Kemetic Lenormand Card (1) The Rider
Djehuty (Thoth) seemed the perfect name to represent the first card in this deck.
Energy, Passion, Speed, Activity, News, Messages
He’s depicted in flight carrying with him his message. Quick, and knowledgeable He may come to us suddenly and unexpected. Djehuty is a name with many aspects, and this one that comes swift on beating wings.

-Jackal Wrs / Wos / Was Scepter-
This King comes indeed, an imperishable spirit, adorned with Anubis on the neck, who presides over the Western Height.
This is a Wrs scepter / Wos scepter because of the jackal head. WAs scepters were symbolistic objects “held by gods to show Their authority, Their power, or Their strength, or a combination of all three. There are was-scepters that were occasionally used by kings; a number of them were buried in the tomb of Nisut Tutankhamen for example. Usually however this is a strictly ceremonial object.”

Ma'at isn’t just a concept in Kemeticism. She is a goddess of balance, upon which our hearts are weighed. She inspired us to be true to ourselves and Netjer. To live by the morals of our faith and strive towards that equilibrium each and every day.
I made this piece on request, but also because many of us offer Ma'at in shrine and ritual. Offering Her to the Gods is one of the most beautifully symbolic elements you can add to your practice. And one I would never be without.

Second card in the series is Ra, and one that is incredibly important in our house. He is both present and intense as the sun in the sky, and his gaze sees all that passes before it.

Nut can be a patient name. Great in her love and protection. She is the expanse of the sky above, a part of life and death. She takes unto her the Akh and places them amongst the stars within her. She is a great warmth and comfort, and creating her here was a great joy for me.
This particular piece wanted to have the soft tones of a sunset and the eternally beauty of the aurora borealis. They wash the sky and touch the stars with their vibrancy, and embrace Nut in the eternal wonder and warmth of this world.

I started with the Bennu as a symbol of creation, and the piece that starts the creation of this deck. Sekhmet, Sekhmet, Eye of Ra.
Lady of the Red Lands.
She both protector, fierce of claw, and a healer strong in heka. A large, complex name that almost has two faces to her own side of the coin. She is a Name that came to me often this year, and has brought her fierceness with her. While this piece may be a small tribute, it is no less of who she is.

-Painted Heru / Sokar / Falcon-
Here’s a throwback to a piece I created earlier this summer. I wanted to recreate some of intricacies of pieces from antiquity, the soaring falcon with the shen in its claws was a huge inspiration. I didn’t know at the time what Name this would be meant for, but another member of the house who is now His owner knew exactly who it was meant to be for.

Homage to you Set, Lord of the Northern Sky, who resides beyond the Imperishable Stars. Advance, O far striding Master of the Seven Stars. May your powerful face be gracious to me. May you establish a crown upon my head like the Disk upon the head of my Father Amun-ra, and give to me all life, and strength and health.
From my personal collection of work, I’m offering up this ooak sculpture of Set. He is often gracious to me in being the subject of my experiments in style, and both my successes and failures as such. It took six months to figure out how to finish this one, but this weekend, I did.

I am a tree.
My roots penetrate deep into the Earth, I grow strong and I gain knowledge from the nature that surrounds me. I am calm, I am collected, and I am strong.
My body grows up, it is hardened on the outside to protect me. It branches off into my many limbs. I stand tall, swaying in the breeze.
My emotions, my thoughts, my experiences are my leaves, my blossoms, and my fruit. They grow big, strong, and stable in the light of the gods, and the rain of the goddesses. When one fails, a new one takes it’s place. I am a tree, of love and of worship.
maybe some red wax, accidentally spilled on your goddess of slaughter candleholder, is less of a flaw and more of a feature
