when sam jumped into the pit, he told dean to go make a life for himself, so dean went to lisa and lived with her and ben for a year as a family. when sam came back in season 6 and dean found out that even bobby had known sam was back for a year, bobby told him that he had chosen to keep it from him because he wanted dean to get out of the life, since so few hunters get to do that and bobby was trying to keep him out 

putting aside our various opinions on whether or not sam should have looked for dean in season 8—sam literally had no one left after dean, cas, and kevin vanished, and instead of giving up as he so obviously could have, he happened to find amelia and attempted to put himself back together by living with her. dean gave him nothing but grief and guilted him for that decision, for finding himself a relationship. but you know what, fine, that’s fine, because dean felt betrayed, and there were a lot of mixed feelings

but what’s actually worse than that to me is when bobby found out in ‘taxi driver’ and told sam off. THAT’S NOT A REAL THING YOU’RE ALLOWED TO DO, SAM! HOW COULD YOU DO THAT, SAM? HOW COULD YOU POSSIBLY MAKE A LIFE FOR YOURSELF WHEN DEAN WAS GONE, SAM? HOW COULD YOU DO WHAT I WANTED FOR DEAN BUT OBVIOUSLY THINK IS NOT OKAY FOR YOU TO DO, SAM?
