+modifier/noun+adjective, etc. When it comes to multiple card draws, it follows like a sentence/additional sentences–noun+verb+adjective, noun+verb+adverb, etc.

So in reading the first card plus the second card, the first card is the subject and it is being modified or flavored by the second card. In the example reading above, you have The Moon + The Priestess. The Moon is the subject, so you would pull out a noun from the keywords for that card, e.g. mystery, unknown, dream, madness, unconscious, symbol, illusion. The Priestess is the modifier so you would pull out adjectives from the keywords of the card, e.g. intuitive, mysterious, emotional, clairvoyant, perceptive, insightful, sensitive, innate. Then you combine the two. Examples of this could include:

Mysterious unknown. Emotional madness. Clairvoyant symbol. Perceptive dream. Insightful illusion.

In the five card spread, you pull out pairs and string together their meanings to construct a narrative. Here I break down the example card pull.

1+2: The Moon + The Priestess = Emotional madness.
1+3: The Moon + The Devil = Oppressive madness.
2+4: The Priestess + 6 of Cups Rx = Immediate emotions.
3+5: The Devil + The Empress Rx = Restrained oppression.
4+5: 6 of Cups Rx + The Empress Rx = Restrained (to) present.

Then you string together to create the narrative. So in this example, you have:

Emotionally overwhelming times (emotional madness, oppressive madness). In order to stabilize the situation (restrained oppression), dwelling in the past or on the future needs to be limited (Immediate emotions, restrained to present).

For people used to doing very in-depth readings using Tarot, this might seem really off-putting as you are boiling down the meanings to the bare-bones, but that is exactly why I love Lenormand. Most people doing a 5 card spread could probably write several paragraphs explaining the nuances, but for people who want quick, direct responses, I think this is an awesome way to achieve it. When reading for myself, this helps me to avoid over-analyzing to get the answer I want. It’s hard to fudge the results in a biased way when it’s this simple.

So for someone who prefers Lenormand but still loves Tarot, you can have your cake and eat it too :)

glumaugury:

Thelast post I made about using the Lenormand reading style using Tarot cards was pretty well received, so I decided to show another typical spread for Lenormand–The Portrait.

If you did not see my last post about how to use Tarot when reading Lenormand spreads, I would suggest starting there because it says a bit more about the reading style of Lenormand and has an example so you can see how it plays out with Tarot cards.
