I’m excited for the release of The Dark Crystal: AOR. It’s definitely one of those films that shaped me early on and my love of all things creature.
So heres a little “fan art” for the coming series. This is not of any particular character but I thought it’s been a while since I did anything “pretty” so why not do a Gelfling.

I painted this many moons ago but thought I would repost it in honor of the Little Mermaid casting news. I give you the Nile Mermaid or “River Sphinx.”
She has her own world building myth I came up with, that if interested, you can find on my DA or Tumblr.
While Mulan is my favorite The Little Mermaid is a very close second, so I’m interested in seeing how it comes out.

Kappa on a clam , Rensai, late 19th century, netsuke.
The Kappa was a Japanese water deity often depicted with a turtle carapace long hair and a depression on the head which was used to hold vital fluids. It dwelled in rivers and was an object of great terror to small children and travellers.
The carved ivory object we see here is a netsuke, which was a toggle used to hold an inro (small box or pouch containing money, medicine and other objects) in place over the sash of a person’s robe.

Lotus Pixie eggs run hot. The specimen pictured here could only be displayed in this fashion for a few minutes before the young pixie inside was at risk of burning up entirely, its fragile shell, unbelievably, evaporating into the air. It’s because of this thermal anomaly that Lotus Pixies (though avian-like, as are most of their species) must leave their eggs in the care of the waters beneath the flowers from which they get their name. To find a Lotus Pixie egg, simply look for the telltale bubbles disturbing a lotus’ leaves. The heat from the egg boils the muddy waters while the aquatic environment ensures that the egg never gets too hot - in perfect balance the life inside is protected.

Medusa (2020)
After that night with Poseidon, Medusa was never the same, Athena saw to it. Was this a curse or a gift? Only Medusa and Athena truly know. (No snakes were harmed in the making of these collage, in fact it was as if they chose to be here.)

I’ve been thinking about the Shadecursed kickstarter. This is really just me kicking things around, but please let me know what y’all think!
Goal: $2000. This covers line and copyediting.
Stretch Goal #1: $4000: The short stories I’ve been writing for the world will be published as a book along with Shadecursed.
Stretch Goal #2: $10,000: I will be able to hire a professional voice actor at market maximum to do an audiobook version.
